    If anyone needs me for their group, I'll just be leaning on a tree waiting for someone to say, "Hey You! Get over here with us!"
    I don't really know what I'll do without one. I always need a group cause to work for.

    Do not change the way you give your feedback.

    We want honesty above all, even if the feedback seems harsh, as long as the tone is respectful for all involved people (and so far your feedback has always been totally ok regarding this). Some studios want to see only cheers, praises and positive feedback. We don't: we want to see all the feedback, the good and the bad. While having only the positive part usually has a positive effect on the dev team morale, it has also a very bad effect: The communication between players and devs become biased, some players who can raise legitimate concerns remain silent and this can lead the development in a wrong direction while it could have been avoided with honest, transparent communication going both ways (Devs to Players and Players to Devs).

    We can't promise we will always agree with your position (and if we don't, we will explain why), but we will always want to have the complete feedback, not just the part who make us happy. It's only with honest discussions that we can improve.

    So in short,
    Never hesitate to speak what's on your mind, as long as it's in a respectful way.
    And that goes for any community member

    Best Regards,
    Nyzaltar.

    Dual tweeted out a gif of a Mini Rocket Propulsor firing. Can't wait to attach one of these to a construct

    You nailed the "autobalancing" concept we are after
    In fact, it's not so different in real life: the biggest problem engineers currently have to send rockets in space is the balance between total weight of the rocket (fuel included) and the amount of fuel required to make the rocket take off, move in space, and land somewhere (landing back on Earth or landing on another planet). This is basically what limits human space exploration today (that and the time needed to reach another planet).

    Hello Cainon.

    I would imagine that in Dual, an army would be made by the players themselves. If you are a strategist and a leader, you could amass people underneath you to be in a militia. This militia could be absorbed by a larger community, or government with you heading up the military.

    It feels like Dual is going to rely heavily on the playerbase to build literal communities, but Dual also allows for small groups of players to achieve their own goals. It's really not too different from real life.

    I will most likely design build machines for a small camp that grows into a town that grows into a city that grows into a megalopolis that grows into a nation. Or build things for myself, sell them as a merchant/pirate

    as far as i remember we will have a single planet in the beginning where every player starts at, but the universe will be expanded continously

    While you might be able to create a complete automatized and scripted industry on a planet yourself ( if' u're filthy rich and can play 100h/day) normaly those things will depend on a group of several players to realize. As for ur own army, maybe it will be possible to create simple completely scripted drones which automatically attack players without certain permissions, so u probably could defend an industrial area by urself (again, with a vast amount of ressources)

    Hi Cainon and welcome to our forum.

    To answer your questions:

    1. I'm not sure to understand your question here. Each player will incarnate a PC (Player Character) in game. If you are talking about finding NPCs (Non Player Characters) on the planet you start. Well, not really (except maybe a few NPCs coming from the same spaceship you're aboard). See the beginner's experience as discovering and colonizing a new, fresh world. There will be no factions at the beginning, apart those players will create.

    2. Yes, we will have common and rare resources in game. Rare resources will enable players to make items that aren't possible without the specific resources, or making items that can be made in different ways, but with different levels of quality (using a rare resource making the item of higher quality). So yes, this will be an important incentive to have "territory control" in areas rich in resources.

    3. We might have NPCs involving ingame events on the long run. This is a possibility. But don't expect anything like that right from the beginning.

    4. Again, I'm not sure to understand what you're refering to: EvE is in Third Person View (not First Person) and you can't really "colonize" a planet, you can only install some predefined buildings for industrial purpose (that's probably why it's simply called "Planetary Interaction"). Those buildings can't be attacked either (only the custom office from which you get the resources). This type of gameplay is radically different of what we have in mind for Dual Universe: we aim for an immersive experience, where you are one of the people making each building, or, if you are at the head of a group of players, you can indeed manage a whole industrial process, coordinating other players. But you won't have implicit NPC armies of workers executing your orders. You will have the ability to make mechanical workers, but even that will be probably limited (we want to emphasize player cooperation. It's a very important component of the MMORPG genre, quite lost in the latest games of this category, in our opinion). And of course, as a natural evolution of this concept, we have in mind to develop elements for the planetary defense.

    I hope this answers to your questions

    Best Regards,
    Nyzaltar.

    Michaelc reacted to Kiklix in Lavatories
    When I make spaceships in other games I often make larger vessels that can cross the galaxy. This means work stations, quarters, mess hall/kitchens, lavatories (shower, toilet), ship systems, rec rooms, cargo hold, etc.

    I know there will be elements to help ships fly, land, etc but I wonder if will there be elements for "facilities"? I ask because although for me it is immersive, they offer nothing in game play outside of the immersion (well unless game play elements exist where our toons have to alleviate themselves occasionally). It makes sense that right now the core functions of the game should be focused vs fashion and flair so I would not expect this kind of stuff.

    Ultimately I am looking to make my constructs as immersive and realistic as I can.

    Ahh...I can see where the mini game being attached to the actual game can be more immersive. Kinda like the holo game in the millenium falcon. This would help make the build feel more immersive and alive which I am all for.

    Speaking of...I need to go make a new post on one of the most immersive elements needed in any game.

    Yes I imagine this game will keep is extremely busy lol, some of us will have Empires to build!   Although I still think a nice little interactive prop board or something to put in our ships or houses will be a nice addition, anything that will mean we can interact inside our builds as much as outside of them.

