Thank you for further insight. Waking up to see a dev reply to a post about an issue that people are wondering about and have no context to was one of the most refreshing things to see on the forums... I had also wondered why it was broken.

I hope the team gets plenty of R&R over the holiday and can come back refreshed to tackle stuff for 2022!

    I could agree more.

Being right or wrong is completely a matter of opinion and everyone is entitled too one.

This also includes the general opinions held by NQ and these opinions just like everyone else’s are fluid. The whole point of feedback and discussions is to share your personal opinions and reasons behind them. If the feedback from players change NQ’s opinion on a topic then NQ always holds the right to make changes to their game as they see fit, plain and simple. Will there be choices I disagree with NQ passionately? Of course there will be!

We already share the opinion that NQ should of been more carful with their wording in relation to Scan data.

Right or wrong is measurable, as is everything. DU is bleeding players. Worse, they are bleeding long-time, dedicated, and influential players.

NQ clearly has no plan and have gone silent. There is no excuse.

I know, but we aren't getting MORE are we?  Thats my point.  With what was put in with beta, and the past 15 months have showed that all they are doing is losing money as a company making this single shard, and not utilizing it by using that to create unique gameplay you cant get with space engineers.  Every big battle was a lag fest that cant be disputed.  And those seem to not even happen anymore.  There is no territory to defend.

NQ is losing players (and money) because they have managed to make the gameplay experience worse over time and demonstrated little more than contempt toward players.

NQ build the foundation of a game for which a great number of people want to play.

People talk a lot about balance, but balance isn't really the most important thing. Games can be highly engaging while being rather unbalanced. Balance is an obvious thing to talk about, but what would DU look like if it were perfectly balanced...?

It might be better, but not by that much. With the features it has, it being unbalanced is hardly the biggest concern. I'm not saying it's unimportant....but if you imagine DU today being perfectly balanced....it still will lack gameplay depth and will still have core design issues that will be difficult to solve.

The beauty of DU is that there are no classes and so no real balance. There is no RNG. It is just math.

The closes anyone gets to RNG is the path one might take when scanning tiles and that is just individual luck and effort (how many tiles do you scan).

Should 100% be a wipe on release (or sooner, all these new mechanics would be much better with a clean slate).

Sure some will be annoyed they lost stuff, but if they like actually playing the game thats not the end of the world cause its a chance to play it again... existing players have a massive advantage on already knowing the game and will have a significant head start, so the elite will easily be elite again, probably more so.

The ones who would get really salty are probably the same ones who complain they are so end game they dont have anything challenging to do anymore.

Completely disagree for a number of reasons, primarily based on the fact people are paying a monthly fee.

Second reason being it makes no sense to reverse tile abandonment for solo-owned tiles. Why keep those around if there is an impending wipe.

Your rationalization of getting to play through again is just mental gymnastics. DU is a sandbox MMO. People play these games at their own pace in their own way. There is no playing through experience. It is building up and establishing your foothold in your own way.

It is always sad to see these posts. While things have drastically improved, it is true that the development process can be very hard for players. In the very early days I saw many get frustrated by bugs and leave. The ones who stayed, the ones who put up with those hardships, those dark days, did so because they saw the sun on the horizon. We are now reaching the end of the current roadmap and it has once again become harder to see the future (even for the devs). Many will get frustrated precisely because they don’t know what comes next, they don’t understand why some changes are being made, or when to expect their desired feature. That fear of the unknown is real but help is coming.

The decision is yours, but if you can, I encourage you to hang in there a little longer. If not, then I thank you for everything you have done for this community and wish you all the best.

You missed the point. It’s about trust. It is not about the lack of current roadmap. It is about NQ saying and doing something, then changing their minds with no notification.

Mega is right that current actions border on deceit or stupidity. Take your pick, both are damning.

Losing players like Mega is a telling loss and I hope NQ pays attention. Their communication is shit. Their wishy washy stance on everything is shit.

I love DU and want it to succeed. I think NQ treats loyal players like shit and this is what kills games.

