  1. The issue: My Avatar keeps falling through already loaded voxel floors and elements. Now I remember something similar happening during Beta and I was advised to make double layer voxel floors. So I did (both the landing pad up top and the floor on the bottom). I still fall through them! Then I added Expanded Basic Containers XXL, standing (longest side top to bottom) and then adding another layer of flooring. Went into build mode, moved up into the same Static Core L and left build mode, thus dropping down. I went through a single voxel floor, an Expanded Basic Container XXL (the long way) and a double voxel floor.... This behaviour is not consistent, sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn't... I could understand this happening if the floor or element didn't yet load. Like what was happening with my glass floors... But it's all loaded, I see the voxels and element while falling through it. What the heck!
  2. They did. There is actual video evidence on that, but I don't want to get anyone in trouble, so I won't be linking that. As for non-traditional jobs, those aren't the norm, so for anyone that doesn't have a flexible job that sucks. That doesn't mean that Joe Smuck would have been able to get that 600 million quanta patch of Garnarite or that huge patch of Gold Nuggets on one of the moons. But it destroys that illusion totally when some people got advance warning and the rest didn't... I spent day 1 scanning some tiles, got disillusioned and went home. Afterwards when the resource patches show up on the auction sites, I laugh so hard that it hurts... The T2+ tiles absolutely suck! It's almost as if the Beta was a completely other game when it comes to automining! So yes, someone just made 600M quanta on a tile patch that maybe cost 25M and oodles of time/luck... How many didn't? Would a two week heads up make any difference? No. It's just very sloppy from NQ's end.
  3. @Atmosph3rik The issue is more basic: how did you have the time to do all that scanning without notice? It's the middle of a work week. For many, that patch released in the middle of a working day... If people knew in advance, they could have planned around it (taking a day/afternoon off for example)...
  4. I regularly fall through my glass panel floors because they aren't yet loaded in. But what is really annoying that sometimes my ships fall through my voxel landingpad that IS loaded in....
  5. Erm... I am still 'enjoying' life on Alioth, so my space time has been very limited since launch, so no Warp Drive yet... I had stopped playing the automining calibration game a while back and since, quanta has been streaming in without the need to do missions... So buying a Warp Drive, some Warp Cells (20k each, bought a 1000) and three Territory scanners at that short notice was like 40M. And I have been fairly casual with DU since launch, that was about half my quanta. I used not a lot of warp cells, I picked up enough ore while waiting for my scanners to finish to more then compensate for those used warp cells. The rest I can just use at a later time for 'stuff' (I might even sell the scanners). This is no big org or whale quanta! This is just not being stupid, like still banging your head against the wall with T1 automining... The only real loss was the time spend. And the question is: Was it really or was it a learning experience? I did get extremely demotivated on scanning tiles...
  6. @Verliezer Which ore prices? T1? T2? T3+? T1: You're better off on Alioth, as it contains more T1 per tile then a tile on Talemai for example. T2: Have you seen how much a patch of T2 ore nets you? It's not enough to pay for the tiles with max skills. If you add T1 and harvesting, you will make a profit, but it takes a LOT of effort for very little payoff. New planets are added outside of the safezone, so you have added travel time while slow boating to a market that will net you the most (Alioth M6) and risk loosing the ship + cargo or pay through the nose for warp travel, evaporating most of the profit... T3+: Most people are not yet in a position to mass produce T3+ elements due to limits on talent acquisition (not even 3 months in). There are of course orgs and people who can, but that is not the average player that is consuming most of the ore... As people spend more talent points on higher level ore skills, they'll feel confident to produce more higher tier stuff. And thus consume more. The idea is also to get MORE people playing DU, so there should be more people consuming/using ore. Limiting planets limits ore, limits the groups controlling that ore. The reason why the ore market is so F-ed up, is because people can't do math, they toil away at unprofitable activities that cost them a lot of time. This is not unique to DU, pretty much every online game suffers from this. But DU is now especially bad due to relatively low population and relatively early in the game's cycle... @Wyndle If moons are not enough, then separate planets are also not enough, because of warping. For people where time is everything: Alts and warping around, even to the moons!
  7. With that solution everyone is a looser, not just you... 😉 People need to realize that everyone in DU (or any MMO) does not have a 'fair' chance, ever. There are always people with more brainpower, more experience, more time, more money, more luck, more capacity to suffer boredom then you. You could dumb down every MMO to the equivalent of Tic-tac-toe and there would still be people that would loose... And your solutions create other issues. Unlimited planets are NOT viable or wanted, it would spread out the player base so much, that it would just be another single player game that has some online functionality. Going back to the number of planets during beta is what a lot of us want, not just because of ore... I just think that the extreme ore scarcity hasn't made the game any more fun...
