  1. There has never been an assurance or commitment of "no wipe" by NQ though.
  2. There is a wipe and then there is a wipe.. I would agree that resetting everything is not something NQ can ever get away with again. Once they started charging subscriptions that option really was removed and honestly it would not be needed. Personally, I do expect there to be an eventual wipe where NQ will reset the world, including removing constructs. You would have a blueprint for the constructs in your inventory and your accrued skill points would be returned to the points pool and not be lost. I'm pretty sure at the time NQ thought they had no choice but to start charging a sub while at the same time they knew full well the game was (and is) far from in a state where that is without its issues. The game really is still very much in Alpha and as we see now with Demeter, deep and impactful changes are being made. The "funny" part for me is that the way NQ talks about changes and how they implement hem really lines up perfectly with being in Alpha stage where stuff changes, gets taken out, will be unbalanced and generally not yet "come together". Their choice to go to "beta" with what really is an alpha stage development game was a mistake. Demeter is a good example of why the choices NQ made were not the right ones. Had they still been in closed Alpha, it would have been trivial for them to implement these changes combined with a full wipe even. What is happening now is bad on several fronts, not in the least the one where those who benefitted from gain from exploits can now start using those funds to grab any and all tiles they can and have infinite resources for as long as they play. Some players have enough funds to pay takes for years and years on many tiles and hardly notice. Big organisations can, based on what NQ said, grab and hold massive numbers of tiles through their members and not pay tax on any of them ever. DU is still very much in a phase where these things are planned and initially implemented, there is no balance and no cohesion yest. And that by itself really makes the "beta" label meaningless. once more there was a "we do not know yet, we have to see, we will refine after" in the vlog.. All that would be fine and expected during Alpha. For a game that is supposed to release next year sometime though, that is really not a good sign. So yes, expect a wipe is what I'd say/suggest. But expect a wipe where may need to start over while you do retain your constructs as blueprints and will retain your talent points. And those two alone would give you a massive leg up when that wipe happens against those who join at that time which is fair enough seeing how you did subscribe early.
  3. Overal thoughts.. "Not expected outcome" on PTS changes was funny. It just shows NQ does not know their own product or their community very well Geometry reset not main issue. Of course not, it is fairly minor and really roo small an action The argument to not allow respec of talents is silly, NQ is basically still in alpha and making big changes here which justifes a full respec. The argument that you do not want to allow a respec every patch is not valid here as this is a major patch with deep changes. Why is NQ saying the scans remain valid when they will not be as per this QA. Unlimited ore now? That ends the need for many to ever leave Alioth and will make big orgs and those with deep pockets thanks to exploits mass claim tiles from their existing infrastructure and availability of ships. Also, with T4/T5 ore now beiong nore sparse and on outerplanets, once big orgs grab them they have unlimited supply. This change pretty much undermines the core of DU from my POV The typical "you do not understand" dismissal of valid concerns about mining (locations). "once you understand it wil lbe easy" mean you do not actually listen to yoru communities concerns. Lovely how Pann pretty much describes alpha state game development (put something out htere and see how it works). NQ should really readjust their develolp;ment state an dbe honest about it. Wipe/no wipe should not be a matter of discussion for NQ, changes like coming now during development ask for a wipe and NQ should grow a pair and pull the trigger on a wipe. TAXES Of course taxes are a big issue. It's a sensible idea, badly designed. Again, NQ being seemingly surprised by this shows they really do not hink these things through on a level beyond their own bubble. Taxes "to avoid land grabbing" was funny, I laughed so hgard. It will actually drive it as people with a lot fo currency will do exactly that to secure their unlimited supply of ore. Which is the very reason why a full wipe is needed on such a massive shift in core game design. Aquisitioning static constructs on a tile once the ownershipo expires and is claimed by another player makes sense but there needs to be a longer period for which you can pay taxes. If people have to be absent for longer they need to be able to not have to get back to the game while they can't OR be able to assign others to pay the tax while retaining ownership. Allowing one tax free tile per player will allow big orgs to combine tile ownership of members and own massive swats of tiles at no cost. This needs to be addressed/balanced. PRICING: Frankly.. I called this one and do not see much of an issue with it. I do not expect it to make much of a difference now though, it woudl have if these prices were what NQ started with The spin on the price increase is hilarious "you can still pay $7/month but you need to pay for a year in advance". In other words, "please make a long term commitment to the game" The pricing uses insane exchange rates in some cases COST CUTTING The spin from Pann on the cost cutting by NQ is silly and shows a complete misunderstanding of the comments she refers to. It pretty much also exposes the massive disconnect there is between NQ and the community. NQ needs to stop making excuses and trying to spin their need to cut cost as a positive. Lastly; People saying a NQ staffer should "die in a fire" in any sort of way should result in an insta ban and it should not be laughed off during a Q&A. I've been berated and threatened by NQ staff with bans for far, far less. Pann should kow better with her background and experience than to put that out here and downplay it.
