Game Texturing/Lighting and Hardware Utilization
Cybrex replied to Metaphase's topic in General Discussions
We don't have any hard information as far as the requirements DU will require. Though, I imagine they will be somewhere between the mid - high end range. Since there is no instancing/loading in DU, render distances are going to be as far as you can see pretty much. -
Man after my own heart. If you want a big driver for conflict between players, then you need only create zones of rare resources (and limited). Limitation can either be how many are spawned in the universe, or how much can be harvested before it dries out. This then forces players to fight one another for control over said resource if either wants to progress forward in their expansion, technology or what have you.

Well frankly that isn't mine or anyone else's problem. If your post was out of jest, I apologize, but make it clear in the future.

http://eve-offline.net/?server=tranquility I suggest you take a look at this link, then perhaps gather your data before making trash posts in the future.

Clans/Organizations/Empires/Guilds UI and Info
Cybrex replied to TrihXeen's topic in The Gameplay Mechanics Assembly
There will be a community portal released for the Dual Universe website which will allow organizations to post their recruitment notices, and have some other built in features like a forum, member management (roster) etc. This is expected to release within a few weeks from now. If you want voice chat hosting, there are dozens of providers out there on the web that provide their services pretty damn cheap. Even if NovaQuark were to provide a service through their community portal, you'd still be paying. -
I gotcha, and sounds good really. Valid points all around. If you ever want some outside help or inspiration, feel free to PM me. I've written my share of short stories, backstories, and a novel to know a thing or two.

As much fun as RPing can be, I don't feel we have enough to go on to really make something work. Mind you, that's just how I feel and that shouldn't discourage you or anyone else from going forward with this. I just think it'd be better to wait and see what NovaQuark comes out with for us to work with. That said, I do thoroughly enjoy RPing and some good old D&D games. I won't make it my gaming communities' primary focus though, but I certainly plan to encourage it to have fun with.

Welcome, and hello!

What? Do you even know what team speak is? While this idea is cool, most groups will just use team speak for voice chat. Easy to setup, and easy to use.

"A few weeks from now".

Not yet robofan, currently all of the recruitment threads are in the Arkship Pub, so you'll have to dig in there for info on all the various groups.

I'm going to have to look in to making an "Eve Survivor Group" here soon. Haha. Welcome to our community!

In fairness, Eve Onlines CSM is a complete joke and is only there to fulfill the epeen needs of those on the board. Let's not forget how "rigged" the voting is by having communities vote brigade for a chosen candidate whether or not you liked them. Fortunately I think with DU, sure, go ahead and run a player council to manage the cosmos in-game. That'd be much better.

Man Archeage was a real let down. Started off strong, and now it's just vomit worthy to think about. Glad to have you here with us however! Another Eve survivor.... they just keep coming.

Good old NC. I was apart of goonies for a little bit, before bouncing to GCLUB, and shortly thereafter leaving Eve as a bittervet. Glad to have you here with us!

Agreed. No sense playing an MMORPG if you don't partake in the MMO part - be social. You're aren't meant to be able to do everything by yourself.
