  1. I live in Freeport operated by TTC on Teoma.  For folks in player built "cities", this is just soul crushing.  Do you know how much work and maintenance it takes to maintain these?  There are other "cities" spread throughout the system.  You don't want it to get abused, but maybe allow a super legate of these larger orgs more cores for city functions? You'd probably have to get a little creative on the rules for it, but you have all these tools and game architecture to build, then you just want to hinder creation?  I don't understand.

Greetings! We would like to read your feedback on our latest DEVBLOG: CONSTRUCTION SLOTS AND STACKED ELEMENTS.

There'd be no need to stack the wings like that are if the wings in the game were more powerful to lift. If you don't stack, how do you expect to get multi-ton cargo on L cores off the ground and to fly then?

Increase the power of wings in the game and you can solve this.

    I don’t think a

player who has spent months or years gathering supplies should lose everything because they stop playing for a bit it should be packed up and put in a special inventory they can be reclaimed when they start playing again as far as salivate it sounds like a good idea but if I’m required two fly all over looking

i think fuel consumption needs two be reduced fuel use is Riley bad in this game in my opinion

Quick question - did you train up the skills to reduce fuel consumption in the Piloting tree?

I'm not getting why some ppl think the MUs are responsible for the low ore prices... My MUs don't generate that much ore... But mining asteroids does. And the drop in prices af the weekends shows that too. IMO it's having asteroids spawn only in weekends that causes everybody to rush out and mine them all (safe zone), and then flood the market. Spreading out the roids over the week would remove this "gold rush" and flooding every weekend.

THIS.  So much wisdom in this reply.

In my opinion, T1 isn't even needed to spawn in asteroids at this point in time.  We may reach a point (unless a ore reset is done...) where asteroids will be the only way to get T1 due to the planets being milked, but until that time (probably a long way off), asteroids should only spawn T2 - T5.

My personal journey with the MU's is that I'm overflowing with T1 ore.  If you find the "magic 7" of 300L+, and plant them with MU's, you'll be swimming in ore, forcing to sell to bots.  I haven't mined too much T2 & T3 (because of lack of finding good tiles on my planet), so the dropoff from T1 to those is pretty significant.

    Hi,

i write this because i believe in constructive criticism.

DU was my big hope in terms of an MMO. I loved the integrated Systems and thought it would go into the right direction.

I payed even if i stopped playing for some months, because i believed that will be the new kind of MMO.

But now i want to discribe my Gameplay in DU as a Casual Gamer with an 9 to 5 job:

Any Production - gone, its to expensive and cheaper to buy stuff from big corps

Mining - I do mining to pay my taxes. I need to mine low Tier Ore , because in not secured space my ship will be destroyed and robbed.

Calibrating - it forces me to calibrate my MU for what reason? Game Economy? nope there are no costs. so only to steal my time and generate Server load.

Asteroid Mining for a Casual Gamer ? No clue .. didnt try it yet, if it takes hours then possible not a casual gamestyle.

Traveling - need to fly without warp, because it would be to expensive and i need to farm more for my taxes, so 4hours for a trip in one direction ...

Nice gameplay .. perhaps a mini game like calibration for that flight to prevent afk flying? that would be nice. thats value play time ....

    My Conclusion :

I do Mining, Calibration and flying around to pay my taxes and stuff. around 80% of my playtime.

i have some fun to build a ship but thats only a small part of my playtime because my time is limited. and if i had to work 80 % of that time for my taxes, there isnt much left.

If DU will stay on that course, there will be a hand full of big corps and some pirates. nothing for new players to stay for.

and for what will the playerbase stay in the game? Story , discoveries and stuff ? Nope...

The Game seams to get the playstile of be a wheel in a big corp. Do what is nessessary for the Corp to get the benefits.

thats like real life work in a game ...

i lost my ship with ore for my taxes today , that was the drop of water that makes the vase overflow.

    bye

    Chorum

Chorum, when I started, I had one of the hardest learning curves I've ever experienced in any game. I hear you man.

If you ever do come back, PM me and we'll move you out to our player corp where you'll be supported and have people to answer your questions and help out.  This game is augmented when you have people to help.

  6. A few points -

On the vertex tool - I hope that it will allow us to make our dynamic contructs less "boxy", meaning we can create more circular shapes in base designs.  Not saying it's impossible now, but it requires some voxelmancy.   I'm talking large circular shapes that are M and L core friendly as well.

There is some quiet brilliance to the MU's, but my personal experience is that it's difficult to maintain modest amounts of them with the points recovering as slow as they do.  I don't even sell most of my ore, I use it in industry.  (I do have points into recovery time but they aren't maxed).  I hope you guys at least visit that part of it.

Love the idea of space wrecks.  More content is a positive, so look forward to that.

I would like to see MORE asteroids! More in pvp space.

I do appreciate you needing to look at the metrics before making future decisions.  We are in beta!

Decoys, ECM to break lock, Radar jamming and Stealth are just a few options. I would not be a fan of  Cloaking in game. At the same time, withthese options I woudl expect NQ to bring in Warp interdiction as well. My fear here is that NQ doe snot have the ability to do all this without  some major work on the game code.

I'm a huge fan of other measures to break lock and / or defensive measures in general.  ECM makes the most sense, and I hope they implement it.  Make it a skilled trait, for effectiveness.    I agree that think warp interdiction is the way to go to break warp.

