  1. As we all know DU Wipe hype has currently crippled the game after the post.  Less and less people are logging in as a result sadly.  This is also a good opportunity to go back to original plans perhaps?

     

    1) DU was always suggested to be a Civ building game with one safe zone.  You cannot build civilizations if everything is protected on every world under a safe zone bubble.  We should remove the safe zones that were added and go back to the original plans of the game.  The purpose for example of sanctuary was a protected world (I presume Haven is too).  Without NPC's the game needs that conflict mechanic so should you need to go out you need 'friends' not totally do everything solo.  It is an MMO after all.  I still remember early Beta people did such that and when hauling ore used defence ships for escorts.  Now we warp from safe zone to safe zone.  With all mining in a protected areas you can never remove a person who got 'lucky' and found an infinate ore.  So why not go back to original plans from the get 'go'.  Or at best keep Alioth, Thades, Madis etc Safe but everywhere else non-safe zone.  

     

    2) Element sinks both PvE, PvP are 100% needed or you'll go back to this situation in 12 months time or less.  Even in PvP element lives dont disappear reguarly (may more in Athena as more add voxels to builds).  Again industry needs the ability to make quanta and it is an ore sink so 100% makes logical sense.  Or alternatively introduce a 'decay' formula.  You use it more it slowly loses HP to where every fully repair reduces the elements max HP down till you eventually need to replace it.  This worked GREAT in Star Wars Galaxies.  

     

    3) Mining could have 'fields' that sporadically change.  Worked great in Star Wars Galaxies.  It would mean you may have to re-scan, redeploy every so often.  But ore values change in time so one field is never 100% to remain like that forever.

     

    4) Add NPC's for PvE.  Eve has it, why doesnt DU? the events we've had are not always brilliant but sadly NPC's would give people to target something and capture (good for practice)

     

    5) Add alliances.  Legit alliances so they show different colours on your tooltip?  i.e Organge Friendly, Green Org and Red anyone else.  Alliances can be declared by the Super legate.  IF you wanted to expand you can have alliance constructs.

     

    6) Base shields extend to all constructs including planetary shields for TW (when it is added) timer system needs tweaking but concept is 100% there.  Of course this would work well with planetary atmo pvp so maybe a full future expansion.  Plan it in place?

     

    7) If an expliot occurs REMOVE what they gained.  Dont shrug it off.

     

    😎 Removing alts (free Beta Keys).  Obviously if a wipe happens this will force people to buy their alts or not.  Legit doesnt bother me if someone pays for 10 alts to mission run.  Situation we are in is some people have 80 Beta account alts for free!!!

     

    9) More Lore, more events.

     

    10) player market and taxes.  We need removing the NPC ones and bringing player markets in.  Come on why have NPC ones when Freeport for example is excellent or Utopia Station where legit we need player driven content

     

    This is a snapshot.  This could be an amazing game title people love building, people want a legit combat mechanic, people want that civ building too.

    I'm assuming here that Nano L cores/Warships without voxels or ships with engines 50m away from the main body or ships are not in 'their vision' thus they are maybe thinking every ship should be viable and thus less on cross sections?

    Not opposed to a wipe as much as I would be gutted the economy is destroyed because there is no Element Destruction or ore sinks/quanta sinks in DU.  I would say keep BP's and Talent points but everything else I can live with as it would mean everyone is equal from the 'start'.  That means trillions removed from the game, ore etc. anything abused from the past like schematics will go and should they bring in Ore in and ore out then it will be far more stable going forward!

    Looking forward to how this will work.

     

    Alien Cores - Siege timer?  Proper Siege mechanics?  If so that would be good as it gives a window to defend otherwise one side will just have them all a bit like Asteroids were on release.

     

    Ships - If they explode need to explode.  Currently the chance the ship is damaged/elements is minimal at least in the past you had to repair to keep it operational and weapons etc needed to be replaced.

     

    Wipe - I'd be gutted but for the health of a game on release maybe just maybe it is needed.  The economy is dead because ore goes in, ore doesnt go out!.  Why?  No element destruction or Voxels.  Heck old system you had to replace damaged voxels so a million copper/Steel etc actually got used up.  Wipe would remove everything (maybe not BP's of ships/structures etc).  Obviously maybe not talent points as those were invested at a steady rate without any chance of abusing game systems or funky missions via VR.   I'll say i'm gutted if it happens but I wont be totally devestated.  Gameworld also removes dead stuff from dead players a soft reset.