  8. T1 did spike... For a little bit... I also see T1 bouncing around from the weekend to midweek. It's still far from stable. And I still read people's comments here on the forum that are still operating their T1 ore fields at a loss... Eventually these people will wise up either by seeing the light or just going broke and their mining tiles going away... And I'm seeing the same thing happening with T2 ore, looking at the DU AH (Auction House), I'm seeing T2 flowers (10-37 hexes) being sold for tens of millions... If I do some quick math with max skills, those tiles will cost you quanta if you just do the T2 mining. If you also do the T1 mining on them, you might theoretically make a profit. But you also need to get them to a market where you can sell those ores at reasonable prices. That means a trip through pvp space, either slowboating (risk=>expensive) or warping (just expensive). Either way, the return on investment is never and you'll be stuck doing a lot of mind-numbing automining calibration at virtually no profit. More T2 is entering the market and for many their T2 industry isn't yet as optimized as their T1 industry.
  9. It sounds like the desync issue that was mentioned in the latest bug reports. I had a similar issue with moving my ship with the move tool. Put it on the ground it was launched far into the air, luckily I could catch it...
  10. @NQ-Ligo Any news/timeline on the Lua protection feature?
  11. Keep in mind that some with 10-20 accounts certainly didn't pay $300+/month... Some paid $70/year/account and prepaid for years. Sure, $1400/year for 20 accounts is a lot of money for some, for other's it less so. But keep in mind that this happened in a period where people couldn't spend money on vacations, going out, new computers, etc. Thus some might have that money to spend... Keep in mind that a study in 2017 had as a result that the average US student spend $900/year on booze... What if you're a student that doesn't drink (alcohol) at all? Add inflation and that $1400/year for 20 accounts isn't so much as you thought. IF you want to do that now, it is more like ~$2800/year for 20 accounts, but still quite a bit removed from the $300+/month... That said... 20 accounts... Much of DU is gated by player activity. I wouldn't want to manage 20 characters! I have four and while I might theoretically would like a few more due to talents, actually using them all would be an absolute pain! I wouldn't even want to think about using them all to automine... That would be another full time job! No thank you!
  12. I'm not a PVPer, but looked into it to avoid certain stuff... I would not depend on the wiki, use the info in game. Best bet that IS accurate. I use the nano backpack and look at the details. That Large Phased-Array Advanced space radar is listed with a "Core Unit XS/S/M/L Lock Distance" of 330,000m in the game. There is a talent to increase indentifciation range +10%/lvl (+50% max) handling skill (thus when the radar is deployed). Which is weird, because that means you could lock on beyond the max scan range... There are Ammo Range talents +2%/lvl (+10% max) There's a Railgun talent for range +5%/lvl (+25% max) There's a Railgun handling talent for range +5%/lvl (+25% max) (thus when the gun is deployed) So 1.1x1.25x1.25=1.71875 => An additional 71.875% So 176,000 becomes 302,500. But that is optimal range, it also has a falloff range. Don't know for sure, but I would assume that would be way beyond what you can Scan... Which is also weird! Rate of Fire on that big gun is 17s, even with talents, if you only have 8s, that is only one shot at best. If that even hits depends if you can track it and that depends on the angle of the attack. They might also come from a direction your gun can't hit... I have no idea how the tracking mechanic in DU works, but I would suspect that a large weapon against a small target would get worse tracking at close range, unless it's flying directly at you in a straight line... But many DU mechanics work quite differently from what you expect.... So let the experts wow us! 😉 But even if you hit with one lucky shot, would that be enough? What if there are multiple PVPers? How long would you last? I think that there's a good reason why pirates use small fast ships...
  13. Have you scanned them? I wanted to check some of the tile patches on Talemai itself, but for the life of me, I couldn't because the client kept insisting that the core moved (it didn't). Or are you repeating what you heard. If true, then that feels extremely unbalanced by piling it all on a single moon, all connected... Of course some one is going to hit a jackpot there... Another problem I have is that some people knew about the new planet and could plan for it. I just saw it in the stream and bought stuff, but even before the stream the TU market got bought out. So there were people who knew before the stream...