  8. If you're a part time player, who doesn't have a lot of time to play and just wants to putz around and build ships and maybe have a few honeycomb industry machines, and some refiners, etc...this update is absolutely crippling.  If the mission system was better, maybe not so much, but the missions kind of stink (sorry).

I support a tiered TU system, where you pay based off what type of elements you put down (mining demanding the most).  Perhaps one HQ that demands no taxes and caters to the creative types with a modest amount of industry elements on them.  I haven't heard one person remark how they're not negatively affected by the 1mil per TU fee.  Please NQ, this is not a good idea.  The economy isn't as good as you think it is.  I think some people have figured out a way to make tons of alts and multi-box to make missions profitable, but it's not the majority, I guarantee you that.

Another thing - the PvP play is stacked so ungodly in pirates favor it's ridiculous.  Other than shielding, there are no defenses.  I understand they deserve their game play style, but the way the asteroid mining architecture was built, it's a slaughter.  "Safe space" mining only provides a few ore types and the market is getting flooded.

This game is so close to being the most special thing out there.  Please, please listen to your community.

  9. So many good conversations here. So much great feedback, a lot from the heart.  I just want to chip in and say that I feel with the current economy I don't think 1 million per non HQ TU is feasible.  Reason? This is a game where creators are drawn to. Creating types want to do that, and not have to be forced into mining to make their cash.  They also will usually take up multiple tiles.  I say have a different taxation rate if there are mining unit(s) on it.  A million is not insurmountable to make by any means, but there are weeks you definitely don't make that from purely sales because very few are buying!  It's just reality.  Larger orgs will source from in-house industrialists. There is too much "stuff" on the markets, and not enough demand.   Bring it back down a bit. Allow one TU where you can run industry units without being taxed, or at a MUCH lower rate.  Where the amazing creators (so many out there) can be free to create.

One quick point about mining units.  I've only been running them for a week now, but there's no comparison to what I could pull out mining before this update. I'm all for mining units, don't get me wrong, finding the deeper ores was a pain, but the ratio of T3 & T4 ore is way worse than it was before.  This is probably to force asteroid mining, but then why even have T3 - T5 on planets at all?

you guys do know that when warping to a planet outside of safe zone you dont warp into atmo so you can still be shot down by pirates thats exactly what they do. follow warp points and wait for people to exit. what movie or game do you know that allows you to pvp or be shot down while in warp thats one of the points of warp.

This.  There's going to be so much ganking when they release the next version of PvP.  It will cause players to travel together more imo.  Solo mining will be a thing of the past.

  11. My experience is the same.  About 50 scans on Ion, I found one very small node of Cryolite, and there are numerous nodes of T5 Rhodonite, all in the 7k to 40k range.  I didn't stumble upon a monster like the OP :-).  This is a part of the game that really bothers me - when you want to actually go mine the T3 - T5, it's a crap shoot.  It's already mid Beta and a lot of ore has been burned through, or is so sparse it's not sustainable for a growing community. Kind of disconcerting and I hope they address it.

Not AI base defenses. Those will never work against anyone attacking you anyway.  EvE's system is tried and true, and as about fair as you can get in a video game where you cant be online 24/7.  Give some special defenses (player used) that arent on ships...sure.  But also timers.  Thats the biggest factor.  Someone attacks your base, setting up a timer, giving you 2-4 days to decide how to defend, or evacuate.  It's as fair as it will ever get. Period.

That's fine.  At least it's something...

Territory warfare is territory warfare, if you're a solo player with 1 hex on some random planet that's your own fault. The point of Du being a civilisation builder was that people build up together and create their own safezones as countries, form alliances etc. But none of that happens or is needed with DU being half the game it is + the almost infinite safezones.

I just hope they add some additional base defense weapons as a part of it (territory warfare).

Do you have the expectation to be able to learn and master every possible career opportunity there is in real life?

You're not supposed to train all skills to 5 .. It's amazing to me how ppl still do not get that..

It's also quite amazing to see long time backers, ATV members no less pretending they never knew until the talent system was implemented.. It's not like we have not known .. oh, since kickstarter that talent training would be passive and time basis

I was making a general comment.  I don't expect anything...

I am also completely against this skill system. I have talked in detail about this in my Video Review of DU - but the point is: it shouldn't be possible for you to be jack of all trades and master of all. And everyone in the game will eventually get there - because you keep getting talent points by doing absolutely nothing. You should specialize, i.e. get skill points for things you actually do more. This in turn should be connected to various unlocks.

    Agreed.

I think someone calculated it out to master all the skills to 5, it's like 27 years?  And they'll definitely be adding / tweaking more in the future.  I'm not a fan of buying your skill points though - hope they never implement that.

There is no way hauling missions can be warpable, that would kill the whole point of it, no risk yet high reward, that doesn't seem fair does it? Us pirates would like to have a piece of the cake you know. If hauling missions are warpable, people will just warp, go next mission, warp, rinse and repeat and all the sudden you're now rich, for pressing like 2 buttons, there's gotta be some risk, otherwise we'll just have the whole playerbase warping across the system all day doing nothing else and for real, there is nothing fun with that. Make it fun, make it fair.

I get what you're saying, but "slow boating" 2 to 4 hours from point A, to point B, knowing you're probably going to get creamed is not going to encourage missions.  This game should not be stacked in the PvP'ers favor, it should be a level playing field.
