  1. I agree with a lot of this, in theory. I've been arguing it in these forums for years. But it has usually been in arguments with PVP players, who wanted the safe zones removed completely, or made smaller, or whatever other silly argument they might have had for wanting to be able to shoot at people who don't want to be shot at. We already won this argument. You can do almost anything without risking PVP. You just can't do it as fast, or make as much money doing it. The safe zone is huge. You can warp between planets without ever putting yourself at risk. You can make huge amounts of Quanta mining and running missions. The only thing you can't do right now is mine Asteroids outside the safe zone. Because that system was added specifically to incentivize people to risk PVP. I play the game almost every day. I do zero PVP. I mostly build stuff, i mine a bit, i run a few missions. I even run missions outside the safe zone, and i haven't seen a pirate yet. Not that they aren't out there, but i'm careful. And i can make up the cost of my ship in one mission so if i do get caught it won't be the end of the world. I guess i'm wondering what it is you are picturing when you talk about the "fun" that's missing. What activity specifically do you want do do, that you can't do?
  2. Your frustration with NQ doesn't make me wrong though. I'm not trying to justify NQ's past decisions. I'm just discussing the game, as it is, because that's what we've got to work with.
  3. NQ does. Like it or not. Here we are. They were building a stool, and we all wanted to sit on it, and it was taking them forever, so they decided to invite everyone to pay to sit on the stool. It's their stool. I don't know what to tell you....
  4. I just skimmed the last two pages of this thread so someone else may have said this ?. But i don't think NQ's intention is to limit anyone to any one thing. This is just a side-effect of them adding parts of the game one at a time. Planetary Mining was the only way to make Quanta, or get ore, for quite a while, and everyone was doing it, no matter how much they hated mining. So a huge amount of the ore was mined a lot faster then i think NQ expected. All these systems are supposed to work together to achieve a balance. It's like NQ's trying to build a stool, one leg at a time, while we're all sitting on it.
  5. Aren't there asteroids in the safe zone? Also you can still make Quanta mining. Or running missions inside the safe zone. Up until now there was zero PVP content. Now they have one thing. Let's just let them have it maybe
  6. I'm not here to believe anything lol I'm just here to talk about what they should do. Maybe talk about what they did wrong. But i don't really see any point in guessing that they're going to make the wrong decision, just so i can pat myself on the back afterwards for being right. Seems like a waste of time.
  7. Why would NQ failing to prevent an exploit in the past, mean they shouldn't try to prevent another one in the future? There's no logic to that. It's just spite.
  8. Oh nooos the playing field isn't level, someone has more stuff then me. Burn it all down and cancel the game!
  9. When you start the game, you get free stuff to get you started. If it was possible to make new accounts without paying anything, people would abuse it to get more free stuff. You can always watch someone playing the game on Twitch if you want to check it out before you pay.
  10. Did anyone see these freezes happening on PTS before .26 went live? I never made it onto the test server myself. But this is a new issue, it's only been happening for a week. And NQ knows about it. The servers are down for an update tomorrow. So hopefully that will include a fix.
  11. Yeah but all the discussion about a wipe on our side is around the idea that people think we "need" a wipe to level the playing field. All the discussion about a wipe on NQ's side is about whether they might, at some point, actually need to wipe because of technical changes to the game. They left the door open because it might be necessary. But they've never even entertained the idea that they might wipe to level the playing field.
  12. There is definitely a new issue with the last update that is causing freezes for a lot of people. I've been getting them once every few hours myself. Just a frozen screen, no crash to desktop or error report. NQ is aware https://discord.com/channels/184691218184273920/307084295531659266/873265972658724884
  13. #2 was already in the code of conduct i believe. I don't think i have ever played an MMO that didn't have that rule. It's kind of necessary in a game with a persistent world, and an economy, where exploits involve duplicating or getting stuff for free. If everyone finds out about an exploit like that days before the devs do, it causes a huge mess that they have to clean up (hopefully). Maybe they'll decide to roll back the servers, and piss everyone off. Or maybe they won't do anything and still piss everyone off. ? Either way everyone ends up pissed off, and the devs spend a bunch of time doing things other then working on the game.
  14. Yeah this sounds perfect. It solves the biggest issue for voxelmancers, which is the need to actually store every single vector, physically in the game, if we want access to it. Which takes up space, and causes lag. So @NQ can we have this please?
  15. So i was thinking, what if it was possible to alter the shape of voxels with LUA? I don't know anything about LUA, so i'm just guessing here. But could that be a thing? If we could design a voxel, with an in-game LUA program, and then select an actual voxel, and hit a button to apply the shape, that would be good enough for me. Although i guess that would open up a whole Pandora's box of fun, depending on how much freedom NQ wanted to give us. Being able to program voxels, or animate them to some level would be pretty cool though.
