  1. Someone at NQ somehow managed to leave the RDMS totally open to everyone at one of the markets. Players attempted to let NQ know about it, but for some reason NQ wasn't paying attention. So players decided it would be a good idea to take the market apart. And post pics bragging about it on reddit. NQ did not appreciate that, and banned a few people. Basically the parents weren't paying enough attention to the kids, so the kids found some matches and lit the house on fire. And got a little more attention then they wanted. I don't think that was the right way to get NQ's attention. But i do wish they would pay more attention to us. Players make up about half of what this game is, and if they aren't paying attention to us, then i don't think they will fully understand their own game. But burning the house down isn't going to accomplish anything.
  2. It's not that i think they are making decisions for the rest of the game. Just that they seem to be doing their jobs without consideration for how it affects the future of the game. They are just doing their jobs. But i wish someone would tell them to stop, until the thing that they are selling actually exists. When you dangle a unicorn like this game in front of people, they want it. And when they can't have it yet, they're mad. I wish the rest of the game was as incredible and unparalleled as the voxel building, so everyone could enjoy it as much as i do. But it's not, yet.
  3. Sometimes we got angry Sometimes we got a little sentimental. I wonder sometimes if we as a community, or just me, could have somehow done more, to show the money people, what an incredible game Landmark was. If maybe we had done more they would have gotten it. I dunno. I wish everyone here would try to keep in mind, that this is a completely unproven idea. The sure shot would have been to make a fortenite clone in space. Maybe a zombie shooter battle royal ? It's up to us to help prove that this is a good idea. And picking it apart while it's half finished and shitting all over it, isn't helping. I think the bad decisions that NQ makes, are due to a lack of faith in the project, by the marketing and money people. Apparently their job is to sell the game to anyone and everyone as fast as possible, whether they like it or not. And it's up to the devs to somehow catch up, if they can. I guess the question is, do we want to help, or just throw shit from the sidelines and point out the obvious mistakes.
  4. For some ridiculous reason the game rounds the amounts down to the nearest 1L. So if it looks like you have exactly enough of something. Like it says it requires 10L and you only have 10L. You might actually need 10.2L or something like that.
  5. In this case the technology is a means to a type of game that isn't possible otherwise. Building stuff is fun, for me. If anyone finds a better way of doing it, let me know.
  6. But I'm the only one who mentioned Landmark, you're saying you didn't post that video in reply to me? That video didn't even get into any of the good stuff. He didn't even mention Ukrainian Oligarchs or Stormy Daniels ?
  7. I am, sadly, very familiar with what happened to Landmark, and Everquest Next. i am temped to watch the video, just for a trip down memory lane though. ? The truth is those devs made one of the most incredible games i've ever played, and it was only half finished. What happened with those games is just a ridiculous stupid tragedy. It wasn't the devs fault though. But also, what does any of that have to do with what i said?
  8. The "voxel to mesh" thing that NQ implemented was an idea that was only whispered about like some kind of mythical unicorn by the Landmark devs. I have no idea who deserves credit for it, but it was something pretty incredible whoever figured it out. The voxel tech was originally designed for building landscapes and terrain. The whole purpose of it, as far as i know, is that voxels can be edited up close, and then simplified when they're viewed at a distance. The problem is that spaceships don't look great when they're "simplified". So dual contouring is what was causing the "voxel blob" issue. It wasn't the solution. The fact that the whole voxel system wasn't even designed to be used this way (building things in detail) is something that the Landmark devs were only just beginning to wrap their heads around. When you consider what the game looks like now, compared to what it looked like before they implemented the mesh server, it seems like a pretty big deal to me.
  9. I'm not sure how you would use the game to actually teach math. But it would certainly be a good way to encourage someone's interest in math. The voxel building side of DU is all math. Too much math. ?
  10. I wasn't really following Star Citizen, but when they gave DU a shout out during the kickstarter, i got a bit more interested. Not because it was a nice thing to do, but because it's kind of a flex too. You have a to have some confidence in your game, to not be afraid to admit the existence of a competitor. I don't think NQ should be afraid to admit that there are other games out there. DU is better, if they can just figure out how to make it.
