  1. Well they wasted their time because the first time i ran into one of them i would have pooped my pants and then run away either way.

Combat in ED scares me lol.  I don't even have any weapons on my AspX.

I am pretty good at running away though.

Poke me sometime on discord and we can wing up! Last night I went and picked up some alien artifacts and alloys from some crash site, pretty damn cool. Pretty sure the space barnacles at the site we're humming to me. Spooky stuff!

:o  I need to get this game

It isn't for everyone, I have found Elite to sort of be int he same boat that Eve is. Great to read about, terrible to play.

Not that I don't think that E:D is a great game to play. It doesn't give you any direction, you gotta do that yourself and that tends to put some people off.

  2. The sound of that alien ship is kind of terrifying.

Or Elite devs finally perfected the Brown Note.

After centuries of collecting data on the human race, the Thargoids came to only one conclusion on the best way to fight them - the brown note.

I hope you all wore your brown pants today.

  3. That. Is pretty f.ing awesome. Makes me wanna get back into my little old Sidewinder and see one for myself.

Tonight I'm going to set my desk back up for my HOTAS and check it out. I think I read somewhere you can get interdicted over in the Hyades Sector. I haven't fired up Elite for quite a few months, so about time I catch up on the new stuff.

  4. I thought that the jumpgates were wormhole based. Either you need two to create a connection or the gate can recreate the wormhole and you can waltz back through.

I remember reading somewhere you can build a gate on your side, send a probe via the long way, and when it gets there you can use the gate once to get one ship through.

    Could be wrong, idk.

  5. Here's my question:

So we make a stargate. Yay! Somebody goes through it, gets shot off... 25,000 light years away.

How are they supposed to get back? It wouldn't make sense for a new gate to just appear on the other side. Is it really a one-way trip until somebody makes a new gate on that side?

Yes, it is a one way trip until someone builds a gate on the end. Ideally whatever ship you send first to get over there and build it will have everything it needs already on board.

  6. This whole thing is also where I like to point out that adding "bureaucracy" for the sake of wanting structure is fine and dandy. But when the red tape starts to come up, you've gone too far imo. It isn't a game anymore for you or your group, it's a prison. Albeit, a prison where people join willfully.Clearly some people like those sorts of groups, and frankly, good for them. There is a place for them, I have no issues with it. Different flavors and all.

Using the buzzword "freedom" is a marketing ploy, and also adds flair. Don't think too much in to it, because guess what - it equals jack shit just like everything else does when you get down to it. Find a group that plays well, and stick with it. Buzzwords or not, you either end up with a good group or a bad group, which is all relative to you.

That said, I hear some groups around here provide not full freedom, but just the right amount. ( ͡° ͜ʖ ͡°)

  7. Things are quieting down in our Eve group, but we still have plenty of gaming going on during peak US and EU timezones. We're always looking for more folks to play games with, so stop by our discord and hit us up. Personally, I've been playing a fair bit of Overwatch/XCOM 2 with some Eve on the side (though not as much as I should. :( )

Holidays have been slow for everyone, but it seems like most people are having a good time. New years is right around the corner, and myself and everyone else from BOO wishes everyone a fantastic 2017. :)

  8. This will be a hot topic for a long time to come, partly because how people view piracy in any setting is all subjective to the individual. One mans gourmet steak could be a steaming pile of poopoo to another.

Tbh, play the game how you want to. It's why we play games. The emergent stuff will happen naturally, and it could be for or against you. It just is what it is. I just hope players can learn to accept others will play differently, and have a different view on things from their own. I don't think anyone is really going to care if you go hunting down some player because they were killing a bunch of players at a stargate. It's when you make it personal is when it stops becoming fun for anyone involved. I agree there is shit behavior that shouldn't be tolerated, and that's whatever NQ decides is good or bad. If there is a valid problem child, then they'll be dealt with accordingly by developer staff (so long as they are reported appropriately).

One day I may give every passerby free shit for no reason, the next I may blow everyone up indiscriminately. Doesn't make me a terrible person behind the avatar, and if that's how individuals want to see things, and take it personal, maybe you should step back and realize we're all playing a game. I see this knee jerk reaction the most whenever any form of PVP is involved, light hearted or not. Not to say I discount others' misfortune from having their base/ship blown up, I understand it probably sucks to have that time invested, but you chose to invest it in to a virtual world subject to others' actions. What happens to your stuff is no one else's fault but your own.
