So I'm 3 days new today. I had never heard about this game til it popped up on YouTube recommended when I was searching out Star Citizen.
Space you say? Build your own ships you say?  How could I say no?  SO I gave the 3 month subscription a shot.  Being a successful avatar in Second Life gave me the ability to drop some of that good fortune into Star Citizen. SO it only seems natural this would be a perfect fit for me... somewhere between the two.  I would say the game does remind me of the earliest days in Second Life, some of the same problems and some of the same hopes for something still to come.
Unfortunately, I came in the same day someone else was stepping down.  So who knows were I will be when my initial subscription ends..  I dont break easy so I doubt the learning curve will get me.  In SL, I owned (Rented Servers) 30+private islands and was a decent in-game script hack. Im hoping I can get my teeth into some scripting in Dual Universe soon too, I have a bunch of idea's, but I need to find the scripting limitations first ...........I have 87 days left in my subscription  You have 87 days to tolerate me

Welcome and enjoy. Currently the game is pretty fun (imo) if you like mining and building/scripting, but there is a lot more to come hopefully this year, such as territory warfare and asteroid mining.

If you need any help, there are a lot of good folks on Discord. See you in game :P

But you dont play DU, you play SC?  Judging by your social, you havent played DU in years. I just dont understand how anyone could spend less than £100 on something and then feel so entitled that they continue to slag the game off for years after they stop playing it.  Get over it dood, move on, leave us players who are trying to make the game work to deal with it.

You'd be surprised how many of the people commenting every single thread in this forum are not playing DU or have played less than 50 hours... I feel the actual people who login to play every day stay out/are not interested in all this BS going on here.

Transparent =/= consulting players in a round table meeting. It means being clear about direction which happens in their "Look Ahead" series. Like the level of detail or not, it's about as transparent as things need to be.

As far as community consultation is concerned, that's what this is for:

Completely agree with you. NQ are developing a type of game that has never been done before. Obviously it comes with a ton of risks and unknowns. While better communication and faster development would be great, it's quite normal to face delays or change certain features.

Let's hope NQ will have enough money and motivation for the next few years to push the game forward.

Yes, I know submitting suggestions is futile, and this may have been discussed already, but what do you think of having gravity guns in this game?

I think it would be cool. Should be pretty fun to mess with gravity and spacetime!

I suggest you to forward your idea here - https://upvote.dualuniverse.game/ , even though I don't think it will be something they can consider in the next few years ?

Ever since the last patch I've been stuck at login with ERROR 100. I uninstalled the game, re-installed fresh, still getting the error. Any ideas?

    - I've checked all network settings, disabled IPv6 as suggested, switched DNS to Google's DNS servers, created exceptions in Windows Firewall (even though it's not enabled). Nothing.

I had the same issue, however restarting my PC actually fixed it. I am not sure what is the case, however I suggest you raise a ticket to NQ immediately. They will ask you to submit some game and system data before they can make the check.

Probably it will take a while for them to give you a full solution but at least I got a pretty fast initial response.

Let me know if you find a solution, I also want to know what to do if it happens again.

And the 'toxicity' you see comes from having asked questions like those above, over and over again for years without ever getting reasonable answers.

And worse having to watch NQ do the same types of mistakes over and over again, despite being told beforehand what would happen.

I believe I made myself clear on what I consider toxic and to clarify, it's not asking questions about the state of the game.

At the end of the day, each of us in entitled to our own opinion, but playing victim in saying I am trying to shut you up or ignore some valid points that are raised is laughable.

  7. The game runs okay for me, at least to a degree that I am happy with. Sharing your feedback and opinion is one thing, spamming it to others is another. Everyone should be welcome to share their experience in a proper and constructive manner, positive or negative.

This game is not in a good state. It does not run well. It is not balanced. It is not feature complete by a long shot. The gameplay loop is tedious. The grind is atrocious and all there is. The building tools are frustrating. Do factory lines still break down with "Unknown Error"?

I don't think that anyone ever said the game is feature complete and in a good state, but this doesn't mean it's not fun to play for some people.

    1 hour ago, Mordgier said:

You can argue that plenty of people have fun with the game - but the counterpoint is that most people didn't - that's why most of them are gone.

There is nothing to argue about here, it's a fact. The game is fun for plenty of people and a lot of the players did leave. But the current state of the forums in my opinion is off-putting to anyone interested in the game. Maybe with a good reason for some people, but definitely not for all.

  8. 1 hour ago, Mordgier said:

If it's true, is it still toxic?

For you it might have low FPS, for someone else might run great. Some people might have an awesome time while playing, others might hate the game, the important thing is that everyone remains civil and not enforce their opinion on others. So to answer your question - Yes, for me this is the pinnacle of toxicity.

Voicing frustration about the way NQ is not delivering on their promises and ignores some very solid suggestions and ideas is not shit posting and frankly very valid feedback.

And most of the "non white knight" posts here fall into that category as I see it with many of the rest being those who seem to not understand that.