  11. That's a pretty naive thing for another game dev to say. It's easy to sit back and look at what someone else has done, and think you could do better. Usually someone in the same industry would have enough perspective not to do it so casually. Their game better be a shining beacon of perfection when it comes out, otherwise i'm going to be laughing at them.
  12. The thing about DU is that the building allows for so much more detail, that for me at least, there is no competition. NQ started out at the very beginning setting the bar very high for a few aspects of the game. Mainly the building, and the single shard universe. While other games are making sacrifices in those areas, and pushing forward into other aspects of the game, NQ seems to be getting bogged down in figuring out how to make it all work. If NQ had chosen to go with a building system like those other games, maybe they would be further ahead right now. But the game wouldn't be half as interesting to me personally, so i'm glad they decided to go out on a limb. I think in frustration, sometimes people may be forgetting that NQ isn't trying to make just any game, this is all pretty ambitious. Maybe they don't know what they're doing. Maybe if they did they wouldn't be trying to make such an ambitious game. But then what? I'd have to wait 10 more years for this game? That sucks.
  13. @Eternal Hey maybe start your own thread. Or post in one of the 7 million threads already on that topic.
  14. I think it's Shift+Page up and shift+page down, to skip between tutorial steps. You can skip any step and still complete the tutorial, and get the reward, as long as you can reach the teleport pad to exit.
  15. That's the cutest way i've ever heard someone describe an exploit. Hilarious. The fact is that the combination of the safe zone and RDMS permissions is supposed to guarantee that when you park your ship in the safe zone, someone without permission to move it, should not be able to move it into the PVP zone, to destroy it. If someone finds a way to do that, with a tool that is not intended to do that. That's an exploit. If that was something that was supposed to be possible, this would be a different story. And you know that.
  16. See that's sketchy. Using the tools the game has, would mean maneuvering a ship onto your ship, and then trying to fly away. Which wouldn't work. I'm assuming you tried that, and it didn't work. So you found an exploit that got you around the way the game is intended to work, which is that you can not use the maneuver tool to parent another player's construct. And then you exploited it. You knew you weren't supposed to be able to steal another players ship that way, because it wasn't possible until you found a complicated exploit that made it possible.
  17. I don't think anyone has reported anyone for anything that happened in game. The discussion about moderation is basically about one person using a really shitty slur. I don't know all the details of the whole pvp argument here, but i believe they were here complaining about BOO and that BOO was mean to them in game. As far as i can tell BOO did nothing but roleplay as pirates and shoot at people's spaceships in the FFA PVP zone. And in my experience BOO always keeps their salty pirate roleplay within the forum rules, when they're here. However people want to act on Discord is up to them, and the mods there. But there's only one official DU forums. And no one should be made to feel unwelcome here.
  18. I've been here long enough to see quite a few assholes like you come and go. NQ might be horribly slow to moderate these forums but they do take out the trash eventually. I hope threads like this make them consider the damage done to their community by not paying mods to work on weekends. Or Mondays apparently.
  19. Have you cleared your cache? I have definitely been seeing these issues lately too. But only with voxels that i've added or deleted very recently. And only outside of build mode.
  20. I think you might be misunderstanding me. You can talk all the shit you want, i don't care. This is about you casually throwing around the word autistic. Every time a sad little shit like you throws that word around, and no one says anything, another sad little shit gets a little more comfortable saying it. and i've been hearing it a lot lately. I get it that it's fun to talk shit, but are you not good enough at it to come up with an insult that doesn't drag an entire group of innocent people down in the process?
  21. NQ already has one foul mouthed teenager to ban from the forums this week. Don't add yourself to the list. You guys can come up with a better insult to use. Seriously, just try.
  22. If you don't like bullies maybe start by trying not to be one yourself. You lose all creditability as the "good guy" here, when you use a word like that as an insult. Just don't do it anymore. It's not that hard.
  23. At this point i'm rooting for BOO just because @iNFiDeL keeps calling people Autistic. I hope they blow up all your Millennium Falcons. Star Trek is better anyway.
  24. My nephew drew a picture of the Millennium Falcon with crayons, should i call the cops?
