Simple Feature Request!

Juvenius Drakonius made this suggestion on the Discord:

Can we get some kind of static URL to an image that we can upload a replacement for, or that we can use as a redirect to a different approved image?

The idea is that we can do things like news banners or event notices where we just update the source image, and the screen code across the verse stays the same. So we could have people put a screen with a quick image on their ship to Juvenius's news site, and every time he uploads a new edition, he could just update the static link and everyone's screens would be updated. Or if AngryDad wanted to have an image that showed some details about a race night prize, or some upcoming event, or a running tally of how much money has been won in that death sphere thing of his, one link could always show the most up to date info.

Seems like a good simple low-hanging fruit change that would give some cool abilities to spread information in game, and given that the images would still have to go through the approval process, it wouldn't be a bypass for the approval process.

Thx KoruzariusGreat job at wording the idea. I do some times news stand stuff, funny memes and such....Imagine a lot of players having a screen with - Juvenius Links - or newstands. This would be such a game quality of life feature! low coding cost, high player engagement! A true low hanging fruit.

NQ Do this! its at most 10 lines of code, its just a simple URL redirect.

But then there would be no validation that the content is appropriate.  Alternatively juve could upload his story and share that link to du so anyone can share ingame

As an advertiser in-game (although probably not in the future though depending on NQ) I can already say that this would be massively helpful and allow us to get content out there instead of having to go to every single station and manually updating individual programming boards. Although we could VR around easily enough and updates are as simple as updating the 'host' preview, then copying the boards contents and pasting it. It would just be a lot of loading screens to contend with, and the nodes would add to the overall costs on top of it being a general time sink.

This would also allow updates could also be made on request and much more cheaper instead of more expensive and only doing it every so often or whenever a queue limit is reached.

Should clarify that this only involves updating individual images. Things involving coding new ads and what not would require a visit but that can be a part of the initial cost. ALTHOUGH, now that I think about it, this would be awesome for coders pushing out updates to their scripts for their users.

Alpha has something similar that was removed for a reason. And that reason is that it would be a matter of milliseconds before this feature was misused to show some d**k pics or similar..

If you can only show approved images, then the d1ck p1ck was approved by the interface...same as it is now.

Yeah I didn't catch the "using approved images" part, so my mind instantly went to the old free for all image URL feature that was removed for obvious reasons.