It's easy to classify people as 'white knight' if they have something positive to say about the game, likewise for 'shitposters' as I put it, if they have some criticism for the game, but at the same time, not calling out people who make comments in the line of 'This game sucks because I get 3 FPS' or 'There are 30 people left playing this game, you shouldn't play' is just hurting this community and the overall perception of this game for new players [IMO Of course].

While I 100% agree things could be better and NQ should be held accountable for their shortcomings, toxicity (in both spectrums) should not be tolerated in any community.

I think we all really enjoy this game and what it can bring us, but the current version of the game is lacking in content. Updates come with little to no warning, and feedback from the community is mostly ignored.

Honestly, it will be so sad if this game dies. There is really no other game like this at the moment, even though there are many many features to be developed, DU brings a lot of unique game-play. Frankly, just the effort from NQ to try something like this is commendable. Even with the current state of the game, I can't see myself to stop playing. If DU makes it 3-4 years into the future, I truly believe it will have a thriving community for many years.

    6 hours ago, FuriousPuppy said:

I don't think bombarding the devs with angry comments helps any, but it goes to show that the community isnt doing so well.

Yeah, unfortunately there are a lot of people in this forum who just love shit posting, rather than giving actual feedback.

  11. Maybe some people can share their own feedback but from what I've heard, the game does not run very well on AMD CPUs right now as single core performance + clock speed seems to matter more than the number of cores. I believe this is the biggest bottleneck in your system right now.

I have slower network speed and don't have any issues, even after 0.24, which is apparently causing high network load for some people.

Obviously it's not worth it to upgrade your PC for this game only. Depending on where you live it might be viable to use some cloud gaming service such as Shadow PC (I am not 100% sure if the game can run through Shadow PC at the moment though)

Unfortunately, these are all the suggestions I can give. It's important also to note that the game is being actively developed (for now) and performance should improve over time. I think it's worth it at least to have a character that has a lot of queued up talents for training, if you decide to play in the future.

    Hello,

after a couple of months of absence I have logged into the latest beta:

is the performance really this bad, lets say around Alioth / the Districts?

Where does  the underlying technology kick in to prevent exactly this - single shard und ramping up the server power, etc?

Hey, so there are good and not so good news.

Serverwise, NQ did make a lot of improvements in terms of scaling. You can expect way fewer 'Pending Operation' errors while mining/building, however PVP is still not as fluent as it could be, even though it shows some improvement since Beta started.

FPS performance around markets/crowded areas is still bad, especially if your machine is running something below Intel 10th gen i5/i7  CPU / lower than 16 GB of RAM. NQ did make some improvements to that, like making more landing areas, splitting the markets from the starting location, but there are a lot of abandoned constructs near the markets, which dramatically slows the performance. From what NQ shared, they are working on some solution to clear abandoned building/ships but we are yet to hear more details on that.

If you are struggling with FPS, there are a few guides on what you can do to improve your performance. You can check out some details here - https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=fgUJGceVPnk&ab_channel=ZenithGamingCompany

Personally, I am running an overclocked intel i9 9900k with 32GB of RAM and GTX 2080 and the game runs quite well for me, even around markets. If you haven't subscribed for Beta and are still considering, I suggest to list your PC specs in the forums to check if someone can give you their feedback on what performance you can expect.

Yup, just installed du for the lols again. After 20 min instead of the usual 30min, I could see all the constructs at the market. Not move tho, cause it lagged much. But at least it's pretty.....

Interesting to see you spam every single tread on the forums and not have DU installed ?. Sums up the 'vets trying to save the game' toxic spamming pretty well.

In very many of my previous posts I have described the view from the paying customers. Until recently, it was even the case that players could still play after their subscription had expired, which would make me a little suspicious even as a paying customer. Don't get me wrong, this is not about me at all. I'm reflecting this whole view from a customer. To put it mildly, I would feel like a fool if I had a 1-year subscription and the other person could only continue playing after a 1-month subscription.

Why have so many old players quit? Especially since they were backers / supporters who didn't even have to pay for the beta. At the latest when another developer studio takes your company as an example of how NOT to do it, I would rethink my strategy.

Seeing past your unqualified statements, I'll casually mention once without breaking the NDA that I've been in Alpha Team Vanguard (ATV) since 2017.

Maybe you should look up what ATV means again. We have jumped from the original ~600k euros that were funded to 20 million. There has been no lack of time and money in recent years. I would rather call it mismanagement.

The stories, in terms of actions, decisions, lack of communication and the points I have listed above all speak their own story.

I am only the messenger. I just make sure that all this is not forgotten. Even if people will hear it several times. You are free to ignore me at any time.  Just as customers and new players should be left to weigh up for themselves whether they should buy into Beta under these conditions or not. And I think it's only right not to do this with rose-coloured glasses.

And it is not helpful when people try to silence others.

I backed the game from the start, played in the majority of the Alpha tests, that's not the point. They did raise 20+ Million, however for a 50+ people studio, this won't last you long at all. If they had enough money, they would keep the game in Alpha, until there were more features developed and the server stability was better, but I digress. The whole point of my argument is that there is no benefit of ranting how the game is bad/dead, when it has been said many times before, this just breeds toxicity.

