  1. Alien life is a lie- we're the only intelligent lifeforms in this universe.... apart from our EVIL AI Overlord Aphelia- who must be stopped! She keeps leading Noveans astray and sending them to Sanctuary to die.
  2. Sanctuary is a trap orchestrated by the evil AI overlord that is aphelia. Leave those barren lands behind and come to the promise land of Madis for great ore and low g living on a marble, or if your willing to brave the death towers and the mecha of trade they call Market 6 then go to Alioth. If you're looking for that wastelander experince there is always Thades, many of ships have been lost in it's canyon. Ye be warned, don't fall for the trap that is sanctuary, there is lack of good ore- no market activity... and can only claim a single tile. Leave your life there behind and wander out into the greater cosmos!
  3. Or tie yourself to the "hate" players lob at you for being the head of a company? People crucified JC for the games issues in forums, discord, twitter, etc- the man probably just wants to be able to do his job in peace. IDK, 0.25 was a solid release, bit lacking in some ways but since playing was the smoothest roll out, 0.26 felt reactionary to starbase release, and while a solid update... myself and others couldn't really play the game for weeks due to the CTD issues. Gotta say, I almost took a break from the game due to it... What made me take a break earlier this year was not the state of the game, but the state of NQ.... communication had ceased- updates and feature progress slowed, and the knowledge the company was effectively out of funds and JC was MIA/stepped downed as CEO. As a player I had felt abandoned on a sinking ship. Now though... NQ is communicating with players, maybe not taking all their feedback into consideration... but least trying it seams. Company has funding, least enough I'd hope for another year, least the CEO is in bed with the investment firm that is helping fund the game, so if the game can be turned around / saved by the new player experince on the road-map... and as long as numbers start looking up on their player churn rate I'd hope/think they'll provide enough funds to continue till it's out of beta. But right now, their biggest battle will be the player churn rate. it's the simple factor that all MMO's live and die by. I really hope this game can continue to live, and that they can return to a positive churn rate and grow the game. Auto-miners and the new user experince, along with smashing bugs/exploits may be the determining factor for many.
  4. No, it means that if you build a "meta" ship for pvp right now that using voxels will likely increase your hit probability, and with shields there is less/no need for voxel armor... so running a "Glass Cannon" ship without voxels is becoming the current meta due to decreased hit-chance, less weight, more speed, etc. Though I'm not a hardcore pvper so take my words with an entire salt shaker.
  5. It's a balance, and right now it's tipped in favor of pvp content due to high tier ore that is getting impossibly hard to find only avalible via asteroids(which is being guarded by the that one group that soaked up most of the remaining pvpr's in DU) When that same ore is being added back to the game via auto-miners fellow care-bears will have the ability to get access to fresh ore again... till planet side territory warfare at least As a PVE sandbox there isn't anything like DU still, there has to be balance- by forcing pvp to gain access to resources it sorta takes away from what I thought made DU great. I like that DU is trying to give us something to fight over- it's cool, am not against it. But there were literally 20 of 200 asteroids that spawned in the safe zone, that were mined out within minutes of going live... it's not enough to satisfy PVE content seekers as far as asteroid mining goes. Likewise, the dinner-bell for pirates that is the middle column...may as well just get rid of the "discovered" asteroid column haha... an entire fleet of people can drive out anyone that steps foot on an asteroid within 25 minutes. It's painfully obvious that asteroids need to be rebalanced, from too little of them spawning in causing 1-2 days of the week to be roid huntin' days... to the /defense/ against pirates being to litter the sky with constructs.... and not being given remotely enough time to mine an asteroid once touched down.... Even if NQ gave us a full hour before it goes into the "discovery" tab groups will still fight over the Rare & Exotic asteroids, with player conflict still being created. Like I had said, there is nothing like Dual Universe- IMHO the devs have very little to reference as far as what works and what doesn't- so it's all a bit of a experiment till things start clicking into place.
  6. I've noticed more GM's online/interacting with the community this weekend- it's been nice to see. Was able to get help when needed. On top of that, I have yet to have a single crash to desktop today, so that's nice Thank you all for the hard work!
  7. Crashing seams to be largely resolved. Still had a CTD a login with GeForce now, and a random crash in interface opening/inventory. But the AMD crashing bug seams to be resolved, least for me and on 3 different setups.