    Hmm that's very true, what Kiklix said. Encouraging social interaction through ship crews would likely be very effective. As for ship sizes, well, hello Star Destroyer.

    I just watched an unreal 4 demo...man, I cant wait to see how novaquark uses that engine.

    Anyway. It will be very interesting to see large player constructs where it takes multiple people to fly it properly. I am curious if larger ships will be able to fly/warp faster/farther than small ships. I never much cared for the idea of small one man vessels being able to traverse entire galaxies. It would make sense to me that a larger ship could store more energy/fuel and equip larger more powerful engines. I am just thinking of reasons why people should want to be part of a large ship to help facilitate community and those builds.

    I will personally try for millenium falcon/serenity sized ships when I can (when I have materials to make them and knowledge of in game building is up to speed) but I would really like to try a ship that is about 50% smaller than the NX-01 from Enterprise.

    Thanks for pointing all these typo/errors
    As we are planning a new version of the website, all the corrections will be implemented in this new version
    Thanks again for the help!

    @Silvligh:
    About procedurally generated flora, just to be 100% clear:
    It's the way flora is spread on a planet surface that is procedurally generated.
    The flora species aren't procedurally created (though we might think about that in a distant future, but it's not on the roadmap for the time being).
    I hope there wasn't any misunderstanding here.

    Hi everyone!

    @TheSlaxx:
    About the typing errors in the FAQ and Dev blog, could you point me where you found them?
    That would be really a huge help. I will correct this as soon as possible.
    Thanks in advance!

    @All:
    About the forest screenshot:
    As said in another thread, this is what we aim for as the graphics quality goal to reach, as it is technically possible.
    But keep in mind that we might have to lower a bit graphics to make the game playable, with a decent FPS, especially for VR.
    Voxel-made planets and landscape procedurally generated on a large scale (the forest example was procedurally generated on a small scale) are already two factors that impact significantly on the FPS. We might prioritize FPS over ultimate graphics. But that doesn't mean we drop the ball: we will do our best to have a smooth FPS experience and good graphics!

    @TheSlaxx & Vylqun:

    If we got a forest for now, it's just because this is one the basic biome you can encounter and easily reproduce (along with desert and polar biomes) as we already have examples on Earth. However, it is also planned to have more alien-like biomes

    Best Regards,
    Nyzaltar.

    immersive RP is good and nice, but it shouldn't impact basic game mechanics like camera control. I see no need to find an lore friendly explanation for being able to use 1st person and 3rd person views and especially none for a mandatory skillset if someone wants to use 3rd person.

    I can wait! The opening post sounds amazing. Can't wait to try out my nanoformer! I like the sound of the temperature differences on planets. I wonder if that means different heat sources will aid in keeping us warm. Really enjoying the fact there is a strong survival element to this. I wonder if, similar to Minecraft, night brings out more dangerous creatures.

    Might eventually have to get an occulus rift for this game.

    Hello, I began on the forums a ways back and I had my eye on the development of this game since the very beginning.

    I had seen the original website before the posting forum was opened there, I only happened to search for the game again to see if any progress had been made after those original posts had been done away with and everything moved over to these newer forums.

    I had a long pause recently where I haven't had much to say, but allot has been happening to me. A few months ago I signed on to a lease to own program for my own semi and that has been pretty cool.

    Unfortunately my dear Father passed away on 12/22/15 and I have been struggling to deal with that. I was close to him, and he had been warming up to my younger brother recently he left everyone on fairly good terms. Its too bad he ran out of time and couldn't divorce his second wife before his passing though I'm not sure if he had been serious about that or not, I never understood how he could love a gold digger. He was very proud of both his son's, a responsible man who always went to work and gave proper notice otherwise. He was wild in his younger days and caused much friction with his first wife my mother, though she held no grudge nor did he, he will be missed by those who truly loved him. Nobody expected his death, he was alone in the house, and had complained about some chest pain to his second wife took 2 aspirin and went to sleep, he died peacefully without struggle; may he rest in peace now.

    I am a gamer, though I've been losing faith in the gaming industry to produce anymore quality games, it seems projects are so big now the only things that can be financed are games with tons of DLC and garbage. There is a beacon of hope in gaming such as teams like Novaquark and probably other small development studios I am not aware of.

    I appreciate being called out for the early alpha testers, I will continue to represent the largest portion of gamers possible, while nullifying certain aspects that sound fun but actually harm games and make them unmemorable.

    I have drafted a few possible government forms that could be used in the game, but I have to accept that even though I am still young, I am not as free as some people and therfor am not going to be able to be a single dictator of a guild and strongman support from many people - such guilds are short lived anyways once the guild leader 'dies' and everyone splits up into other guilds.

    No, instead I'd like to suggest the creation of an Imperial Senate, and confederate many guilds towards the singular Imperial goals. be we good or bad, or an ambiguous and ambivalent force in the Dual Universe, universe, we would vie to expand conquer, exploit, train and recruit newbies and more.

    I may post some more on myself here if I think of something.
    I think I have private messages enabled, if you are politically inclined and want to talk a bit about guilds send me a message and we can always trade outside contact information if need be.
    Thanks for reading about me, spend all the time you can with your loved ones and try to be on good terms with them because you never know.

    Could be fun to have a chess or checkers board prop that we can place in our ships or other abodes, or just find them in Inns or other social hubs, then you can invite someone to play a game of chess or checkers.

    Or something more imaginative lol. A space monster combat or battleship board!
