  1. They cannot afford to give paying players all that time back. Once the game goes live. they are going to have to give all that DAX out. And how much of that is there? I think they pledged something like over 10,000,000 dax during kickstarter? And then if they go and give all the players that subed there 2 years back for the next 2 years. Its going to be 2 years before the game even starts to bring back income. Can the game survive 2 years with no income?

  2. Why would you keep BP's?  Many old BP's break game mechanics. And it gives an unfair advantage to those that deal in BP's.  IE a player who only designs ships and sell those designs. would be ahead of a player would only mines.

Also regarding the slow start on a wipe. It was originally intended that it would take a month before players had the skills and assets to even leave allioth. So they would at least get that now.

  3. Stop worrying about what other people have and start worrying more about what you can have.    It sounds like golem saying,"They have more then me, take their stuff away".

Remember this is Beta, and we all signed up for this. Signed up knowing there will be a partial or full wipe, and this has never been hidden by NQ

But now is tending more toward full wipe, because game economy has become far more broken beyond possible rebalance

Not true. When they released in beta it was said there would be no more wipes.  Why would anyone pay a monthly sub to beta test a wipe?  If they want to wipe all beta accounts. Sure fine. But pay accounts. Unless they are refunding, no.

Speaking of which if they do wipe. I dont think I will return. I mean maybe if on release. the game runs great, there is AVA, territory warfare, PVE, Power systems,  all the things DU is supposed to be.  But we know that is not going to be the case.  So playing after a wipe would be like playing now. only the promise of the game being good in the future. Except after a wipe you no longer have anything invested into the game, So walking away then no harm done.

  4. I never played the alpha because I had no interest in playing a game that was going to wipe.  But when the beta was opened up and I had to pay a subscription to play the game I was told they are no longer going to wipe the game. And I was ok with paying for the game.  But after watching last weeks vlog when you guys wishy washy over a full wipe.  Well it gets me nervous about playing the game.

Basically I have no interest in paying to beta test your game. Dont get me wrong. I am ok with paying to play the game during beta. And I have summited bug reports and made suggestions. But if your doing a full wipe. thats not what I signed up for. Just send me a refund now. Maybe I will resub after you guys release fully.  Although chances are I will jsut walk away.

Wipe em.. coming from a solo.

Wiping them and not wiping them would not affect you one bit.  Your only going to be grabbing the couple territories around your base anyways.  Not like your going to be trapsing to other to the other side the of the planet/planets everyday so you can restart your autominers at the right times.

That megacorp that has 10,000 scans.  Even if they only spend 3.5 seconds looking at each scan. Its going to take them 10 hours before they finish looking at all their scans. Giving you plenty of time to look at the territories around your base.

So when you say wipe them. Its not to make the game better. Its not to make it easier for yourself. Its to screw the other guy over.

  6. PVE wise nothing has changed since you last played.  Mining is about to change. you no longer dig for ore on planets. You have to play a mini game and get limited amounts of ore.  Ohh and asteroids have come into the game which you have to scan down and can dig on.  Granted they are just as much of a pvp bait spot as they are a PVE spot.  Missions might be new. But all they are is go here pick up cargo fly there drop off cargo.

Yeah I wouldn't mind being able to access indy machines etc in VR, it just doesn't make sense that we can't use machinery or mine in VR but can still pick up and drop off packages in VR.

We should also be able to VR our ships, because that would be handy too.  infact just VR our ore. even buildings.  No reason to travel those dangerous PVP area's.  /end sarcasm.

I'll be loosing thousands of hours of scanning. I've spent more than most in this game. It needed to happen, while I have a lot I know of others that have damn near entire planets of scan results.  Literally giving me, and others a monopoly on the market.

That all being said, myself and others will go back out and scan 18+ tiles at a time and will be fine.

I think its going to be worse then if they left the scan. Game is going to loose a bunch of players over this patch.  While you will get some people scanning out tiles. I think they are generally just going to scan out around themselves, get discouraged by the low results and do other things. You will get a couple people like yourself that are trying to go out and find the couple T5's.