  14. But look at the cool Dustball physics and rendering!
  15. Very little of the old Talemai remains, so yes it's an old planet, but it went through extensive plastic surgery and currently has the value of a $5 hook... ps. We're still playing a beta... 😉
  16. *sigh* Talemai Moon 3 is claimed for 6.92% claimed (133 tiles out of 1922)... Hyperbole much? No, the moons feel as if someone just plopped down a ton of TUs at a random place and hoped to get something good (I have done similar things in the past). Imho the patches on the moon are too big to all contain T2+ ore. The Talemai patches are often quite small. I also suspect that some of the bigger ones are people plopping down a ton of TUs after finding one T2+ tile instead of just scanning all the surrounding tiles, just wait a month for claims to expire. There are issues, the scanning on day #1 just isn't fun. It honestly never was, but it has gotten way worse. Scans fail on even stable flat ground because the dynamic core 'moved' (it didn't), I have to place a dynamic core and embed the scanners in the ground, and even then it sometimes doesn't work. Even if you scan for hours/days, there is little chance of you finding anything of significance. And that lack of reward is an issue, a bigger issue is no matter how much time you spend on it, there's a huge chance you will never find any significant T2+ tile that is worth your time... Then looking at the smaller patches, that is not even enough to saturate one fully upgraded miner, let alone multiple. Talemai is a very nice planet, the snow, the ice, the lava! But it's rough as hell! If T2 ore was as abundant as in beta, this would have been a lovely spot! But even the T1 ore is sparse. I do like the Natron/Limestone pacthes on the snow ground you can harvest, but the rest sucks! Especially because it's in pvp space. So even if you after much work are able to get some resources, you either have to warp it out (expensive) or risk slow boating it (loose it all)... I see currently very little reward in going to the new planets and moons... Too much risk, very little reward! After a 24hr stay, I warped back to Alioth... *sigh*
  17. Troll a lot? It's been maybe 4 hours since uptime, no way that even if all the players that are left did nothing but scanning a planet and three moons for four hours, wouldn't get anywhere a complete picture... That said, Talemai sucks for T1! I'm finding a total of 250L-270L T1 per tile, distributed over three ores (Hematite, Coal, and Quartz). Haven't found any tiles yet with T2+....
  18. Look... This train will be going until there is no track left, no train left and it's just NQ personnel moving in a line and shouting choo-choo! 😉
  19. What? You still haven't gotten onboard with Dual Universe's NQnian physics? Go back to DU university you pleb! Weight increase in space fuel is due to Deck-chlorians physically manifesting after they have gorged on stem bolts... The reason why they can't be in the same fuel tank is obvious, the Natron stem bolt eating Deck-chlorians hate the Limestone stem bolt eating Deck-chlorians, etc. If you combine them in the same fuel tank, you'll get a clogged fuel tank at best or an exploding fuel tank at worst (due to the massive foodfight). Many testpilots also complained about highpitch voices shouting "Natron stem bolts are better!" giving them a headache... @NQ-Ripley We demand this be made cannon now! 😉
  20. How could I have forgotten the 'minigame'! Let's go for a Tetris clone! Or would they copy Clash Royale this time?
  21. Well... If that's the case we are in there on the ground floor and Space Rich! 😉 As for ground 'combat' that could take many forms. The sync issues that plague DU would using the space combat mechanic that's used in space unpractical imho. It could be something basic like having to build ground combat drones that do the actual fighting. Different drones for different stages of combat: Invasion (air), takeover (ground). It could be something completely different...
  22. T1 Space Fuel specifically. The T1 Space Fuel will require 90L Iron, 90L Coal, 90L Aluminum, and 90L Silicon (plus 40L Oxygen and 40L Hydrogen). That means 9x as much T1 ore as T2 ore is needed to produce Space Fuel. So, currently it is still cheaper then T2 Space Fuel. So I expect less people making Space Fuel with T2 ore, that would mean more T2 ore available for other stuff, thus cheaper prices (due to less demand). T1 prices on the other hand would have significant more demand, thus prices will go up. I can see T2 going down to 100q/L and T1 going up to 12q/L (average) quite quickly (at Alioth Market 6). We have a whole new planet (with 3 moons) coming out, even if T2+ tiles are not significantly more then the previous outer 'ring' planets, it is still a significant addition to the ore pool.
  23. What use is a roadmap when they keep carpet-bombing the road? They made an attempt at making a roadmap with launch and now suddenly one planet of Phase #2 is showing up (instead of the three that were in Phase #2)... Let's see how much is missing from 1.2 from this update: I suspect we might not see: - Adding the ability for repair units to use scrap. - New Orbital Delivery Challenge. Because it wasn't mentioned in the 'preview'... Of course a roadmap is a planned list of goals, and no plan survives contact with reality... But NQ, over the years, has made a mockery of roadmaps...
