  1. Dam your fast. I think NQ-Kyrios is about to make an official forum post about this. Also I agree "Fleet" is my preference as well.
  2. I think a support ticket is the best course of action but based on the situation you describe a reinstall is a good first step too. The client is fairly robust but things like hard crashes, power outages, failing drives, and even unstable internet connections can lead to problems. A reinstall is the quick catch all fix. Some of my systems regularly run into issues so I maintain a USB drive with a golden copy of the gamefiles that I just copy over whenever I need to perform a reinstall. It sounds like your issue is less common but you might want to do something similar if you greatly dislike waiting for the reinstall process or redownloading 6gb.
  3. DU is an MMO not a single player game and thus passive gameplay should offer minimal rewards. Mining units were originally intended to be a passive ore/income supplement not a primary source. The sudden loss of planetary hand mining significantly elevated its importance. Going forward I would like to see more manual enhancement activities added to mining units and as well as factory units. The difficult part is figuring out how to make those activities fun and engaging. The other alternative is to leave mining units alone and instead introduce more alternative ore sources like asteroids that require active participation in exchange for a bigger payout. Either way, we need to move away from this "I only login once every 3 days" atmosphere before release. I am sure NQ has a plan in mind they are probably just trying to figure out how to execute it or awaiting the finishing touches.
  4. You misunderstand. I am talking about the NPC buy orders not the sell orders. The scenario I am describing is one where the NPC buy orders are $10/sprocket and sell orders are $100/sprocket respectively. If it costs you $5 to make that sprocket then regardless of what happens to the economy you will always be able to make at least a $5 profit. Yes that sounds great from a player perspective but that assurance of value actually detracts from the intended purpose of economy balancing. You ideally want the price of goods to be able to drop below manufacturing costs to help correct for supply and quanta imbalances. That way if some rich org decides to overproduce sprockets they are actively punished for this behavior as it costs them quanta to do it. Once they run out of funds the price will again stabilize near the manufacturing cost , opening the door for other industry players to jump back in. Tweaks to this system are made via modifying gameplay sinks/sources that affect sprocket destruction/creation so that a preset amount of sprockets are always needed. Under this model the NPC orders are just safety rails and are only ever used in the event of a problem.
  5. I agree that the market is oversaturated right now and that the present situation provides avenues whereby new players can skip ahead. I also agree that elongating the gameplay loop can help with player retention but I honestly think there are better and more direct ways to accomplish that. Your idea however, has merit as a tool for balancing the economy. It places upper and lower bounds on goods so that in the event supply far exceeds demand that excess product gets erased via NPCs or conversely created if demand far exceeds supply. This type of system is normal for most established MMOs but its hard to implement right now because the initial conditions are already quite skewed. More specifically, there are players currently sitting on mountains of assets/quanta that could see drastic changes in value. Also the setpoints for those NPC orders are heavily dependent on the overall player population which is likely to change upon release. We actually had the system you described earlier in development but new features and gameplay changes were constantly disrupting the economy balance and the playerbase requested that the NPC orders (aka the economy safety rails) be removed. I expect they will be re-installed at some point down the line after things stabilize. Also just a note, I think NPC buy orders should not generate a profit under this system, it needs to be material cost or below to stimulate industry competition. With that said, I am not an expert on the topic so maybe I am overlooking something here.
  6. At the top right of the main login screen is a debug menu. It has an option that takes you directly to the logfile directory. You can also access it manually at C:\Users\<Username>\AppData\Local\NQ
  7. Regular client crashes is not normal. Check your logs to see what is triggering the event. Some of the more common issues are running out of memory (buy more RAM) or trying to access a missing game file (perform a clean reinstall of the game). If the error is not obvious to you, send your logs to NQ support at support.dualthegame.com and they can help you figure it out. Shredder already covered your other questions but here are some links to the associated posts if you want to read through it yourself. Best of luck and welcome back.
  8. An official news article would be great but don't forget we also have some aspiring player journalists. Also if any of you have a twitter account, consider tweeting out your screenshots/videos/stories with #Dual Universe and @Dual Universe. There is a fairly good chance you will get some retweets from the official DU account.
  9. It may sound attractive but being able to generate gametime without anyone needing to pay NQ the physical cash defeats the whole point of charging a subscription fee. If NQ wants to be generous and provide avenues for free gametime (which I strongly oppose) then it would need to be heavily controlled (ie: not tradeable/giftable) to prevent the kind of black market activities Blazemonger is referring to. Also I think having DACs be a physical in-game object is a bad idea in general (especially given how complex the RDMS can get). A website implementation sounds much better and will hopefully lead to fewer new players getting scammed.