However what I am more concerned with. They where wishy washy on this said scans are staying . pulled back and said they are leaving.  You know what else they have been wishy washy on. A wipe on release. And if that is the case, I have no interest in paying to beta test this game.

  9. First you get rid of my lazy day planet side mining. Ok, well asteroid mining has been good for higher tiers and auto mining should be good for lower tiers.

Secondly you destroy my bunker base that I spend hundreds of hours digging. and placing dirt.  I should be really upset over this. But hey I will give a little, It was a change that had to happen to make the game better.

Third,  I figure hey I will get a full skill respec atleast.  (I skilled up to mine and make voxels, Both professions have been nerfed so badly, I could do better in other fields of the game). But then you guys say nope. only giving you a couple token skills back.

Fourth. I spent allot of work scanning down tiles.  Thousands of tiles.  It takes 15 minutes to run each scan (well can run 3 scans at a time).  And thats not 15 minutes of doing thins. Its 3 minutes of doing things, and then 15 minutes of nothing.  Its not hey go work on your ship or your base, its 15 minutes of nothing. There where many nights of it being so fricken boring. But I went on. knowing the knowledge I gained from scaning would help me long into the future.  And while you might say, well you already used those scans. yes, I mined out the mega nodes. However a year ago when I started playing I knew meganodes would run out. Everbody said ohh no there is so much ore out there it wont run out. So for me those scans where not just for the mega nodes. they where also for less than mega, but high yield tiles.

Your msg of go mine out those scans, well thats just not valid. Well unless your going to wait a year or two before demetri comes out. Because its going to take me that long to mine out those territories.  If you have to get rid of them. Why not compensate me for them.  I figure 10,000,000 an hour is about right. With about 9 scans per hour.  So NQ, buy out old scans for 1,000,000 Quanta.  Or buy out scans for game time. Every 50 scans would equal 1 game day.

This update was supposed to be a super great update. It was going to be the one that brought players back to the game. Its the one I have been looking forward to for the last 6 months. But now that its hear, it seems like everything about it is just shitting on me.

  10. I think we all can agree that this is an issue. Even the guys raking in 1 bill a day.  However gotta find a solution that does not hurt friends running missions together.  Obviously removing VR from missions would be a start.  But that wont solve the problem. Limiting it to one parcel per ship would hurt friends from playing together.

I think a solution that would work is the mission runners need to perform actions during the mission.  And there is two options for this. One is to have the mission runner need to make multiple stops. Either picking up at multiple locations or dropping off at multiple locations, or a combination of them.  And the second option would be to require players to perform actions on the cargo.  For instance the parcel container needs to fuel put into it. And it only holds 30 min, or an hours worth of fuel.  and only the mission taker could add fuel to his own parcel container.

  11. The game is not collecting taxes to pay for a service.  IE NQ is not collecting taxes to build a roadway back to sole. The money is not needed, and is sent to oblivion when collected.

So why does the game even have taxes? Clear out abandoned territories, Money sink, Prevent single entities from buying to much territory,  Keep players active in the game by needing to do things.

The downside to taxes is people need to do things they dont want to (IE an artist might have to become a merchant, or mission runner to earn enough to pay for their territory). And it removes content from the game (remember DU is about player made content).

A tax as low as 1 quanta a week solves the clear out abandoned territories, and keeps players active in the game by needing to do things.  Because taxes have a downside with them, Money sinks can be inserted in other aspects of the game.  That leaves the only reason to have any meaningful amount in taxes to prevent people from buying to much territory, And thats what the tax amount should be based on. Granted I think owning to much territory should be controlled by PVP, not just taxes.

  12. When you run out of fuel on a ship in space and write it off as a lost ship and force respawn back then abandon the core.  When you destroy a ship in PVP salvage what you want (or nothing) and leave the remaining wreck in space. Basically any (unpowered) ship that is lost out in space.

