  1. Good to hear. Now we just need the platform to show the expo in... eventually...
  2. In the end, a lot is relative. Someone may say they offer freedoms and think of certain things - and not be wrong. Someone could just use the term for marketing purposes but be relatively restrictive. Another may refer to "fight the power" (fight for freedom), which is relative again. In the end, you'd have to ask the individual organizations or individuals what they mean specifically. A lot is also common sense - you, as someone looking at the organization and promotion, sometimes or often have to set things into perspective and context. There's always a few rules once you join an organization. Perhaps the debate could become more specific if specific examples were given - if one wanted to prevent "org blaming" by pointing fingers, one could just use a more anonymous example. So far it seems to be slightly too abstract for me.
  3. There's certainly some charm to that general idea of portraying a crew, and there's some known series out there that pick up on that idea. Firefly comes to mind, for example. At the same time, I feel that some players may consider this to be too restrictive or unfitting for their personal needs (or without knowing of better alternatives within such a concept). Or maybe, as others have pointed out, too, they simply think the time to invest much into that is not right yet. In short, time will tell. But I'm sure if this game will not fail and become successful, demands will be met.
  4. Firs- oh wait. Still a few hours here, mate. You have a good one, you future person, you!
  5. Slight addition: Ground / traffic component may as well include potential "highway" patrols, if there will be highways. Or speedway. Come up with a fancy name, people! OP updated. ---- Still looking for eager motivated projects that intend to create a larger urban area that is looking to establish a dedicated police force (city or just district wide depending on size) or boost their own forces with this. This could mostly fit for a city that isn't purely for a faction but open to different groups and visitors. The best thing is that specifications (such as laws and all that) will be worked out with the 'other side' meaning that integration should not be hard or bumpy, nor would there be mistrust due to handing off specific executive abilities to a different entity that is not part of one's own faction in the classic sense. The possible advantages? You don't necessarily have to create and manage your very own security forces for larger urban areas and save time, resources and possibly a few nerves. You still want to rely on your own forces for an urban area? That's perfectly fine and reasonable, but as they say: The more, the merrier. Urban areas could be at risks or simply stretch forces thin if they eventually reach a larger size. In this case, your existing forces could receive backup from a dedicated entity. You wouldn't have to worry (as much) about training and providing equipment, too. This project is backed by a corporation that will create its equipment, vehicles, gear and whatnot unless sufficient volunteers or other supporters arrive until then. There's also another possible advantage for all: Integrating many players into your security structure without the potential obstacles or requirements (or problems). You can essentially outsource and boost some of your security with this. You free up resources if you do not have to dedicate all of your forces to protecting your grand city, in a nutshell, or even boost it if you dedicate most of your forces to the city and then have an additional force at hand to help when it matters. Questions? Something dubious? Very feasible, not feasible? You are possibly interested in creating something large? Just ask - the best way to clear up confusion or problems. And should you be interested in working together, please send a message detailing your faction, group or city project. Better start early and have things ready once gameplay becomes relevant than wait and miss many opportunities, I think. Besides, forming bonds early can result in the most strong ones.
  6. The secret master of the void republic enters the stage! Welcome (back).
  7. Wait a minute.... Lord Void! And this is the Void Republic? Are you the secret master, the Lord of the Void Republic?!
  8. Greetings, This is what I dug out just now. It's quite a bit older and could use some work. It was designed for the Repopulation team but given that project's turn, we'll likely never see the planet Atlas again. Perhaps you have some experience with the creation of multimedia? Perhaps, you are possibly interested in joining a small team and help it grow further? Everything has potential pros and cons; large and small organizations - all with their niche. Many projects here show that dedication to a cause can create something nice, something that could last. You can take part in that creative process and you'll certainly be proud once you look back at the achievements. Larger organizations may have it easier, but achieving success in a small team that works together well just has a slightly different rewarding touch to it. At least that is what I thoroughly believe. Why? Our experience in Minecraft has taught and shown us how it can be if a relatively small team achieves great things and rises to the top in a server community. Could this be achieved again? That is uncertain and depends on many factors. But it is not even required. What matters is the fulfilling journey in good and bad times. Will it be easy? Not at all. In smaller teams, each individual member bears more responsibility on average. But that just makes it more rewarding for the right people. Perhaps you are among those. If you are interested, send a private message. Of course, you can also inquire via PM or here if you have questions or feedback. Thanks for your attention.
  9. Streamlined (or sleek) design. I think those descriptions fit, but regardless, it makes it easy to look at.
  10. We're going to utilize parts of Civil Protection / Overwatch protocols for security or police branches, but beyond that and my nickname being "Combine" on steam randomly (and I guess me RP'ing in that setting elsewhere from time to time) there's not much organization relevance. We'll consider assisting anyone that intends to build a citadel-like building however, if policies and whatnot match to some extend.
  11. Just saying for those being nitpicky about it Rule of cool / entertainment Technology
  12. Technology can fix it. Why do you often hear combat sounds in large space battles in sci-fi movies? Viewer enjoyment, it would be different any other way. Smart technology could in theory simulate relatively fitting sounds, thus explaining all of that stuff. It would help because we're used to audio feedback and in turn it would actually be helpful with the peripherals and whatnot. Something "explodes" nearby? You'd hear it and be aware.
