  1. Xsolla has been their payment processor for quite some time. If the Xsolla involvement changed to the point it changed the DU EULA or TOS, under EU law NQ would have had to announce this separately as well as offer those that can't agree to the changes a refund. I trust NQ knows this and would have acted accordingly. So, nothing to see here.
  2. Xsolla is licensed to sell end user licenses for DU to consumers. Not sure what is wrong with that. It's not at all under the radar. Nothing to see here..
  3. Fair use is not a reason or excuse to validate using copyright material though. It is a defense in case the use is contested.
  4. I don't think you can upgrade a backer pack to a higher tier supporter pack. You can upgrade a supporter pack to a higher tier one.
  5. Just because DAC have a real world value you can't make the argument that what you sell in game has. Putting a $$ tag on in game items is just a thing that looks good on paper and in news articles.
  6. Signal Cartel is absolutely neutral. We do not take sides, we do not allow our members to align themselves with or join other orgs exactly because it would create at least the sense of bias.
  7. Have you seen the average org recruiting texts? Claiming land by force if needed, enforcing the will of the org leadership and 'those not with us are against us and will be subdued' There is very little intent to work together and build an actual society and civilisation for most of these. You also obviously either do not or choose to not understand what I am trying to get across.. It's fine and yes, I see no point in trying to make it more clear than I have.
  8. @Hades Sure, I get that. The point I am making is not that there should not be PVP, that NQ has not laid out their idea of where PVP can occur or how it will work (to an extent). The point is that I believe NQ has a different vision as to what place PVP has in the game. The game does not revolve around conflict, combat is a means available to resolve disputes which can't be resolved otherwise much like I see and hope wars in RL are. I get there are those who wish to see DU turn into a battlefield asap and intent to do what they can to make that happen. I feel those will basically destroy the vision NQ has for the game and frankly take away from it what may well be the differentiation DU can bring. From my perspective it is this what makes NQ decide where a mechanic can or should not be allowed to impact performance of the game overall. I could obviously be mistaken about this but I believe NQ has a more positive vision for NQ than 'I shoot you because I have a weapon and so because I can' There's already too many warmongering and too many organisations with only one purpose and one thought on how to grab and control as much territory they can get their hands on. And arranging mutual beneficial agreements and alliances are not part of that for them. And before anyone goes and rips the above out of context.. all of it is IMO and not anything I claim or know will happen. It's a shame I have to make sure this is clear but I guess it is what it is.
  9. @Hades What you are saying is not what the argument was about nor is it a point of disagreement.
  10. No they don't need to tell anyone at this point. We are both guessing as to how PVP will be implemented and/or evolve based on our preference. While I do not agree with your assumptions, I do not discard them and you should not discard anyone elses untill NQ delivers their implementation of PVP.
  11. The idea of PVP being a main driver in DU is in my opinion going against what NQ has communicated as their vision and direction for the game. The quote plastered across the post above only implies PVP being a possibility outside safezones. It has no bearing at all on the place, purpose or direction PVP will go. Some seem to think/expect/hope/pray it will be the pivot point of the game. Others see it as a tool in the array of options to settle disputes, preferably when all others are exhausted. None of these currently have any legitimate claim to be correct since we simply do not know. As such discarding one you do not expect as having no standing is presumptuous at best. But this is really besides the point of this thread. The point here is that in my opinion and from comments made by NQ I believe that their intention is to not implement any possible performance impacting mechanic unless it is crucial to the game. It's why there is no wheels, rotors, pistons and/or collision (damage) planned for now.
  12. The reasoning behind this has been well explained and as IMO PVP is not a main pillar for the game (it would not have been a stretch goal otherwise), which is being built around community and co-op. Combat and PVP have their purpose in the game and will be seen a lot, the impact on performance by any of the 'fallout' from PVP is potentially so high I think choosing to not apply it for now is correct.
  13. The bot traders are there to kickstart the economy once the game goes live. They will be removed. While I would agree PVE content would feed the rest of the game potentially as it does in EVE, whether the vision NQ has on this will be viable we will know once the game gets going. I certainly would be willing to see what happens. NQ has said they will not provide PVE content but not that that position is written in stone
  14. I'll challenge anyone to try and ram my base on the public server I run for SE and even if you find the base to begin with, there's a few 'surprises' on the way there
  15. You'll need more like a cup.. I'd 'speculate' a sizable plot of land to grow your own for a while..
  16. Actually, we do. NQ has been clear on what they want to have done for Alpha to start. They may or may not change their objectives on that sure but since we're not discussing alpha 1 start here, your argument is pretty much irrelevant.
  17. Another option not too expensive and close to DU would IMO be Space Engineers. The recent multiplayer patch is quite good and while not a MMO, there is certainly a lot of fun to be had with a group of 16-32 players on a server.
  18. To be honest, as you present yourself (nothing negative!) I do not think pre-alpha or even Alpha will be for you.
  19. IMO the best option to look at for a free MMORPG I'd say EVE online which is free to play as an 'alpha' which offer more than enough of a challenge to both enjoy yourself and work towards paying for a subscription in game if you choose to (you won't need to for months really). Use my referral link to get 250.000 skill points (and use them wisely!).. Frankly does not really benefit me that much but it's good for a new player to use! Watch streamers, ask questions and you'll be on your way.. https://www.eveonline.com/signup/?invc=86f67642-4a71-49fd-a3ab-b97448ae4315
  20. As an ETA for Alpha1 has not been announced yet and based on what normally would be a development cycle/process for this type of project, it would be reasonable to assume 24/7 server up time would not happen until (close to) Beta. So second half 2019 is hardly speculative, even with no actual knowledge of the existing state of development it's a decent guesstimate maybe even on the optimistic side.
  21. This suggestion certainly violates the EVE TOS and would be a bannable offence. I'd reckon NQ would not approve either but we'll have to wait and see what a mod says.
  22. However in this instance you are buying tickets for a play that is still being written with no rehearsals nor premiere date set yet. The information you seek is simply not there yet and you would not be in a position to directly question nor direct the creation of the play write just because you already bought your ticket (but will be invited to join rehearsals as a spectator because your did).
  23. It's not an opinion this time, I am stating a fact. I am a founding backer and have no stake in NQ beyond having fronted what I did because I believe this project will become a great and viable game that I will be able to enjoy for many years. In exchange I got about 4 years of playtime as well as the opportunity to gain access at a very early stage. i have no say in the direction the game is taken by the developer nor will I gain anything outside of the perks promised when I pulled my credit card. You are of the opinion that backers are investors/stakeholders which they are not, never have been and never will be. The investors are the ones who put €5M+ on the table, we as backers brought in a lot less and we do not own any part of NQ or DU, we have a license to use the client in order to access the servers and that is it. The answer to the OP question is that it's really not as easy as calling out a number. The cluster DU will run on is dynamic and may cost more or less depending on resources being activated or patched in. It is public knowledge what EVE runs on, it is not unreasonable to assume DU will require similar hardware so if anything you can check what that configuration will cost to rent/own/run/maintain (spoiler alert; it ain't cheap). And to top it off, the servers are only a relative small part of the running cost for NQ.
  24. Backers are not shareholders nor investors and we do not have any rights or entitlement to what you are saying.
  25. It would be sensible to assume tbe cluster is in the same physical space because of the performance requirements IMO
