  1. I don't agree with you on many of these. The ship show had way more ships than the market and ran smooth -except for certain ships that had lua scripts - those did not run well at all. This suggests that the engine does fine - the scripting side is a mess though. NQ has stated that they are tasking a dev specifically with working on the LUA implementation. I can't defend the PvP as it is. The implementation was flawed on paper. It should never have made it into a single line of code as it stands. Targeting speed and lockon distance being core based was - shortsighted to put it nicely. NQ's communication is abysmal. I cannot defend it. Why do I find out more about what JC says about DU from 3rd party sources than from the main site/discord/foum? https://massivelyop.com/2020/10/17/some-assembly-required-the-future-of-dual-universes-puzzle-events-and-development/ WHY am I reading this on this site? Why do I have to go out of my way to find communication about the game I kickstarted!? They HAVE fixed plenty of bugs and exploits. I can't defend that they often broke stuff to do so - but that neither here nor there - they are fixing exploits. I agree that rule enforcement is nonexistance and their threats have been toothless. Whatever happened to the dupers? Nothing. RDMS is extremely powerful and extremely complicated and extremely clunky. I have mixed feelings about it - I think it has tremendous potential once the bugs are sorted out. I don't think it's fair to NQ to say that they can't make it work - they just are trying to do too much with an abysmal clunky and unintuitive UI. The idea behind the system is solid, the implementation is not. The subscription system is terrible yes. It's what I expect to see from 1 man indie projects.
  2. [CITATION NEEDED] 80% digging, 10% building, 10% AFK auto piloting
  3. We already get false reading from nodes that are fully mined out...so NQ already implemented that 'feature'. The problem with mining isn't that it's boring - it is sure - but it's that you have to do SO DAMN MUCH of it. Having to jump though additional hoops while mining would not make me suddenly feel 'engaged'. Mining improvements should involve around adding rewards and complexity. For example even stuff like mining in Warframe was 'better': You know - how you had to get the bar in just the right spot to get extra loot.... What does DU have? Wait till sphere big. Click. Wait till sphere big. Click. *die inside a little* Wait till sphere big. Click.
  4. Hmm - if you made that silence them it would have been a GOOD suggestion.
  5. I really wish NQ had not pushed back the planet rework and ore regeneration - because the current distribution is just not sustainable. High tiers are soul crushing to find.
  6. It's the LUA scripts. There were a handful of ships that DID cause freezes.
  7. Eh, DU has fundamental issues that are getting people either bored or burned out - stuff like this is just icing on the cake. Sad reality is that even if these guys didn't get their base stolen, they would have burned out on the drudgery of mining all day to do anything and quit anyway...it just may have taken longer. I legitimately cannot understand how NQ expects people to 'enjoy' hunting for or mining high tier ore.
  8. Slow down Satan. Every single one of those would make the hell that is mining even worse.
  9. Keep in mind it's very possible that your industry may be larger than 10 L hub can store - which will result in a BP that is useless because there is no way to deploy it...NQ has yet to respond on how to deal with that scenario.
  10. I usually hang out in Support chat in game. I have never seen a request for aid in recovering a ship go unanswered by the playerbase for Alioth or Sanc. Yes when people slam their ship into Ion and respawn on Sactuary the community is a bit hesitant to warp over to Ion to save their wreck for free - but that's not unreasonable.
  11. Nobody is forcing you to use Tier 1 scrap. Why in the world are you not using https://github.com/Dimencia/DU-Orbital-Hud/ to deal with brakes?
  12. That's why it should be per ton. Currently new players die when they appoach the market and their fps drops to single digits and they either slam into the ground or fly into the no flyzone... The fine doesn't have to be high. 100 per ton per hour after the first hour is not going to be a major issue for anyone but be enough of an annoyance that people will not just leave ships rotting at the market. It will also cut out this nonsense that people are doing by plopping down multiple 10L hubs on the landing pad to use as a warehouse for their trading activities.
  13. To be fair, we don't know if there will be many other sources and they just got to be the first to get it. So as of right now it's impossible to say what the value of the reward was - but JC was pretty clear that it wasn't worthless. I'm personally less concerned about the actual impact of how the ore was distributed rather the perception of the whole thing.