  13. Possible ways on how to aim for a compromise: - Some kind of liability confirmation for the players (they have to agree on X) - Limit length to some extend - Offer a license that costs a bit in order to utilize such a system to limit it, and thus make checks more easier or possible in the first place Given the potential work to establish it and potential care required after implementation or possible legal aspects, it's unlikely to happen in a game such as this. Sadly. If you have seen such systems work in other private communities you may get kind of "spoiled". It's like SWG's housing system. You see nice things ones and start to hope to see them elsewhere. But it's likely got going to happen. At least not in the way you're used to.
  14. It's somewhat saddening (to me) that people usually see the problems and would rather avoid things than try them out. Of course you are completely right - the potential is there. But at the same time, many would benefit from something like this, adding spice or immersion to their areas. In G-Mod this works well. Players can place radios (or speakers, forms vary) and use any audio file they can upload in certain places. For example we added heavy construction site sounds such as drilling to a construction site and it fit quite well. Or you could play propaganda broadcasts or just news over the speakers. Perhaps allowing this in player controlled areas with a way of "accountability" (holding players responsible if they abuse it by showing what player placed a speaker or uploaded a certain file) would make it a relatively safe thing to use.
  15. I'm for the G-Mod radio system where players can basically put any audio they can upload to specific sources into ingame radios or broadcasting systems. This allows them to simulate pumping music in a club, air raid sirens or just some announcement or ambiance / background sounds. Ideal for customization. With some mechanics in place to allow it to be optional or "mutable" per source (not in general, ideally?) on the push of a button and whatnot, then it could work well.
  16. While I (at least with my neutral or calm self) think that some replies are or were perhaps questionable in this whole "situation" (beyond just this thread) it seems apparent to me that the, as the saying goes "kid fell into the well". I understand that some replies or messages to you were perhaps not that nice and that taunts or aggression one may receive can build it up within yourself. Again, some things were perhaps not okay and some may have behaved in a "sensationalist" way while munching popcorn. But it's not like the base problem came out of nowhere and one can't fully blame "the community". In short, your organization or those advertising it were not without fault in this whole "mess". For your own sake or interest in getting any long-term footing, I suggest you stop with the cynic or sarcastic responses - it's not winning you any flowers here among some regulars and no matter how "wrong" they could be, it encourages people to pick up arms against you way later if this continues. You also don't help yourself if you generalize and assume those being vocal against you being "the" community. They are a part of it but sarcastic remarks about the overall community kind of indirectly taunt the others who don't post about you or are just silent. In short, it's potentially counter-productive in the long run, too. What to (possibly) do now If you want to remain somewhat on (or regain) an equal footing in comparison to the others here again I suggest you "man up" and ignore remarks you consider too taunting. Be a bit like a politician, I suppose. Focus your recruitment efforts in one thread - I see no reason to outsource anything until it becomes a notably different thing, and advertising that you have high positions is no reason to outsource in my book. That can be done so in the main thread as it perfectly relates to the main thread of your organization and your organization itself. What could be a reason to outsource (= make a new thread) if it still loosely relates to your organization? It could be an initiative that doesn't relate to recruitment. "We want to plant new gardens in the bombed area, who wants to help?" for example. Another potential reason to make new threads is when you want to advertise individual branches of your organization. This is more tricky, however, and not advisable unless these can be considered relatively autonomous and different. And to be honest, I wouldn't do it in your shoes at this time as that could also be considered "spam". Thus those things should also remain in the main thread for some time until the game becomes playable and until you have sufficient numbers to allow more autonomous branches. Until then advertising them individually probably doesn't make much sense or doesn't net you much. To summarize: - Assess whether you want to continue with this idea or organization - Less sarcastic remarks / man up / other ways of dealing with criticism - Focus organization related recruitment efforts in one thread Do or don't, the rest is up to you. Good luck.
  17. Greetings and welcome. Perhaps you could add what other games you play or go for, due to the fact that DU will be quite some time away. Timezone could also be nice. While you could also tell anyone who contacts you via PM, doing it here may take some additional work or input from your shoulders.
  18. I guess because some are 'delicate little snowflakes'
  19. Just a piece of advice: Sending random unprovoked messages "en mass" can quickly net you negative reputation - and it would be relatively stupid counter-productive as that would achieve the opposite of what you try to do and tamper recruitment. Perhaps you find a few members among those you message - the more you send, the higher the chance by abstract statistics. But I question how you may be disliked in relation. For those already in an organization or those who are not yet certain but quickly notice copy-paste with little effort, it's likely mostly annoying. And frankly, a one-liner with a dropped link is possibly annoying if sent twice by one user (mistake, maybe) and then again in similar fashion by another user mere minutes later.
  20. Not much to report. We have updated our promotional website (»www.vulturecorp.space) and changed a few things here and there. It's slightly better now and the career section has some additional information. As always, work is never done. We're also more specifically looking to fill certain positions now. However, this mostly affects Star Citizen, with DU being relatively far away at this point and more of an abstract value.