     

    Shields linked to core - Maybe yes.  But tweaks need to make everything viable.

     

    VFX - Not needed core content does!

     

    Safezones - New moon? why?  Fully in Safe zone? curious idea.  Does that mean finally the safe zones are coming down?  Back to finally a Civ building game to work together on?  Want to haul ask for escort or fully risk it.

     

    TW - Much needed gives orgs a reason for orgs.

     

    AvA - Imagine pew pew to defend crew etc?

    Mass to speed is just the final nail in the coffin for Ships that are anyway now just Museum pieces.

    Real balance means for me that shields would bleed DMG and a portion of DPS gets past shield at all times so this would force people to build with voxels and not too small,

    so your speed changes would have an impact.

    As it stands now it would only impact Haulers. Once Aphelia missions for 3 hours now how long will it take?

    I also support the idea of ships shields being size locked to have ship classes.

     

    Also need when a core is killed the ship explodes.  Lives lost on everything or fully destroyed elements too :)

    No but an XS ship shouldnt be one shotted by an L core.  Consider them the 'fighters' of the game.  Sadly currently they tend to be one shotted quite quickly.

  8. Wrecks are totally disappointing.  I've found an XS core empty and a S core empty with basic weapons whoo!.

     

    I've even done a 40SU circle arouMnd Ion and also didnt meet anyone else out there (so no PvP which is fine I guess) and I didnt find anything and boy it took way too long out of my life to do it with 2 SU range.  As much as I am OK ish with the asteroid mechanics I'm surprised they didnt tweak it to include wrecks.  They could have added them to it not so you can 'track one down fully' but at least point you in the right directly and even potentially end it so its 'nearby within 10SU of this location'.

     

    Just a thought!

  9. When we go mining we bring a mining ship and a few S core defenders just in case.  Usually roids we go to we work out how long it takes us to get there so we know thats roughly how long we got till perhaps someone will turn up.

     

    A better alternative is go to pre-discovered as people less likely to go back to those.

  10. Some good and some poor changes.

     

    What is DU?  Is DU a civ building game sandbox or autominer with minecraft building?  The Civ is out of DU IMO.

     

    See PvP as said by Pann/Deckard was all about if you want the best reward it wont be safe.  Now literally you dont need to mine roids thus PvP is defacto dead, boomed, ended...... I may as well pick up that 5l per hour T10l per hour T5 hexes as well I can spam so many more of them!.  As much as Legion are the dominant force as an alliance it has been fun clashing with them at asteroids and skirmishes around mission hubs.  This just pushes it more to why bother.

     

    I guess I struggle to see from the original vision of one safe area, building alliances, building ships/warships etc and potentially clashing but equally someone can trade, build and feed those wars.

     

    Perhaps with all this ore we need voxels to play a part on ships again (ore used in armour and blown off) or decay of elements so we need to replace elements from time to time in non-pvp to help stimulate the economy.  Btw I am not wholly against cheap ore prices as to me prices now for ore are fine and it is a bit like the old days.  We just need a use for that ore that also disappears by other means.

    I enjoy DU PvP occasionally it is very expensive because there is no firm goal yet ( roll on roadmap for TW) but equally I get the lean towards the past.

     

    The advantage of needing voxels and losing them means ore is used and thus industry is needed.

     

    Anyway Shield levels are fine because Shields strip very fast as NQ increased weapon damages drastically from patch to patch.

     

    Still some good thoughts there N19 and welcome back to the game.

  12. You do realise the main issue is that it doesnt have a playerbase ?  If we had more players the demand for ore would be far greater plus removing armour from ships literally killed the need for voxels too.

     

    If we bring back for example armour, element destruction (Or decay) ore will be needed without tweaking industry significantly.

    DU is a creative game and a space game, you need a place where they can fly without PvP.

    HOWEVER :
    - PvP is needed on the outer rim planets this year
    - full PvP: from space to land action.
    - And remove the T3 / T4 / T5 asteroids which spawn towards the security zone. Any fight must take place far from it.

    With this the PvP community will already have a lot to do and we will have a start in the economy.
    Once this first thing in place we can talk about it again.

     

    PvP and element destruction provides the loop for removal of broken elements so need for them to be made etc.

     

    I agree with the safe zone area tho you are stating as that is well established but these ones around other planets seem counter productive.  I just dont know what they will do!
