  1. Don't worry Yama, DU will be here when you get back ^ goosebumps
  2. Planning for everyone's tomorrow. (Special thanks to Code24, again.)
  3. Please, welcome Osaci (aka Terawa) as a new DICE Official. Osaci has some ideas for more DICE games and will be helping to drive DICE to greater heights.
  4. I suggest updating the first post with music links as they become available. It saves a newcomer from having to search through all the posts to find the hidden gems Also, more please.

There are some organisations that will make at very least a basic set of blueprints available for general use. Libraries got to be useful for something right?
  6. Welcome. Welcome. I will take one potato, please.
  7. Indubitably, one of my favorites.
  8. Anyone won yet? I think Atherios won the best drama award
  9. Holy hand grenades, Batman! I am an angel with a shotgun and I will fight until this war's won. And I am tired of this fraking mob in my fraking restaurant.

Yup. You can create a master blueprint and make copies of that blueprint that can be used a set number of times as you choose. That is the plan anyway. And blueprints created during alpha and beta will carry over to release.
  11. It would be nice if such a person where to join DICE. If such a person does exist, of course.
  12. Giant alien critters would look amazing. Although I am not entirely for them being bosses. Regardless, I expect an org or two will pop up to save the critters from the evil hunters
  13. I demand the first moonbase be named Aiken. And that moonbases first drinking establishment be called the Drum
  14. Longer answer: Depends on LUA scripting limitations for the later items, but hovercraft races and arena battles should work no matter what systems are in place. Short answer: I hope so too.
  15. Our community page description currently holds the base rules for hovercraft racing and our plans for the future of hovercraft racing in DU. Expect these rules to be slightly altered to give each hovercraft racing event its own unique flavor. If you have any questions/concerns/comments, feel free to throw them down here.
  16. There is nothing that prevents this. Except it is really really slow. Try this in Space Engineers against a live turret. You have to start quite far off and digging a tunnel takes a long long time. Most don't have the patience for this. I am unsure of the current thoughts on how shields are to be implemented, but I would guess they are spherical shields.
  17. References are all in your head or purely coincidental And good catch there. That was supposed to be the light speed engine. Not FTL. I blame my editor
  18. Experiment Alpha. Before waking up the thousands of the Alpha team, surely one would need to check that the system is working as intended with a single test subject. A few times. No characters in the story are in any way related or based on characters outside the story, real or imaginary. This is a short story of around 5200 words At this time the placeholders for UMF are still in. These were never removed. Enjoy. ----First Paragraph Snippet---- Space. Contrary to popular belief back on Earth, stars do not move as you travel through space. Well they do, but the changes are imperceptible to the naked eye. And they don’t twinkle. Everyone I cared about I left back on Earth. Now Earth is destroyed, by some nova star and them along with it. Staring out into the void echos the void inside me. It is the loneliest I have ever felt. And then a space whale drifts by. -------------------------------------- Edit v1.1: Uploaded again with minor typo fixed as pointed out by Lethys. UMF is still in the document. Otherwise no changes. Edit: No doc changes, just here to say UMF remains in the story and won't be changed Edit: File was 0kb for some reason. Re-uploaded for everyones enjoyment. DUShortStory-ExperimentAlpha1.1.pdf
  19. Nailed it. Good job.
  20. Hahahaha. Coming from Twerk. Hahahaha. *can't breathe*
  21. Hahaha. You guys. You crack me up every time. Now suddenly the guard timer is infinite instead of 48h. There will still be parking lots, security forces dedicated to protect assets of players, stations with huge and hard to kill shields run by players, stations dedicated to host those police forces. Do you know why? Because those big ass stations will have people on them. What does that mean? It means no guard-timer. Only player shields which allows all the ideas you mentioned before. The only places that won't have a guard-timer are those places with no one in them. And then only for the first 48 hours. After that, its all fair game. This allows more emergent gameplay, not less, because: 1) More people will feel they can go exploring space which they couldn't do otherwise without this mechanic because of the time real life allows them to play the game. More players in space means more victims explorers. 2) Playing alone becomes viable. It's still not going to be easy, and more people will always have an advantage over a single player, but at least it is possible. This mechanic favors the loner. Course I don't play EVE so how much can my opinion possibly mean?