  10. This looks like a windows issue. Older versions of Microsoft Visual C++ can normally be installed alongside newer ones but Microsoft's installer will produce this error if it detects overlap, a partial install, missing dependences, or corrupted files. To start off I recommend you delete your temp folder (C:\Users\<username>\AppData\Local\Temp) and then run a windows update. If the error still persists after that, download and run this fix it tool from Microsoft. If that still fails to let you install Visual C++then there is likely an overlap, uninstall all instances of Microsoft Visual C++ and try again. You can also use this diagnostic tool from Microsoft to help you track down the root cause. Finally the Microsoft support site has a wealth of information on this topic along with support experts who can help you resolve this, hopefully without needing to resort to reinstalling windows 10 (aka the nuclear option). Wishing you the best of luck. If you do manage to figure it out, please share what worked for you to help the next player who finds themselves in this situation.
  11. Really awesome to see some more fleet vs fleet pvp. Thanks for sharing and best of luck to both groups in your next engagement.
  12. A full wipe on release was never the intention but it has been a hot topic since early beta. The playerbase and even the developers have been divided on the issue. We are still not 100% sure a wipe will take place but the game is expected to release soon so the devs are currently trying to figure it out. If you want to contribute to the discussion, this is the most recent thread. As to selling things on the market, there are fewer active players than normal right now (some reportedly are snoozing until the wipe debate is settled) but also keep in mind transporting goods in DU is expensive and time consuming. This has resulted in several "popular" trade hubs dominating above all the rest. You will likely need to offer a substantial discount or a bulk order to sell goods at one of the less popular markets. Also welcome to DU. We have a great community so don't hesitate to reach out if you run into trouble or want to socialize. Popular hangouts include the In-game general chat and support channels as well as the official forums and discord. There is also a reddit and facebook if that's your thing.
  13. For @GEEKsogen and anyone else wondering how many DACs they will receive. Here is a quick overview: Note: Early bird variants receive the default number of DACs for their given tier - see Kickstarter page Founder accounts do not gain any additional DACs from supporter packs - see Support Article These numbers could change so be sure to stay up to date with your DU news
  14. I think Modgud covered everything but feel free to reply here or DM me if you need further clarification on anything. If you are planning to try out the new FTUE, be sure to review this forum post and consider providing your own feedback on the experience. Also welcome back!
  15. For future reference. If anyone needs to report an incident with NQ staff or appeal a moderator/GM decision. You should first submit a ticket on the support site detailing the issue. This will allow you to include logs and or screenshots. As of writing, the proper support ticket categories are "Rules & Policies" with relevant sub-category "NQ-Staff" or "Bans" respectively. Once the ticket has been submitted you can usually expect a response within a week, but note that it could be longer depending on the severity of the issue, size of the investigation, and ticket backlog. If you believe that the problem is severe enough to warrant immediate action, contact one of our community managers via DM (either on the forums or in Discord) and give them your ticket number. Note you can also send an email directly to support@novaquark.com just make sure to include your account name and all the relevant information. Edit: Refer to NQ-Nyzaltar's follow up response below on how to escalate tickets. Also a word of warning, do not discuss/disclose private conversations between you and NQ with the public. This violates the confidentiality policy as well as the DU code of conduct and can thus lead to account sanctions.
  16. In my experience both as an FC and forward scout, a local coms channel that lists everyone in an area makes combat engagements and related activities really boring. The instant feedback and wealth of information it provides is just too powerful. Instead I suggest a slight modification, whereby players only show up in local chat if they choose to speak (similar to WH space in eve online). This still accomplishes your goal but also adds a lot more unpredictability which in turn can lead to hilarious situations. Now players are forced to think. Are those radar contacts enemy reinforcements? Alliance members? Aliens? A third party looking to party? Are they using multi-crewed ships? Are they skilled veterans or a bunch of newcomers? Is it just one guy chucking out random unmanned constructs to try and distract/intimidate you?
  17. I am not sure where you are getting your information but a wipe on release has not been officially confirmed. Also while erasing skill points has been discussed as a possible option, it too has not been decided yet. Please review this forum post, as of writing it has the most up to date information. If you have additional questions or thoughts on the matter, I recommend you add them to this discussion thread.