  8. It works great for the most part, am stoked with it- only change I'd make is not repulsing constructs of the same size(owned by the same person) makes putting ships docked near each-other a bit of a headache... also sorta breaks lining up XS ships at a start line for racing. Minus that issue, it's great
  9. Trying real hard not to make it 90.1%.... I love this game too much to let it take a backseat
  10. First off, Kudos for acknowledging the absolute mess that is crash to desktop issues, along with telling people to not use VR due to bugs. Though, it wasn't communicated very well and has caused major issues because of it- still kudos for trying to communicate with the community better vs staying silent. Myself and others have been "Bugged Out", no skills seam to be applying now after using a VR station and crashing to desktop. Can't use industry. Can't mine efficiently. Can't deploy my ships with boosted skills. No mention of this on the login screen, or in game- and the announcement didn't get published to all the discords mirroring announcements- so few people saw it. Crash to Desktop issue announcement? Awesome, thank you NQ for acknowledging it- though it's hidden away in an announcement within discord. and in discord discussion people were told by an employee to "not fly their ships if they're at risk of crashing", aka- stop playing in general discussion. NovaQuark should not have to rely on Discord(which not all players use!) to push announcements to the game- and the in game pop-up misses a ton of people as if you're not logged in when it's sent you wont see it..... Literally, a simple pop-up/notification at the login screen could have saved a lot of heartache this week. If it wasn't for these serious, show stopping, game breaking problems- 0.26 would have been a solid update with content and quality of life improvements(better FPS, interface improvements, and little baby asteroids that took almost zero player input from PTS). I hope the dev & GM team, and most likely managment that pushed the dev team to go live- learns from this. Also- get a couple more GM's for the weekends when the player base is most active like any other MMO with a subscription model has.... and a pony, yes- I want a pony too... well I mean pets were promised in the kick-starter after-all... Who am I kidding? I'd just settle with a game that works, and I can play.
  11. This we can agree on it seams, along with the evil AI Aphelia repressing the population- creating missions to haul.... sand! just to get Novean's to shoot at eachother! Let's be honest, we both know aphelia is an evil AI(We banished AI from our world looooong ago! *this is cannon*)- it's only a matter of time before her drone ships are unleashed on us in a more direct manner of eradication- we will be forced to fight back.
  12. I have had FPS limitstion on, it doesn't make a difference. The princess is in another castle, sadly. I have even changed all my settings to lowest possible, no go sadly. So far I've heard it has been AMD related and FPS limit may fix it. Neither of these seam to hold true. I'll upload my dxdiag.(annnd done) Just FYI, everyone I've been playing with has been complaining about CTD waaaay more than before(caused a few friends to rage quit due to client crashing mid flight for multiple people). Y'all need more than my log file to hunt this issue down and not chase false leads. You had asked the community multiple times in different places for logs to fix the invalid cell/voxel issues- this serious of a bug deserves escalation beyond that and needs to be solved ASAP before more players give up.
  13. That doesn't explain why people with intel chipsets are also having the same type of crash after the update...
  14. This has been a major issue in the PTS, and now on the live server. Myself and others are having crash to desktop- without the crash reporter even opening up. These crashes happen in factories, standing still around constructs, getting into a pilot chair, while slow boating randomly. Ironically myself and others are reporting much better FPS, and at times the game feels "Buttery" smooth, especially in space. Kudos for the FPS improvement, and the quality of life changes in 0.26! I am worried that these issues are not going to be addressed due to the lack of crash reporter working. My computer is using 20% CPU, 50% ram, and 25% GPU- room left on hard drive for cache- so shouldn't be a problem with specs. Likewise these issues presents themselves on GeForce now too. On top of that, the "SAO - Sword Art Online" bug is still a thing, where you get stuck in surrogate and can't respawn/logout- or get stuck unable to logout or close DU after using VR. Detection Zones crashing the client if used in the vicinity of another dynamic core. TL;DR Dear NQ: Make it easy for us to get you log files to fix these problems ASAP- it makes playing the game a chore at best, headache at worst (if your flying and it happens, fun times for all!) This should be a critical priority, and I worry this is flying under the radar due to lack of ability to report correctly.
