PS: Some people are genuinely turned off from the game because of the graphics, and I quote: "Ohh man, the terrain graphics are terrible"  "The graphics are cringe."  "this gamelooks bad rofl"  "I really can't tell if this game looks great, or really terrible!" "The terrain looks appalling, what a load of jank lol"  "What's with the C64 graphics?"  among many others.

looks more cringe than ever before...

They already brought this to everyone's attention.  Read their release-notes. They are trying to standardize, which is very needed. They even said that you would most likely need to rebuild. So for many of us, this was to be expected.

Textures look like plastic. You're welcome to rebuild.

True you are not.  But I am saying it isn't any better anywhere else.  So you can either move on and go play sometime else.

Or you can, pull up your big boy pants and cowboy up.

It is though. Valheim discord is nice. Manner Lords discord is brilliant. SB discord is quite interesting. Some of these have better ideas and some even have way better functionally fun games. And what does cowboy up mean here? What are you saying? Criticism doesn't matter? Because yes we're being critical and negative toward the game, and we only have NQ to blame for it due to their lack of communication as to what's going on internally. It's quite a big list of names that have been either let go or have quit.

Question how will not having AVA effect territory warfare?

If you destroy the territory market and take the territory what can they do?  Watch?

    Fight back.

But the question assumes more things than you realize maybe. For one, why put up a player market when you don't have protection? Shields? Guns? Furthermore, why have the markets at all? In civilization history trade centers don't just happen. They are established via a long and arduous process resulting from many small trade routes coalescing into one trade center for convenience of all parties involved. They don't just appear out of nowhere. If this is meant to be a civilization building game you cannot just make a trading post. I mean... you can. But you also must suffer the risks involved. Trade hubs will emerge in key places organically due to demand and convenience.

Moscow wasn't built as Moscow. It wasn't built in 3 days. It was first a patch of dirt, then some trade route or some small shanty village where people painted themselves blue and killed and pillaged neighboring villages. It grew into a trade post and eventually into one of the main trade centers in the region and eventually grew into a city. And in the meantime a lot of blood was spilt.

I've been saying this many times over... this game is not a civilization building game even though it's advertised as such. You'd think that if you set out building such a game you'd go with first principles and ask: what is civilization? How does it arise? What factors characterize civilization? How long does it take? Then you take the most important aspects and try to gamify them. Based on what we have right now I don't believe this process ever happened. JC has no vision nor direction. It's blind development. Most alphas have significant evolutions and mechanics added on their main patches, DU seems to devolve with every patch.

Sorry but that is only your own opinion not from us all. just because you have never learned to act without harasment its not our fault.

Nice turn of words there. Why not add murder and homicide to that harassment as well?

Imagjne territory warfare without AvA. That's like... idk.. deciding who to marry with rock paper scissors.

And yes, without pvp nothing in this game matters. Not the buildings, not the pvp ships, not the cool huds and lua creations, nor the cities that remain empty and desolate because there are no selective pressures at all in this game for any civilization building. It's basically minecraft. This was not the promise of the kickstsrter.

To all of you upset by the lack of progress or the direction of DU.

    Bye.

Get gone and be gone.  Stay gone.

You don't seem to realize what's going on do you....

.24 is just a middlewear patch. They are struggling to get a simple mission system going. This, I think, is their last attempt at visual polish before say.. a single player creative mode  ea Steam release... for example. Say goodbye to single shard.

You'll be the one raging on reddit when they pull the plug on the live servers.

  7. There was a very recent fight between AC and Boo, 12v3 or thereabouts. This is a non-exhaustive list of parties involved:

    1. Boo (Blitz, HVC)
    2. AC (Atom, Hyperion)

What follows is a description of very interesting proceedings regarding the appearance of Hyperion on the battle field

    1. Blitz is within 2SU of Hyperion
    2. Blitz is NOT engaging Hyperion ships, Hyperion ships are not targeting Blitz ship. Blitz is engaging  AC/Atom ships
    3. HVC reports that they are getting very bad performance fighting Hyperion (severe FPS drops down to 1 fps, gunners unable to lock targets, guns not shooting)
    4. Blitz joins Hyperion fight, Hyperion targets Blitz ship, Blitz ship starts to experience very bad performance (severe FPS drops down to 1 fps, gunners unable to lock targets, guns not shooting, engines not responding to any input), severe constant spike in pc resource usage (A Blitz member has a 256 GB of ram and 64 cores , ALL OF IT was maxed out).
    5. Blitz reports about 10 minutes of being a sitting duck unable to do anything at all, not even shoot. AC ships take off a lot of gold armor, little amounts of elements are damaged.
    6. Blitz ship floats away, all ships disengage it (Ship is going about 23,000km/h), except about 2 AC ships who tried to follow (likely desync issues?)

Several key aspects to what happened in the fight:

    1. Severe and constant drop in performance was noted when Hyperion was engaging Boo ships.
    2. Atom/AC ships engaging Boo ships did not cause any drops in performance.
    3. Performance drop metrics include maxed out usage of CPU and RAM, extremely low FPS (literal slideshow, gunners not able to lock or fire weapons, engines not responding to pilot input
    4. Drop in performance was consistent, meaning that performance was low throughout the duration of Hyperion ships engaging Boo ships
    5. From what I can gather, AC/Atom ships were not experiencing the drop in performance described here
    6. On Boo side, at the time of Hyperion engagement, ALL personnel suffered the same constant drop in performance and maximum resource usage, including gunners, engineers, and pilots

There are at least 2 theories about why Hyperion ships engaging Boo ships would cause such massive and consistent drop in performance:

    1. Hyperion ships are using exploits, be it Lua related or in some other form
    2. Single Shard Server errors: due to the nature of ISPs in Germany (most of Hyperion consists of German players) and the single shard server clusters, there is severe latency / connection errors / server timeouts that would cause consistent performance drops when engaging players that are from Germany

Here is what is known as key supplements to this discussion:

    1. There are several DU players who are in possession of the source code to the game
    2. The last event (Namely the Star Wars event Boo crashed) exhibiting the same problems at the very end of the event when Hyperion joined in the fight, Boo ships were experiencing severe fps drops with maxed out CPU and RAM usage. From my understanding this was not happening to Atom / AC ships involved. In this particular case only Hyperion ships and Boo ships were on the field engaging each other
    3. Other Boo crews reported similar unreasonable resource usage while engaging Hyperion ships

Something to make clear, this is very much an isolated incident. Yes there is a bug where if you have 4 gunners one always misses, in this case no gunner could even lock let alone fire. To my knowledge this particular consistent drop in performance has only happened twice, in both cases Hyperion was on the field engaging Boo.

Aforementioned Boo member with 64 cores and 256GB of RAM is currently running diagnostics to see if anything was fried.

    What do you think?

Here you go.,. just to clear that up.. Paid shill may be a stretch.. but "paid for" is accurate it would seem..

I used to play a lot of Infinity Battlescape until I started figuring out things and how they treated their community, and bluedrake is so "amazed" at that game on a regular basis. Probably gets some rupees from the IB devs too. And yet he has no idea what to do in the game and only plays when he needs a video out.

I'd rather get a perspective on a game from TheRadBrad, he's not a good gamer but at least I can judge the game's qualities via his relatively stable and constant personality with which he plays games.

Speaking of which, haven't watched any of his content in a long while...