  4. Dynamic constructs are not tied to a tile like static, so there woud not be a change there
  5. No, refer a friend has no relevence to being a backer and only applies for any referrals after it went live, not recursively.
  6. It was $21/3months (so 7/month with a 3month minimum) to now $10 per month with a 1 month minimum. His math is fine, your title is wrong.
  7. Certainly and I understand the nuances that apply here. I only responded as the "there is no obligation" is simply not true, at best you can say that KickStarter themselves wash their hands in innocence in these matters. Personally, I have written off the pledge as a loss, I honestly doubt I will even be able to redeem the 4+ years of DAC I have and would not at all be surprised is NQ finds ways to apply DAC in game for other purposes to "bleed of" the massive amount of "free" gametime backers have. For all intents and purposes, backers are a pain in the butt, they have no value for NQ at this time and are only a group of potential players they will likely never see another cent off of, while what they paid has been long gone. No, they are just saying your apparent understanding of the position of NQ in this is wrong
  8. So, the new CEO made a post.. Well, actually the PR team prepared a post it seems .. So much for a change in how NQ regards and/or interacts with their community..
  9. That was the story, yes.. but you know how these things go.. Seeing how the game has been pretty much butchered for the sake of keeping it affordable, I can see his leaving also may have been at least in part because his dream fell apart.. Actually, you are wrong.. Even when you posted this some months ago. TL;DR; If you do not keep your promises you open yourself to (legal) action by your backers. It is true hoevwer that KS themselves would not get involved in this. We, as backers, can certainly hold NQ accountable if they do not deliver on what we were pitched during the KS campaign. Not that there is a chance in hell you'd get anything out of it but yes, it would be possible.
  10. I never have called it that and it seems you either did not read or did not understand my previous response at all.
  11. Andromeda is already built in game.. so are most ST ships actually
  12. NQ has made more that enough consessions to the "I no want pewpew" part of the playerbase and frankly, has yet to really address the issues surrounding PVP. DU is not a building and crafting game at it's core, it is a game where all of its pillars _should_ be equally represented. There is no single "central" pillar around which everything else is built. So while I will counter anyone claiming this is a PVP game, a the same time I will do the same when someone claims it's centric around another one of the game's pillars. Just becasue at present the remaining playerbase is largely focussed on building and design, that does not mean NQ can or should ignore everything else. In fact, without NQ addressing PVP, getting to the point where safezones can be lifted (except for the massive Alioth/Madis/Thades triangle which they for some reason commited to maintaining). This game is incomplete and IMO remain non functional without proper PVP incentives which include both the options to engage in pewpew and the options to avoid/counter then and/or minimize the risk of engagments being fatal to justify the risk vs the reward. In other words, NQ needs to start actually designing the game, bringing the separate mechanics together and do so before they even consider DU to be ready for "release". Right now i's all just loose sand.
  13. TL;DR of the above mentioned video.. The new CEO will feel right at home with Novaquark.. I just hope it wil lturn out better..