  15. The middle-column is a bit concerning- effectively transmitting the location people are at/heading to before the timer even starts. Pending that, not enough T1/T2 ore to help the markets- and T3/T4/T5 injection will help- but may not be enough. As in, there are not enough asteroids, and or they're not big enough. Just fuzz the data of which asteroids are being discovered(like general area/planet vs which asteroid is being tracked), add larger asteroid generation, and make the timer for more roids random through the week and introduce them continuously or else there will be a gold-rush every week with pvp action that peters out... means players will be beholden to a games weekly timer to enjoy content, which feels like a big no-no. Easy(ish) changes: * More nebulous discovery data in the middle column * Progressively add asteroids through time, add a "time of rumor" to each, so we know how much longer they'll stick around. * Larger nodes of T1/T2 on asteroids, and or more/larger asteroids in general. Those feel like "easy" fixes. Though there is one major glaring issue with this entire system: HURRY UP AND WAIT- to hunt down asteroids takes a chunk of time, and if there is a small crew on board that means several people waiting for an hour+(hunted 5 on PTS) hunting an asteroid takes a lot of time, and when found a small team has to HURRY to offload the ore. This entire timeframe is 5-6 hours- which is a play session length most cannot afford and does not lend itself to "fun". This really lends itself to a 24 hour timer for asteroid discovery(or heck, a flexible timer based on asteroid location/rarities?! Force the conflict over more rare asteroids). This allows players to break up their play sessions, and allows more people to enjoy the content. As it currently stands it'll punish those that don't have an entire day/night to play a game. And not saying DU needs to cater to the "casual" crowd, but it'd be nice to make content that people whom only have a couple hours to spare can jump on and enjoy.
  16. Alioth to be destroyed/moved in a horrible warp gate accident that creates a permanent wormhole to a new system, think about it- without Alioth- NQ's database issues fix themselves!
  17. Bring on the asteroids- bring on the mayhem! BRING ON THE FUN! The only consumption I need is of all of Alioth's ore to build my empire on Madis and among the stars! In the short time i've been defrosted I've seen wars, org theft/upheaval, player made content with racing, player made quests, and now a casino situated on a novian run/built station in space- all in less than a year of being dethawed from the ark ship. The helios economy hasn't existed long enough to even be alive yet, it's just an infant still. Give it time to grow.
  18. So- I've tested it on Geforce now and my computer with a 2080, the old addage in this game seams to hold true.... turn down your thread count from auto... to two. It's an old trick that still works 8+ months later.... and begs the question, why the F is it not 2 by default? This game is supposed to be vetted for GeForce now and it's not even using the best settings. This is a simple change that would take less than an hour of dev work. *sighs* Could just be AMD/Nvidia systems?
  19. 1. Madis- it's number one on the planet list for a reason. 2. Low Gravity of Madis. So much easier to fly. 3. Massive amounts of ore Madis has. 4. Madis Market 3, best market in the game! The NovaX and MTI base is poppin' lately.
  20. Oh, another one of the presidents rants? How quaint! While I think you're being pedantic I shall indulge in your trife discussion. 1. That'd wretched Link Container function, why must I always press CTRL+I each time to link to a container properly? Also, why must I change my linked container option in the trade window? *sighs* just let me be able to use BOTH containers? 2. People that complain about schematics. it only takes 100 meganodes to pay for warp beacon schematics/production, with 8ish hours to mine each- that's nothing! I blame the president of Alioth for not forcing Aphelia to sell it at cheaper prices- he is in cahoots with that evil AI. 3. The docking system (and ship physics)- seams like every update I'm sent on a magical journey to find out how they changed their inertial matrix calculations and docked constructs. 4. Alioth. It's no longer needed(along with any presidential candidate that may be in power) due to all the ore being mined for said warp beacon schematics- see above. That just about covers it, really though all of our issues can be traced back to Alioth. Without it the servers would run so much better!
  21. I thought you were still frozen- should check your ore on Alioth! The communist party of madis has secured most of what is left and is in the process of ferrying your ore to Madis where it will be used in our 20% less torture factories that make the peoples ships, weapons', and red and yellow bases. We also stole your land mr capitalist swine- 150 tiles of it for further retaliation for the disease your people unleased upon the sovereign planet of Madis. All hail the free communistic pseudo capitalist people of madis! ALL HAIL MTI!
  22. Are the org changes coming with 0.26? Likewise automating? Both are seemingly not mentioned, wonder if it's an oversight or that these are being pushed back?
  23. That could literally be how atmo pvp works or is intended, least that's what I imagine when I think atmo pvp. That reminds me Starbase's PVP combat, it's very much like that, and it's my favorite part of that game. If DU had it, ooooooofff, take my money.
  24. Lies, I just ate bacon. Literally- it was delicious. serious note, I like the cut of the new CEO's jib. NQ has been doing a lot better at communicating things.
