  1. I'm sure I'll be eating up any game footage until release. The grid lines are nice, and knowing the fuel tank needs to be next to the engines for now was interesting. Knowing about the directional thruster thingy was interesting as well as seeing how big the smallest block is compared to the 1st person view. It was good to see but the connection tubes will allow the engines more freedom of placement. Seeing the inventory was cool even though the look will be different.

  3. Somewhere between in effect being "infinite" and NMS. I'm good with a weight/volume or by slots but I just want it to be balanced. Balanced in a way where it isn't like NMS but it also is something you do not need to think about or plan around. Expanding it must be something tied to player built items to help the market grow, and I would say tied to skill tree .... higher the skill the more capacity items the player can produce ... maybe even tied to rarer resources for the higher capacity items.
  4. As far as bases I don't think you should be able to simply replace a core unit to take it over but must take ownership of the territory it is on. I think it would be sort of cool to see ruins of bases/cities where battles took place. There may not be enough left to be worth it for the victor to take it over due to location, resources, or what is left standing as long as it takes time and is not quick and easy to take over a territory. Ships and stations yeah, I think the core unit would be the only way and a fair way. They should be easier as far as game mechanics to be able to take over than a land base where an organization has owned the territory. Obviously the design will determine difficulty so that depends on the builder but as far as game mechanics I think that would be the fair way of going about it. I haven't read or heard any specifics on this though and maybe I just haven't seen it if JC has talked about this. The taking over a base though needs to be an "investment" of some sort where the victor needs to weigh the reward vs what is needed to do ... this will allow battle ruins which would give a sense of history to the game as the game goes on for a decade plus :D ... as well as give the defender time to regroup and try to drive out the attacker before the attacker can take ownership. Land bases/cities could be something where dozens of people spend hundreds of hours in creating and so the process of losing it should be fair in comparison to investment needed to create.
  5. I may or may not have been planning the same or similar type of structure. Or I may not have or do not plan on it .... but maybe I do .... ummmm yeah ..
  6. From what I understand the probes do not build the gate or fly with a gate. The probes have enough power for one jump. Once it arrives at the destination you will be able to use it for one jump BUT!!! you have to bring with you the materials/people wanted/needed to actually build the gate. The probe doesn't build a gate, it is only a one jump deal. You bring materials and build the gate yourself.

  13. I guess I may be unclear about what JC meant exactly when he stated modify in the interview. If it is more of simply adding on without changing any of the original script and still keeps the script secret then cool. I was picturing he meant modifying the specific script, not simply adding another script.

  16. If someone can read it then they can copy it ... even if not a direct copy/paste using the keyboard. No matter how tedious it would be, if it is something that good then someone will do it. I'm not saying that I am even able to create something so good but I believe in miracles lol. Unless it is like a patent where someone who creates something new using a script that has already been made by someone else isn't allowed game wide.
  17. I would guess one would be good for the continuous connection of whatever it is ... not by a distance. Just a guess though.
