  1. I saw this post buried on Reddit today Perhaps more appropriately than "it's happening.gif"...
  2. So while most people have said they will play alone at the beginning, they believe that most other people will play in groups. Interesting, it seems that people are pessimistic about their own solo situations. The appearance is that most people are in groups, it could be that the exact opposite is true. My view is that we will see more organic group play situations unfold, where solo players naturally socialize and start to work together over time eventually becoming groups of their own. I imagine I'll meet people in the game along the way and make some friends that way. There will be plenty of opportunity to at least.
  3. I have a relevant video to share but I think it would probably break a rule somewhere haha. There is a difference, just watch "Cheech and Chong's Next Movie"
  4. I think that it would be prudent to enable 2FA across our Dual Universe profiles. Our game, forum and community site profiles are all one single sign-on, and considering the NDA under effect, I think it would be very useful to allow for 2FA for those of us who want it. We don't get notifications for when we login to our accounts from new locations, so there's not really an easy way for us to tell if someone has our creds and logs into our accounts. Please give us 2FA on the websites at least Invision Community even supports it as of January 2017 - https://invisioncommunity.com/news/product-updates/new-two-factor-authentication-r995/ To clarify: This isn't about forcing people to use 2FA, this is about enabling it so that those of us who want to can use it for extra security on our accounts. It's 2018 and the realities of security on the internet these days necessitate that we have the option.
  5. Everquest Project 1999 was my go-to free MMO, but arguably it's not for everyone considering the graphics and difficulty curve. No man's sky is getting a major multiplayer update next week. I've been eyeing Gran Skrea Online, it's $10 on steam right now with no subscription fee, I will probably be playing a lot of that this weekend.
  6. That's only because they determined it was an extremely small amount of people that even used the option:
  7. Since this is on the topic of DAC's, CCP (Eve Online) used to (and probably still does) allow players to redeem PLEX for conference tickets to Eve Fanfest in Iceland. You couldn't pay for a plane ticket with them, but you could redeem 6 of them for a pass instead of paying with money. If NQ ever does a Dual Universe Fanfest, I hope they also allow us to do something similar with DAC's. It was just interesting to see how you could pay for a convention with currency you earned while playing the game, a convention that was all for that specific game. It's a little nod towards the players who even have that much floating around in the game because those are the most dedicated people anyways. Arguably someone with that much money, DAC or PLEX, they've either played a ton of the game to earn that much, or they're buying them, in which case why would they be spending that much unless they were really into the game?
  8. I too would like a space station with a lake, or a ship with a pond or something along those lines. The mechanics around water haven't been fully discussed yet, we know that right now there are no "Water physics" (there are many interview questions around the topic), and it's a bit of a complicated problem to solve in a single shard universe. It's hard to scale that kind of stuff up properly without bringing incredible performance drops to the rest of the game (same reason we won't have an atmospheric ship pressure). Water, nevertheless, is an important thing for them to solve in the long run. Whether or not we get to carry water with us in our ships like that is a whole other question, but I hope that at the very least they solve the issues around water on planets.
  9. There are a lot of extended versions of the song on youtube and whatnot, but this song from the Annihilation soundtrack is my favorite "space song" at the moment
  10. If you have to ask, you probably shouldn't spend money on it right now. Just wait till Alpha opens up and the NDA drops and you can make a decision then.
  11. Yes, you can upgrade it. I have done it many times.
  12. Registrations are closing here soon. If you have pre-alpha access, but do not have access to the forum, contact me on discord so that I can help you get registered. Otherwise, good luck to everyone who entered!

When someone asks a question about an NDA topic
  14. Yes, not only can you fly to another planet, eventually you can fly to another solar system even. It will take a lot of time, but it will be doable.
  15. I forgot to update this thread with the coins when they arrived
  16. I actually have a copy of Roberts rules of order in the backseat of my car haha
  17. Name: Yamamushi Region/Timezone: All the time Language: English What type of Organization are you looking for? I am looking for an organization of people who want to help organize events and that will value what I have to bring to the table. Desired role(s) you wish to play in-game: Events organizer, project manager. I have started numerous projects in and out of DU. If you know who I am, then you know what I can do for you. Roleplay interest? Yes Other: As I've told others, I am not going to fill out your application to join your group. If you want me for my talents and for what I have to bring to the table, then you already know what I've done in DU and you presumably want to help those efforts. If that is roadblocked by me filling out a form to join your group, then you don't value me anyways and quite honestly I'd rather work alone than with people who are going to treat me like another cog in the machine. I already have a day job, I don't need a second one. I'm looking for a group that will work as hard as I do on things and has people that are excited to jump in and assist on projects. I'm not looking for org drama, I'm not looking for people that are going to micromanage me and tell me what to do. I want the freedom to keep working on these projects under someone's banner so that I can get help with them (DU Radio, The Contests I run, the giveaways I've had, the physical items I've had made, the list goes on). So it goes without saying that I am looking for an org with at least a handful of motivated people in it, and not solo orgs or people who don't have the time to work with me on anything. I don't have a lot of high hopes posting here, and more and more it seems like I'm just going to end up playing the game alone, but I figured someone out there might be interested in having me under their umbrella. Preferred contact method: Discord
  18. As of today, there are 1537 people in the community discord We are doing giveaways pretty regularly, and NQ pop their heads in from time to time and talk to people, which is a radical change from the last time this thread was updated haha. It definitely has picked up in activity and seeing all the new patron pack owners coming in to play the game and ask questions has been pretty awesome lately.