So now any hopes have scavenging (more like purchasing and crossing fingers) is pretty much gone? I was hoping to claim my neighbors two tiles so I could expand, as they haven't play since February or so, but now those tiles are most likely going to be HQ'd; so I can no longer claim them.

    Fantastic work again, NQ.

    This is the real disappointment.

Worded very well and pretty much in line with whay i'd expect to be the case, including this really not being much of an issue

Again true, it's somewhat interesting that this was not considered ahead of time, especially since NQ ran into bumps like this several times in the past year allready.

NQ has human’s working for them, therefor they are imperfect and don’t think of everything. It’s simple.

  9. What Org balance? What Org(s) is/are running the show, impacting others? The answer is none.

In what way do new players not stand a chance? Stand a chance at what? Winning DU?

How do large orgs hinder new players? From what I see, they ENABLE new and existing players.

I also think taxes will cause a soft wipe where a lot of inactive tiles will free up and structures torn down.

At this point, how would wiping improve the state of UD or make it better for launch? I mean people with means actually offset the shitty noob experience.

  10. You missed tedious. I am personally enjoying working on my space station. I have the resource I need so I am content.

I do a couple asteroids on the weekend when they all magically appear weekly. I partially enjoy this because I like flying my Roider around. I also enjoyed mining so I find it relaxing in moderation.

I did some scanning but don’t enjoy that much. I will resume when I get the next couple stages done on my station. That said, I don’t enjoy the MU tedium. It is the kind of daily in-game chores I really dislike. I hope NQ revisits this mini-game shit.

The more things players must micro-manage the worse off.

    @Sevian is right tho.

They would never give their own game bad press since it would live in infamy in MMO history if the devs played their own game and hated what it turned into. imagine the meme's, gif, and clips lol. Though it should be done regardless since NQ is so out of touch with this game it is astounding.

They don’t have to give their game bad press. They can play the noob experience for first hand experience. They can then go behind closed doors and complain like everyone else.

I think this is critical because the noob experience is everyone’s first impression, which can make or brake games.

The problem is that NQ has changed the game in such a way that you are basically forced to bring out the calculator or a spreadsheet to see how much you need to make to pay your taxes and see what's left after tthat to do anything else.

And so far, it seems most will just need to go back and make more money to get ready for the next tax bill.

I agree with this. I think taxes introduced an ongoing cost regardless of income. In a way, it is an extremely regressive flat tax.

Mining also more tedious and something for which everyone must do to either earn quanta or build.

For example: A pure builder previously could go mine some bauxite or whatever material they needed, when they needed, as much as they needed and get back to building the next day. Now mining is an infrastructure effort where miners must mine enough to cover taxes plus materials. It also takes longer to get what you need.

Net: getting resources is something for which requires planning, quanta, and time from people who typically enjoy spending their time elsewhere.

We are also coming down from an extremely high inflationary point where people made massive amounts of quanta to a place of low margin yield for most people. Some are still hitting it rich, but not the masses.

I like the idea of auto miners but I am not a fan from the tedium required.

I think NQ needs to spend a week where the whole team starts the game as new players and stream it so we can see their reactions to how bad their own game is since they obviously dont really play it or if they do they started when it was a lot easier than it is now and need a reality check.

    This is a great idea.

Same issue with territory tax. Reward frequent players, but at the same time don't punish casual players. That will just make them leave.

My point is you can get the base rate doing nothing and for those motivated to do the drudgery of calibration can earn greater profits.

There needs to be some sort of compromise. The current system feels more tedious that mega mining. Taxes are not going away. Neither are MUs. So, how can NQ improve the gameplay as opposed to just hanging the structure of the gameplay. What levers can be pulled and pushed to refine what’s in place.

edit: re-read what you posted and I think we are in agreement. :)

  15. I like the introduction of MU’s. The problem is that the maintenance process introduced is tedious, repetitive, and uninteresting (not fun). It also requires daily logins.

I saw a week suggested. Maybe that is too long. I would like to see a review for how this process could be improved. The easy one is extending the calibration time. Maybe other people have better ideas.
