  1. Seen some ridiculous, no nothing, posts on this forum but this one takes the biscuit. Well done for showing you have zero understanding of the server architecture of this game......
  2. Internet chat rooms were around 20 years before the birth of the internet, every day is a school day around here.......
  3. Probably replying on Google Chrome........ irony 1/ Because they are trying to keep everyone happy, because some people only use the forum, others only twitter, others want Facebook, others want it by email. For me they need to do either all of them or pick a single channel 2/ People shouldnt have to do things outside of game - but checking the forum is ok??? Infact if the game is down, how is anyone supposed to get any information. Why is Discord any different? 3/ Whilst I agree that discord is not the best way to show information - I love the threaded conversations of a forum, the announcement channel is just a series of chronological posts which you could argue are EASIER to read than forum posts which you have to open individually Anyway, i hate all the methods they use, I want patch notes sent to me by FAX and server announcement by carrier pigeon. I have spoken to loads of other people and they demands it too.
  4. You do realise this doesnt make sense, Discord is a far newer form of communication, in this instance it is the forum that is the cave painting.........
  5. Whilst I agree that the company should update as many outlets as possible not sure the issue with having Discord and just watching the announcement channel....... personally I think communication is EXCELLENT on Discord, that is their chosen method. Prehaps you are suffering from a lack of information because you choose not to follow their preferred method of comms.
  6. The game was running so much better than this in Alpha (infact it ran really well in the headstart week), the majority of these problems are due to server load. You can see that with the issue that game is having, the servers cannot cope with the player actions. The reason they have not yet 'scaled' properly is MONEY, they have been pretty honest about that, they need money to upgrade the number of servers within the mesh, the more servers they add, the more machines in locations to deal with requests (such as mining calls, scans, players building etc). I am pretty confident that they can sort the issues, if the game was performing as well as it did in alpha then it would be ok (it would still have a lot of work to do). When it works, like it did, this game starts to live up to its massive potential, it is a real shame people arent seeing that.
  7. Who do you think put the first ones on there ?
  8. Some of us have been playing for three years because we are fine to put up with the issues, because DU gives us something we cant get anywhere else. The problem is that new players dont get to reach that part because they are put off by these issues, made worse by the fact that: Some of the issue are specific to new players, because they are in zones with high load The company need money, so had to open it up, more money = better servers and the game will then run much better (as it did in alpha) but short term, more players = worse performance (catch 22) DU is 100% my favourite game, I have not played anything else since BETA launched, I 100% understand why the new user experience will put off some players, as will the lack of certain features (such as pvp) but some people will be like me and be happy to put up with the issue because they also see the incredible potential. Being an ALPHA backer I am lucky and dont have to sub, but if I did have to, I would pay it no problem BUT I know what the game offers, it will be a shame if people leave without seeing that.
  9. pretty much every key product has seen a surge of products since bots were nerfed, I KNOW because i watch the markets, I AM an industrialist......
  10. At the market terminals I am talking about. LMAO yeah because a Remote Control is something that is vital for new players on start up....... of course noone is building them yet, people are focusing on stuff that people will buy, not niche products.
  11. Lol we are not all enemies, you are a bit paranoid matey. The market is going fine, I have been selling on it since launch (I didnt do the ore rush) and the increase in seller has been crazy since the bots nerf. Today i visited every market in Alioth / Sanc moon, EVERY market had players in it. I have NEVER seen anything close to that before. Please dont take this the wrong way, but i dont think you have a full grasp of the market. The thing is the game is not ready for pvp players like you, sorry but that is just the way it is. Let us build the world first, then when pvp is working, I will pay you plenty of quanta to keep my stuff safe. You will have a role, just not quite yet.
  12. There already are 'standards' defined by core sizes and elements such as gates. If you want a landing pad to fit a certain core, you build it to a size to accommodate that core, if you want a ship to fit through certain gates you build it that way. Not sure there is any need for unofficial 'standards'
  13. There was a quick poll on Discord the other day, of the 30 or so that replied I think the average age was 38! So plenty of us oldies around.