  16. No, but also yes sort of. Sorry ? Investing something (time/Quanta) to unlock the ability to craft things is really key to the game's economy functioning. We need that. But i think unlocking a schematic should be a one time purchase, and you should be able to unlock them with Talents or Quanta. But once you unlock a schematic you should be able to create the item on as many machines as you want. I don't think the schematics should be physical items at all. Just let us purchase/unlock them from a menu. The process of managing which schematics you have, and which ones you need, is just too complicated. You shouldn't have to pay in blood and tears to start up a factory. Just Quanta or Talents.
  17. There are lots of ships for sale on https://du-creators.org/ with comments from people who have already bought the ships. But it's always better not to trust anyone, if you don't have to. Always use the Barter/trade window, and make sure you're getting what you're paying for, before you hit Accept.
  18. Yeah i don't think i'm a fan of this idea. It seems like they are trying to force some kind of battle royale situation where all the people who want to shoot at each other get dumped into the same area and blast the crap out of each other. Honestly that's fine, i just don't think it should be lumped in with asteroid mining. Usually i'm the first person to say that good gameplay is more important then "realism", but i'm having a hard time wrapping my mind around this one. Who is broadcasting the location? is your own ship ratting you out? is the asteroid trying to defend itself? Is Aphelia just bored and trying to make us kill each other? What if instead of every single asteroid that gets discovered, being broadcast to ever player in the game. Maybe once a day or once every few hours Aphelia broadcasts the location of a high value asteroid, that's somewhere in PVP space. And then everyone can go all crazy trying to get there first and fight over it.
  19. The capitalist in me thinks this thread should stay up, because i like where it's going, and it benefits me. But the socialist in me thinks it should be taken down, because it doesn't benefit all of us.
  20. In theory it should be possible to have a reasonable discussion about in-game economics and politics, and use words like capitalism and socialism. But this thread is a pretty good example of how that actually goes in practice. It's pretty clear just by the title that this thread was intended to go off the rails. Even if the mods wanted to give it a chance, by the time i reported it, it was already a mess. Some words just have too much baggage attached to them. There are plenty of other places we can discuss stuff like this too, without it reflecting badly on NQ and the community. If i found my way on to these forums today for the first time and saw this thread, my only thought would be that the company isn't maintaining the forums anymore. Whether that's the case, or there is actually a mod reading this and thinking, "this is fine" i have no idea.
  21. 30 hours later and the thread is still up. Hey mods, are you leaving this up on purpose because you think it's going somewhere productive? Or am i talking to myself?
  22. As much as i enjoy pondering how someone can simp for totalitarianism while also pointing at it and screaming "that's socialism". What i'd really like to know is how this thread is still up when i reported it nine hours ago?
  23. In Landmark/EQN they had the same effect of having your arm raised and moving dynamically with the mouse cursor. But it never bothered me. In fact i always thought it was a really neat feature. Especially for content creation. Since you can wave your arms and point at things. The two main differences were, one, the hand was always slightly lower then it should be. If you were in first person and looked closely you weren't exactly pointing to where the cursor was. Which made a huge difference compared to the hand being placed directly in front of what you are trying to see. And two, and this is the most important part to me, we had the option to switch to third person view. I think they should switch back to just the hand, no need for the gun until we have AvA PVP. And ditch the VFX for all the building tools at least. And PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE can we have a third person view? ?
  24. It is easy to start to think of 100kph as slow. And i would definitely expect the Landing gear to be totally destroyed. Even other elements around it maybe. The problem is the weird chain reaction of damage that happened that totally destroyed elements all across the interior of the ship. Landing gear shouldn't explode, causing atmo brakes to explode, causing a command seat and a rez node in the center of the ship to explode. If i had the Fuel tanks down there and clipped those on a rock i suppose that would make sense. Maybe they should give elements some kind of explosive rating. And have some more explosive then others. But really until they perfect it, i think it would be nice if collision damage was just a bit less harsh in general.
  25. I was flying at maybe 100km/h and bumped the top of a surface node with my landing gear and boink i'm a few hundred SU away back on Alioth at my rez node. Somehow it set off a chain reaction that destroyed the command seat, rez node, and almost every element inside my ship, but not a single one on the exterior was damaged. =/ I get it that repairs can't be instant in PVP. But outside PVP i think they should be nearly instant. Let me pay to repair my ship with Quanta, not my time.