Once a week have these ships sucked up and placed just outside the event horizon of  a black hole.  And over the next week those ships are sucked into the black hole.  However players can go to this location and salvage this wreck. However if they get to close they could be sucked in too.

This does a couple things for the game. First its good for players. It creates a new event for players to do they can go and salvage these wrecks.  It also creates a choke point for players. This creates a new PVP location.  And finally it cleans up all those cores lost in space, and we all know how keen NQ is on lowering save data.

This could also be taken to the next step. And when space stations end up getting an abandoned tag they too are sucked into these black holes.

You can only do one scoop mining, with the autominers you can have multiple miners active at the same time. With max skills you could have 36-48 autominers running. 4-6+ per tile, with adjacency bonus of an additional 60%. Gottchar calculated that you could get 150.000 liters of ore per day with max skills and 30-60min of 'work' per day. If the amount of ore per played hour is your only concern, this is better, unless you got thrown meganodes in your lap on a continuous basis (many meganoders keep forgetting that finding them is a significant amount of work).

Your not running around your 20-30 tiles in 30-60 minutes to operate your 36-48 tiles.  And you would have to do that every single day. (because you can only bank 10 charges). And you need to haul that ore to a central point for processing or market.  Probably looking at 2-6 hours a day if you had to run to multiple planets.

I don't really understand what the taxation is supposed to fix

Abandoned properties. A money sink.  Gets people more involved in the game as they either need to log in everyday, Do commerce, Do missions.   And its always been intended that there be territory taxes. Infact  you can go back several months, almost a year ago when NQ was showing off the first elevator. And JC was like and they are paying a monthly fee on those territories, to which he was corrected that we were not, and he was like well we need to fix that.

2 . Do NOT carry scans over to production. Doing so you will tip the scales against the little guy. Don't DU it.

Personally I feel carrying scans over is a compensation for hundreds of hours that I will loose when they delete the purpose of those scans.  And while you might say but you already got the benefit from the scans. Yea I got a bunch of supernodes. But those scans also game me territories that I would be able to harvest over the next couple years when supernodes ran out.

  16. I also dont like the max 3 months pre fund limit.

maybe we could have a new Mining Territory Unit.. if you use that, you will be able to use mining units and the high tax is due for that tile.
but if you use a standard TCU, it will remove all ore pool values from the tile permanently ( or for e.g. 3 months) but it will only cost a one time fee similar to as it is today,

this would allow content creators to get tiles for their projects and only if you ever plan to mine on a territory you would use the other new MTCU. This would stop people from massivley claiming minable tiles.

I think you are on the right track here.  Different costs for different activities.  I think a checkbox that you select. For instance, Mineral rights that you check if you want to mine. Industrial rights if you want to do industry, storage rights if you want to use containers. market rights if you want to place dispensers. Build rights if you want to place static constructs.  With a fee that you can opt in or out of for each and basic tax for owning the property.

So 100K a week for claiming the tile as a mandatory fee.

    50k to build

    150k to storage

    200k to sell

    250k for industry

    250k for mining

So you could have your territory for as little as 100k.   If you just want to build on the territory it would cost you 150k a week.  If you just wanted to mine on a territory you would need to build, storage and mining. it would cost you 600k per week (initial, build, storage mining).  Same for industry. 600k.  Or if you wanted to do everything it would be 1,000,000 a week.

However there should be a tax. Because the real reason behind the tax system is to get rid of abandoned territories. (although sanctuary is always free for you forever.

Let's be honest, auto miners will recoup their tiles 20+ times more than the cost of taxes.

Think we need to see what sort of yield we are getting out of tiles for auto mining. If we are only pulling in 200l per hour per tile. and tax is 1M per week. thats 33,600. so at 100q perL thats 3.360,000.  Its more like 3.3x more then the tile cost in taxes. And its not free as you do need to maintain it.