  18. Another interesting idea would be to dedicate each podcast to a particular dev or team. There are quite a few unsung heroes at NQ that really deserve some time in the limelight.
  19. I appreciate the effort but when I heard podcast, I was honestly expecting a bit more content. Perhaps it was a lack of questions or maybe its not ideal to distract the dev team for longer periods. Either way, from my perspective it lacked substance and just left me wanting more. I know bite sized media is popular right now but please consider releasing these less frequently and instead strive to hit the 30 minute mark for each episode. Also don't hesitate to include some off-topic questions, funny jokes, or interesting dev stories involving pigeons.
  20. The decision is really up to you, just ask yourself if your enjoying the game enough to re-subscribe. If the answer is no, please consider providing some feedback on how it can be improved and maybe check in occasionally to see if it recaptures your interest. Release is indeed coming soon so you can expect most of the upcoming patches to be focused around polish and balance changes rather than completely new features. With regards to a wipe, nothing is certain yet and I encourage you share your thoughts on the topic in this dedicated forum thread.
  21. Its hard to give a definitive answer. Overlap checks can be a little inconsistent especially on larger ships. I recommend you review your engineering report occasionally and adjust if you notice any problems. As to legality, this kind of overlap is extremely minor, to the point its really just cosmetic. The overlap restrictions were added to deal with placements that gave players strategic advantages (ie: overlapping engines). I think your fine to continue like this, just be aware that NQ could make revisions in the future if players find a way to abuse it. Speaking of which, please submit a bug report if you do encounter any overlaps that could have the potential for abuse.
  22. Most of the physical rewards were for kickstarters and founders. With that said a patron supporter pack includes a Dual Universe T-Shirt as well as the following in-game/digital rewards: x2 Sanctuary Territory Units x3 Giftable Beta Keys x12 Dual Access Coupons (DAC) The Black Earth Legacy Outfit The Black Earth Arkship Passenger Outfit Personal Pets (Level 1,2, and 3) x2 Resurrection Nodes x1 In-Game Patron Title x10 Character Animation Pack x20 Furniture Set x9 Character Customization Tokents The ability to reserve your name Digital Artbook (PDF Format) Digital Soundtrack x1 Arkship Cryogenic Tube (decorative element) x2 Character Redesign Token x500 Fireworks Forum Title (Patron) Content Creator Pack Your name in the Official Credits For details on the other supporter packs, please consult the wayback machine as the DU website has since been updated and all the old links are invalid: http://dualthegame.com/en/pledge#. If anyone can find the equivalent on the new website, please let me know where and I will update this post. Also note that any founders who did not purchase a supporter pack will still receive a subset of the above (courtesy gift from NQ for your early support). See this page for details.
  23. Hi Caladhras, Once you login, you can update your account's email address on this page https://www.dualuniverse.game/account/profile. Note that it can sometimes take a little bit for the changes to propagate throughout Novaquark's various services (ie: forums, launcher, etc). If you can confirm that the new address was registered, I would wait an hour or so and if it still does not work, submit a ticket to support via https://support.dualthegame.com/hc/en-us/requests/new. Give them a heads-up if you have 2FA enabled, as that feature was recently implemented and could potentially have unintended effects on this process.
  24. Merci d'avoir partagé Tekhamon. J'admire vraiment le dévouement dont vous et les autres gagnants avez fait preuve.
  25. I have a few points for you to consider. You may disagree with them, but I believe its worth thinking about. A code of conduct precisely specifying each and every potential variation/interpretation of a rule would be much harder for the average gamer to comprehend. It can also lead to enforcement issues whereby moderators become inflexible to special cases/situations. Conversely, a vague code of conduct allows moderators and staff more leeway to punish players purposely misbehaving and warn more inadvertent violations. While being able to adopt the name of a mischievous AI or impersonate other key personnel is cause for concern. There appears to be far more pressing matters right now. Section 10 of the Code of Conduct (baring a few exceptions) has been adequate to discourage abuse of this "bug" and could also explain why it was not given a high priority. Speaking of priority, remember there is a constant stream of player ideas, suggestions, and issues that are all being proclaimed as important. Its easy to get lost in the shouting, which is why submitting a ticket is still the most effective way to report an issue. It both ensures that the devs are informed of the problem and lets them assign it a more suitable (and unbiased) priority.