I said that everyone is free to speak their mind, it's just sad to see how the community has degraded over time.

Also, it's obvious that NQ want more people to keep playing the game, even if they don't have an active sub right now, since the player base is smaller than ever. It's a difficult situation to handle but I guess that's another topic.

  15. 6 minutes ago, SirJohn85 said:

I'm in favour of removing the like button and just dealing with the context that the players write. The criticism and displeasure will not change. One censors oneself in the moment that one does not see what popular opinions of others are, even if they have no weight. That only shows in the end that you are dissatisfied with what others think.

It's funny that in the alpha there was a great community that gave good and constructive criticism. But it's also the people from back then who (still!) give good and constructive criticism today.

NQ just decided over the years to take an ignorant attitude towards the community that is irresponsible and to manoeuvre the project with questionable decisions into a direction (no AvA, patch 0.23) that can no longer be approved. Also the fact that since the start of the beta no significant progress or features have been added makes me wonder.

I don't have to explain that there is no peace, joy and happiness afterwards. I have invested enough money and time in this project to have my mouth shut.

If the game's right for you: fine. It's not true for me when I look at the project after 4 years.

Yes mate, we've heard this story on a thousand different posts already. Most of us have invested a lot of time in this game, so what ? If you want this game to progress, spamming the same thing a million times will not change something, if the devs have enough money, the game will progress, simple as that. If you post shit on the forums and all new players see your crying, do you expect they will want to try the game out? I doubt it.

Of course, it's everyone choice to do whatever they want. If you feel satisfaction of posting unnecessary comments that don't bring any value, go ahead and keep turning potential new players away.

At the end of the day, our feedback would contribute only a small fraction for the game development. If NQ don't have money to make new features, all the best, most constructive feedback/ideas will not save them.

Seriously, if someone makes a critique, you need to stop spewing the same company talking points.
And stop dogpiling.  No wonder so many people quit the game and new user acquisition is so low.

I mean it, especially Mason just wow.  I've never seen a community so good at pushing buttons.  I'm usually pretty chill and friendly, but WOW any time someone mentions that they dislike the schematics system, and I say "Yeah I know, it's pretty terrible.  If it were up to me, there'd be the basic tiers available for the factories so you could at least have fun trying it out to see if you wanted to invest all your time in those talents," I get fllllaaaaamed hard!  And eventually, I broke.  I said some damn dirty things in chat (which I do not regret, you guys were all being scumbags) but I swear, it's A BETA!  You're SUPPOSED to talk about the things that you think don't work right!  This is NOT the final product!

I'd heard in videos and read in articles that this community had taken a weird turn for leg-humping, but wow experiencing first hand with the dogpiles and the absolute jack-assery that pushes people to just say "Eff you and your animal soul" was...well I'm out.  You think the changes are good for the economy, eh, because more contribution means more production?  Well, you bastards are about as bad for the economy as can be, because you're turning people off who want to play the game in any other way than you exactly do.

    Deuces, douches.

Honestly, this community was great in alpha, a lot of people with good and constructive criticism. After beta, it became too toxic, unfortunately due to 10 people spamming all the threads in the forums and crying about how DU sucks in their opinion and repeating the same thing over and over. Like you said, this is extremely bad for new players who are interested in the game.

All the people spamming the forums just get their dose of dopamine when someone likes their post/comment, since they don't have anything better to do in their life. It's saddening to see an awesome game fail due to the toxicity of a small number of nolifers, but at the end of the day, it is what it is. If you really support the game and want it to succeed, play it, bring some friends with you, have a nice time, don't spam the forums with unnecessary negativity, like 80% of the people here.

I will keep playing the game and pay my 2 subs every month to support the development as much as I can. At this point, this is all we can do if we want a good future for DU.

Also, to all the people crying in this forum how the game sucks, I feel sorry that you need to have some random dude agree with you on a forum to have meaning in your life.

polls are useless.    (especially this one.  what's with the choices?)

    how about a "yes"/"no"/"maybe".

    instead of a "hell yes"/"hell no"/ "no"

they will only show what the majority of people that voted want.

    but that's always skewed.

because it's one of the sides that makes the poll.  and spreads it around.

the people that don't agree with the poll are playing the game.  they are not in discord complaining like little kids.

so they won't see a poll and they won't vote.

To be honest the idea was not to make some in-depth analysis, rather to see the general feelings of a part of the player base. I think most of us are aware by now that the devs don't really take this kind of post seriously so it doesn't really matter anyway.

This is just some kind of madness. I really can't believe this is really happening. There is no PvE in the game, there is no way to earn a quantum other than mining, damn it. Mining, mining, mining. I hate mining. I just want to build factories and make stuff for myself. Not for sale, for my own use. As I said, I hate mining, but I'm ready to do it for myself needs. But in order to make money, to buy recipes? LOL never. I am leaving the game until this patch is removed from the server. The game is not playable for me now.

Even though I will keep playing, I kind of agree with you, the only way to make money now is to mine, if you are not a professional Builder or maybe scripter, there is no other way to make money
