B is going to happen, minus the "getting it together, admitting mistakes, and rollbacks".

I'm calling it right now that the direction of the game is going to change to a more realistic one, removing/altering some of the promised core features as they were presented. This includes territory warfare, AvA, and the PvP overhaul.

Starting off by saying I am glad to see they are attempting a change to lower the issues at markets. I like the new possibilities to screens as well.
I am though wondering if we can have the over all game option to by default, allow html coded screens to be on or off by default. With this grant us the option to turn on or off any screen in the game and allow the screen to be on or off based locally instead of by server. Meaning if I toggle a screen on or off, it is only effecting the screen for me, not the server. That way my game does not have to load a screen unless I chose to turn it on. But that will not change what the person next to me sees.
Could be a fair compromise to keep html in game to avoid lua creators from having to redo entire code.

    For those that havent read:
    https://board.dualthegame.com/index.php?/topic/22565-changes-to-lua-screen-units/

My entire range of products in-game is based on HTML screens and CSS animations. It would not be feasible to rewrite them in any amount of time that would make it worthwhile. The new LUA based drawing features are extremely limited. For example, a large part of what makes my Bacterium product look realistic is the use of CSS animation on SVGs. Most crucially, the ability to use existing skillset (HTML/CSS) and familiar tools (SVG creation outside of the game e.g. Adobe Illustrator) are what make my products possible within the already tight limitations of DU.

I don't want to be dramatic, because I know its important to be constructive when giving feedback but if you remove support for HTML on screens, I'm out. Hundreds of hours of work will have been wasted and the key element that attracted me to this game will have been lost.

HTML/CSS is an existing technology that attracts creators becuase they can use existing skillsets. Removing it is too greater loss. If anyone else feels this way, please comment below.

    EDIT
Can I just give an example of the sort of thing I am regularly doing on screens so you can understand how unachievable it will be using the new LUA commands:

My Bacterium product (https://du-creators.org/makers/NoxCorp/ship/NoxCorp Bacterium) uses animated SVGs inside <DIV> containers that are then animated to move around and transformed in 3 dimensions using CSS. This can all be achieved in around 30,000 characters of HTML/SVG markup and CSS. There are no amount of "useful drawing commands" that can offer this kind of flexibility.

    You ok?

That youtuber does not say things are bad or good. Just says the situation is unknown.
    How is that despicable?

Each of us has a different reason for playing video games.
I can tell you why I played with it: to vent my creative vein, my need to build and see my aesthetic sense and inventiveness realized, my hobbyist design skills and amazed by the artistic solutions found by others.
Yes, I am from that part of the players who played DU for his creative ability. PVP and commerce have never attracted me.
    I liked to build.
And I still do, in other games and even out of games.
I don't know what "all adults" are doing to play a video game. Everyone has their own reason.
There is no more valid or less valid reason. There is only how you perceive it, for yourself.

As for the rest, I am sorry to be "brutal" but no one who is going to close a game will ever tell you "in 6 months we are planning to close everything, in the meantime we will squeeze you as much as we can".
    It's commercial madness.
    You won't know.
If they tell you that everything will be fine, that they won't whipe, and that everything will go smoothly, it could be true, or a huge bullshit. It is up to you to decide whether to continue or not.
But what you are asking is ... naive.
    Extremely naive.

Sure calling a moderate youtuber an "idiot" without offering a single line justifying why, is what we need to pay atention to.

Saying that he is "gone" and that we can see him in Starbase is also something we should pay atention too.

He is steaming so hard is difficult to understand any constructive idea he has. And its not up to us to filter it.

There are far better ppl here to read.
I dont agree with blazemonger in many topics. But he tries hard to skip the BS and steaming and offer solutions.

I can only really agree with this. If NQ is able to find the courage to face facts there and revert to Alpha AND then show us progress and a way out into beta I think that will undo a lot of mistrust and frustration about broken promises. Even a solid plan with a realistic set of expectations and then sticking to that may do the same.

It all depends on what the investors can fix and accomplish over the next few weeks as I do believe that is where we are now. If they find they can't fix it an dit's not worth the risk on their end IMO they are well within their right to pull the plug. But I have enough faith in the potential of DU being strong enough to build a case for renewal and a way forward and we as the community certainly can play a part in that by being patient during these weeks.

There are 2 models of doing this.
The 1st is with stable product with API calls and documentation.
The 2nd is with a pure code dump and a message saying "this is what we have"

I dont think DU's tech is ready for the 1st. And licensing does not fit the 2nd.

But in general, thank you for your insights and your hope.

PS: Good luck keeping this thread up...

So new graphics and such is nice.  But let me cut to the point.  Market clutter solution was no solution.  It was a delaying tactic at best.   Why not compact and place any ship left there for longer than 90 days and shove it in their market inventory so they can come and get it.

This won't effect active players, but dead accounts will clean up the trash.

The 0.24 broke the game for many users.

I already reported the crash that was hapenning on the PTS but nothing has been done to solve this.

after speaking with other users in the same case it seems Shadow PC (https://shadow.tech) are now blocked and cannot access the game anymore.
    Any reason to that ?

Can we please have a rapid fix for that ?

Terrain improvements look great, can't wait to see them in game.  The voxel improvements are just meh though.  Hard to get excited over any voxel improvements until you come up with an actual voxel editor that allows us to directly edit edges/lines/vertices ala JayleBreak's wonderful 2D Voxel Planner.