  14. poop honeycomb - only crafted by hand - with full animations - and gagging sounds
  15. Oh man - this is too easy! Bad ideas: https://upvote.dualuniverse.game/suggestions/125686/offline-messaging-system https://upvote.dualuniverse.game/suggestions/124878/space-buddies https://upvote.dualuniverse.game/suggestions/123630/leaderboard https://upvote.dualuniverse.game/suggestions/125888/construct-to-construct-item-transfer https://upvote.dualuniverse.game/suggestions/125688/add-survival https://upvote.dualuniverse.game/suggestions/125870/wheels https://upvote.dualuniverse.game/suggestions/125702/ingame-voicechat https://upvote.dualuniverse.game/suggestions/125835/harvest-trees https://upvote.dualuniverse.game/suggestions/125985/active-respawn-node-list https://upvote.dualuniverse.game/suggestions/125046/agriculture
  16. That is the sense that people get though when NQ seems to communicate more to streamers and orgs than community as a whole. I have asked NQ to host reddit AMAs quarterly or anything else to directly involve the whole community rather than a tiny subset via a streamer - but heard nothing back.
  17. Sounds like if you mashed the yes button there will be one less terrible person in DU.
  18. Great, so lets be clear here, if there was a MMO where only a handful of players can 'win' - I sure wouldn't play it - because that doesn't sound like fun to me because I know full well that despite how much I poopsock I don't come close to the level of the top .0001% of the players who stand an actual chance. That is the whole damn issue with RPO and this event. It caters to outliers. That's what makes it a bad event. That's what makes RPO a terrible game. That's the whole point. That's why looking at RPO and saying DU is like it is absolutely toxic. A good event is where a much larger part of the community can participate and much larger number can win. This wasn't it. The worst thing is that DU is building on a foundation of other REAL games not absurd fiction that did events and did them so much better that it blows my mind that JC does not see the DU event as an absolute failure. Did you play Elite? Did you participate in the alien event? You know....this one: https://www.forbes.com/sites/insertcoin/2017/01/06/the-elite-dangerous-alien-discovery-is-one-of-the-coolest-gaming-events-ive-ever-seen/#5f5179c37389 That was in my opinion an example of an event that was well done. Who won? The community did.
  19. That's an interesting take - so who where the characters who solved the puzzle in RPO?
  20. I'm more concerned about player tactics and uhh 'playstyles' and devs being surprised by them. The current PvP meta is a perfect example. It should have been obvious that the rules as they are favored xs cubes with L weapons and crippled everything else. It should have been obvious on paper. Yet here we are. This is why I'm actually dreading territory warfare despite being very pvp focused at heart. If they released pvp in this shape, and yeah I know it's the first pass and yeah I know that they know it's broken, what shape will TW be in on day one? The fact is that the pvp as implemented was non viable and yet was totally missed. What will TW be like if the 'vision' blinds them to the reality of how such games are played? JC is too blinded by what he wants DU to be to see what it actually is and is too busy imagining how players will play the game instead of actually looking at how other games like this were played. It's almost like he's willfully ignorant or just outright deceiving himself. The interview is a perfect example of the mindset. The people who solve the puzzle used a bug to find the artifacts. This is what happened. No JC - the fact that they made a lua script to further abuse this bug doesn't make it more like RPO and doesn't mean that technology was being developed to solve a puzzle. A bug was further being abused - or leveraged if you prefer to use a less polarizing term - to solve the puzzle. That is what happed. There can be no debate around this. This is where so much of the disconnect and frustration I have is. Use an untended mechanic to steal a ship? You're bad for using an 'exploit'. Use a bug to find artifacts? Get an interview with JC praising you for it. Come on.....
  21. Eh not really - the artifacts were not supposed to show up on radar but did. This was a massive decrease in difficulty.
  22. You guys are really weird. Cars without windows and doors are way more fun.
  23. Did I say it wasn't fun? It was unfair. It was borderline rigged. It was extremely exclusive. So maybe it was fun for about two dozen people - and if JC's goal is to make a game that is going to have thousands of players that is fun for a handful that is indeed the RPO structure. Every day I ask myself the same question. Many have asked themselves the same thing and come to conclusion that this is in fact a game they should not play. The fact that this is become that game is why I made this post.