  14. How is anyone going to argue a point which really makes no sense in relation to OP? Personally, I'd agree that wear and tear would add to the game, having repair actions build up wear over time and eventually no longer being possible and requiring replacement woudl also be a good thing IMO. I also expect NQ never provided for any of this in the game core and so will not ba able to make that a functional part of the game.. This is probably at the core of most of the shortcomings in the game, not having a long term plan to begin with which would allow you to plan for future development early on.
  15. Many, many moons ago, NQ told us about this great tech allowing them to "dirty up" or apply wear to voxel material.. One of the many good ideas that never went anywhere and just disappeared from the discussion. By now, unless it can be done by adding a UI panel or minigame, it's not going to be something NQ can consider.
  16. Can you stop reminding NQ to not forget to make certain exceptions and let us enjoy the entertainment following from it please
  17. The game wil not be "finished" as in have the game elements that were discussed at Kickstarter to be part of the initial release for a long, long time, if ever ..
  18. That resposne makes absolutely no sense at all.. but whatever..
  19. Oh, I could absolutely see DAC being used as one opossible means to "pay tax" on a TU. "As long as you have DAC, your TU tax will be taken automatically every X weeks" or "By adding gametime using DAC, you will also gain a free TU tax month on your first claim"
  20. If NQ would start offering cosmetic items for cash only, like special voxel materials, skins and/or decorative items, I would not see any problem with that. Functional items though should always at least remain accessible and available in game. But that is for a different discussion once the first signs of such option start arriving.
  21. He does seem to keep up his "vision" of DU being "ready player one" and how he seems to want to try and say he invented the metaverse Facebook is now running with. All I see is JC still living in his bubble and out of touch with the real world.
  22. @sHuRuLuNi It would not be strange at all. His "leadership" pretty much drove NQ to the brink, he may have the vision but has shown to lack the ability to make it real and have a sense of what can be done as opposed to what he wanted to get done. IMO he is at the core of most of the problems NQ has been and is facing, inclucing their general policy on communication and I am pretty sure his "stepping down" was entirely non voluntary.
  23. JC is no longer with NQ, he left entirely according to an NQ staff member on Discord. His vision for the game failed and what NQ is making currently is but a shell of ahwt JC had in mind. Quite possibly what we have now is much more in line with what their technology allows, at leeast that can quite easily be understood with what NQ has said related to this in the last few video blogs.
  24. The question for me is, why does a game producer with a major studio choose to leeave after 15 years for a role which reallyy does not require much of the skillset he cleearly has with a struggling small indie studio. While it is pure speculative, but this smells like a deal to me where Ubisoft is actually taking ownership of NQ or they enter into a publishing deal of sorts. Now, I'm not saying that woudl be bad, in fact I think somthing like that may well be exactly what NQ needs to get whipped into shape and start perfoming as well as get some much needed financial support and an experienced resource to solve some of the many major issue the game has "under the hood". In such a case, the move makes much more sense as he becomes "the man at tha table" for Ubisoft. So while yes, pure guess work on my end, I would actually see that as a positive if it were true and kind of hope it is.
  25. Did not want to pull the "welcome the new CEO" off topic so I'm posting separate.. A new CEO is potentially good.. It may mean NQ found some money to pay what seems to be an established game producer as CEO. Nouredine Abboud is a game producer with some decent titles to his credit but nothing like Dual Universe which is a very different beast alltogether. Also, what makes him CEO material from being a producer. I gueess we'l lhave to wait and see. It's interesting for sure and could go either way, for now I gueess I'll be cautiously optimistic but if the core attitude and behavior of NQ (especially in regards to how they engage and communicate with their community) does not change, this will not make much difference. What I'd like to know is how this will fit in the plans, as he is from France/in Paris, does NQ plan to keep two expensive locations running? Then, what is hiding in plain sight is this; "As we reach the final stretch leading to the launch" Not sure but it would be interesting when the rest of the game will be brought in, before or after this "launch" And with the rest of the game, I meean (among other things and in no particular order): Territory warfare AvA, CvA and AvC combat Player Markets New solar systems Stargates pets I do not see how NQ will be able to hit a 2021 deadline for release so I guess that means they are shooting for Q1 2022.
