  2. Can you provide a link or explain more in detail your answer please? I couldn't find any reference of LSL for LUA.
  3. So I was wondering. We will be able to script in LUA, which is pretty cool. But what if we were able to have databases as well to store and fetch data? Think about the world of programming it would open : statistics, history, logging, stock situation of a warehouse, forecast... basically all information-based services! It could be done with a database element that would whether : - Connect to a reserved database on NQ servers, one on each account to which you could assign rights (to allow organizations to use it) - Connect to an external database on the user's PC or on online. Thoughts?
  4. It would be easy for the devs to create a list of core elements and basic info. What we are discussing here is the relevance of these information : it won't be relevant in most cases. So why bother with them if they are subject to misinpretation? It will only trouble the buyers and they will soon be ignored by the community.
  5. We will see how they enforce that but it might be quite hard. Ask people in real life looking for backdoors in their softwares through automation : it is not an easy task. The ownership changes yes but if the code is rendered unreadable (script can't be opened or is replaced with nonsense for example) he can't do a thing. Indeed, that is the case if you take a standard ship and only change the script in it. But if you do your own ship or extensively modify a blueprint of a ship with your own additions then copy/pasting the script won't do a thing since you're script will only be applicable with your extensions.

  9. To complete @ATMLVE : Their will be different construction element sizes and the dev are thinking about letting us stick construction elements together to create a bigger size.
  10. I doubt they will be able to stop someone that want to implement a backdoor if the code is unreadable. As I understood JC in the interview he only said they wasn't a "blow up on spot" function but through unseemly means you could do the exactly the same (overtime or not). For example : They will be element that receive signals and react on reception so you would just have to script a suicide function that takes control of the ship direction and send it in the nearest sun or to a enemy base upon receiving a "go suicide :)" signal. You could also make the ship broadcast signals around itself upon entering a pirate-full zone: "I'm here : (x,y, z)" for all pirates to see Or make the ship use too much fuel by activating the shield or whatever consuming task randomly to deplete the ship and render it useless. Because with a good script your construct will be better and do more than with the default script. Furthermore a script will be very specific to the construct anyway so you won't be able to just copy-paste it unless you put it inside the exact same construct.
  11. Well if you ask for a list of all core elements inside a construct then it will make it easy to copy it. An even if it was listed, there is no way to know if the construct will do as you intend it to (like fly correctly or kill on detection) apart from testing it (in a virtual space like I said). For example with your own example : Power core 7mw : Is the power core even used, is it enough to make the construct do what is said it does? Thrust. 50mt : In what direction? for how long? Does it allow you to do horizontal or vertical movements? is it possible to hover? Fuel capacity 500m3 : In how much tanks? are they all accessible? are they all using the same fuel? is the fuel the tank use energy efficient? Storage capacity 400m3 : How is it distributed? is it one main chamber? is it multiple small rooms? is all the storage capacity accessible? what size of products can in handle? Overall mass. 10000000kg : How is it distributed? is all the weight in the front? is it all in the left side? is it all in the top? Can it even fly? These information would only be relevant if displayed while testing the product in the virtual space because they are only relevant in one situation at a given point in time.
  12. 1) Market units are buildable inside the arkship safe zone 2) Markets are physically based but the devs thought about introducing inter-connectable Information Unit in a later update that will connect to markets in a radius and allow remote access. The interconnection means it will work as relays and you may be able to connect markets from planet to planet if you place enough information units at a regular interval

I beg to differ organizations wishing to build a artistically coherent area around their headquarter (like mine) and not having grievers put a giant penis near your beautiful building will fight for that territory. And in the future, the bigger the territories you have in the safezone might reflect the power you have in the system. At least in a newcomer's eye.

The main issue with having LUA Scripts obfuscated or non readable is backdoors : What prevent me to create a kick-ass LUA script and adding a backdoor into it like to send your coordinate to me? Because the code is not readable, I will have a huge advantage over you you have no way to uncover (unless by spying)

  19. That is one of the main reason people wants to have auto-mining : to create replicating bots. But no one said it would have to be easy to do. There is several possible limitations that I already discussed in a thread on the question : https://board.dualthegame.com/index.php?/topic/1418-self-replicating-robots/?p=31347 Not necessarily and you do offer one solution in your comment : riskiness If a mining bot is less efficient than a player, cost a lot of resources and are easy to destroy (no armor) then it would be risky to create one and it would only be profitable if you hide or defend them well over time : that's a BIG limitation for the proliferation of said bots. On the other hand it could create a particular gameplay where you would hunt for them in order to destroy them or steal them, kind an emergent a treasure hunt. Having mining bots doesn't mean players won't be needed. You would have to refuel, repair, guide and defend them. You may want to hunt and target them to hinder the production of your enemy etc...

  21. Yes the only things we're missing are LUA automated mining tools. And that is the things the devs won't give us for the moment.

All members of the council, apart from the leaders, are elected by their peers for a mandate of 3 months. The Construction Division in charge of building the headquarter and any building necessary to the other Divisions. First objective is to secure and start building in the safe-zone a low quality version of the headquarter to host the bank, market place, research center, transport halls, casino and conference hall. The Security Division whose job is to protect the other Divisions during their activities. First objective is to make STARS famous by exploring outside the safe-zone, cooperating with the community, talking about us, train in fighting skills and address the griefs of the other Division. All members must choose up to three Divisions, they are free to work in any of these and must choose one to be primary for each month : the one they will spend the most time in. The Council will adapt monthly objectives according to the pool of members in each Division and the one they set as primary for the month. STARS strongly recommend to choose 3 Divisions and rotate between them because the skill system of Dual is set so that you won’t be able to be good at everything so favoring a few and becoming an expert in them seems better to us than favoring none and be average in everything. Favored trios for now The Fighter : Defense, Transport and Research Division The Merchant : Banking, Trading, Research Division The Builder : Construction, Defense, Research Division The Dealer : Entertainment, Transport, Research Division Yes we do value researchers, because all the blueprint we develop will be saved from alpha to beta to official release. However we don't force nor coerce anyone so you are free to do choose any other trios. NB: There may be basic skills needed for particular activities that we may favor in Alpha.