  14. Серверы работают только в определенное время, следующий тест начнется завтра в течение 14 дней. Вы должны были получить электронное письмо со ссылкой для загрузки клиента. Извините, использовал Google переводчик
  15. Played Eve for 4-5 years and never died whilst mining, died plenty of times to pvp but never whilst out mining. There were loads of places you could mine mid sec without ever being bothered. I also think we might have a different definition of 'casual', I see it as someone who is not as dedicated (plays the game casually), you seem to class them all as imbeciles. As for persistence, I am not that fussed, i am hoping that the majority of conflicts have the scale that makes it a moot point.
  16. I would disagree with this, firstly because I love mining. So do a lot of other people, I used to be a casual miner in Eve. Was part of a mining corp who would message me if they were going out on a job and I would join them if I was up for it. Several others in the corp did the same thing, sometimes would go every week, sometimes once a month. The same goes with hauling, most people might find it boring but I have mates who have played Elite since launch and has pretty much spent the whole game hauling goods. They are more than happy shipping stuff through galaxies whilst watching Netflix. People enjoy doing different things, I see a 'casual' player as someone who is keen on doing a certain task (be it mining, building, pvp), when they are around but not really keen on the bigger picture stuff or having to commit specific time. What I am not talking about is signing up casuals and forcing them to mine, I mean finding casual miners and giving them a role and the tools to do it.
  17. Casual players are not useless if they are part of an org. For example, if I am running a miner org, during prime time I would need players to move cargo, mine, fly cargo, build outposts etc. All the stuff to do the job can be supplied by the org, the casuals just do the jobs they want to do.
  18. Pretty sure something like this will be the case, with only basic resources on Alioth. What it should hopefully do is encourage people to start shipping in ores from other planets. Alioth will have the most demand, plenty of people will try to supply, I know I will be. I agree 100% that any peace should be player made. I still think you wont find many of the key resources on the home planet though.
  19. Surely if you build this ship and then some big org pays you to help them move to another planet, then that org will provide the defence for the convoy? The only thing i would say is that I wouldnt set 'building the biggest ship in the game' as your only goal. Make it your end goal but just focus on building a good logistics company which is earning the revenue to build the big ship. People will want to get off world asap when game launches, if you can get funding / support from several orgs to get reasonable sized transport ship together, I would have thought there will be work to do.
  20. I hope that pvp is less about the small scale personal bullshit you see in most survival games like Rust etc. I would like to see strong defensive options, so that once a reasonable sized org gets set up it would take an organised attack to breach their defenses. That way it is more about the team and if individuals within the org are logged off it doesnt really matter.
  21. This is a very different game to Archage though, this has the potential to be as near a true sandbox as you can get, AA wasnt really a sandbox at all. DU is FAR bigger, far more open world and flexible in terms of expansion, also in terms of goals. I would be very surprised if any of the big organisations plan to start a fight straight off the bat. I would foresee some sort of space race initially, with the main orgs trying to be first to colonise their planet of choice. Then you have the whole logistical element, if the main orgs are on separate planets, fighting becomes a much bigger undertaking. So this should create some breathing time for orgs to bed in. As long as the big organisations look at the bigger picture at the start, then i think DU has all the elements to be everything it wants to be. EDIT - one interesting solution to make sure that the early game has some time to get going - make it so all but basic weapons need resources not found on the starting planet.
  22. There are already organisations of nearly 1000 members, if you join one of them do you think they will just let people 'gank' you? Do you think that is why all these people are grouping together just to 'gank' each other? I am hoping people have far bigger fish to fry. This is not Ark or Rust, this isnt 48 players on a single map playing a server for a few months.
  23. The key thing is that defence has to be strong, so you need to commit a lot of resources to attacking bases, particularly established cities. That way people can choose to live within a certain amount of protection. If people want to go live on the outer rim, solo or in small group, then they are hoping they dont get found and they should play with that in mind.
  24. That is my point though, the level of community 'policing' will be relevant to location. If you want a peaceful life, side with a large peaceful org and live within their protection. If you want anarchy go live with the anarchists, and hopefully there will be lots of options in between.
