  1. As it stands now, and the future, why is there a reason to have cities in the safe zone? I see hardly any purpose. Flying around a planet is easy if you have played the game longer than 1 month. Why group up? What benefits besides a couple friends living together? You cant say for markets, because their are no players markets, and even if/when they come, you wont have hundreds of them on 1 planet. There needs to be buyers for markets to work. So again, WHY THE FUCK WOULD ANYONE GO LIVE ON SOMEONE ELSE'S CITY LAND? There are no mechanics for it. If they want a civilization building game, they need to make it so not everyone can drop a TU down or a static construct, and Rez nodes be POWERFUL things, that dont go on dynamic constructs, and where you live can determine where you respawn. Stuff of that nature. I see nothing in the works where people would congregate in a city in a safe zone coming anytime soon, if ever. At least with the pvp zone, it can be the "safety in numbers" and turn a normal hostile pvp zone planet into a "relatively safe area" as it would take weeks/months of war to seige a huge area with hundreds of territories connected. This is why we need to reduce the safe zones down to only Alioth + sanc, and rework how contructs/TCU's/and Resurrection nodes are deployed. They already talked about power management of tiles. They need to completely rework how Resurrections nodes work. For one, remove them from Dynamic constructs. You die, you die, go back to your "city". How many active rez nodes should be determined by the tile, and how many connected can increase that. 1 single tile should not support more than say 5(or whatever is balanced) people tied to that rez node. The more connected tiles, the more that increases. Now you have city areas start to form. There needs to be major benefits to building together.
  2. The reality is, you can't have this dynamic universe filled with "emergant gameplay" (something that JC says over and over) when you cant effect the gameplay of someone else. Thats just the way it is. Is the current combat completely broken and unbalanced? Yes. But even if they fix that, they need to drop the majority of the safe zones. Alioth + Sanc at max.
  3. It was never that way, thats just the way it was "pitched" way back when.
  4. Yet you are the one crying. Its hilarious. So then, what should we do, only queue for arena pvp? If not then you definitely the one butt hurt crying over a video game. "Oh no I died so I'm gonna cry about how unfair it was". Grow up.
  5. One suggestion I had kills 2 birds with 1 stone in this regard. Make small weapons the only ones available to "surgical strike" or choose elements to target and hit. For one it gives now a reason to use S weapons, and also doesnt make them OP because they have the lowest DPS and range of all the weapons. (Not counting XS because as it stands they need removed from the game). By doing this you give pirates a chance to pirate, but then maybe not be able to hold up against M and L war ships, thus bringing some balance and make you choose in how you approach your pvp.
  6. This is the dumbest shit written. Obviously you dont pvp or play competitive pvp games. This is a tired arguement that holds no validity. So kinda shut the fuck up.
  7. Not AI base defenses. Those will never work against anyone attacking you anyway. EvE's system is tried and true, and as about fair as you can get in a video game where you cant be online 24/7. Give some special defenses (player used) that arent on ships...sure. But also timers. Thats the biggest factor. Someone attacks your base, setting up a timer, giving you 2-4 days to decide how to defend, or evacuate. It's as fair as it will ever get. Period.
  8. it doesnt matter if a couple people do it. Thats just an outlier. Function > aesthetics. Those are just cold hard facts. When you ad function and reasoning for people to live together, they will.
  9. The problem is this, they are touting this bare bones mission and wallet system as something that should be featured for their patch. These 2 things should be a footnote at best included in the patch, not really warrant there own dev blog. Maybe the mission should, IF and ONLY if it came near feature complete, which it isn't. Give us the fucking dev blog on asteroids, and anything else that is actually content, and reasons to you know, fly out in space. Yes planets are cool, but where are all the stuff to do in space? where is the content? Where are the deep range scanners to find not only other ships, but maybe anomalies, or event wrecks deep in space. Anything to give us a fun reason to fly around and explore in this big space they gave us.
  10. This game is fucking boring without pvp. Pvp helps all parts of it. Even the civilization part. Because right now how it works in the safe zones there is no reason to build cities. Why would I live on someone else's tile when I can safely live on my own?
  11. Also one dude has his games mixed up. Its EvE Online that is like 27+ years to train every thing to 5. In DU it was about 6.5 last I saw when someone queued everything just to see. Considering I played eve for 10 years, and would like to do the same in DU If the game ever gets not boring, then 6.5 is pretty low. Means at some point my combat toons will be training industry for no reason.
  12. And I won't. Will have production going in the safe zone that cant be attacked. And will gain resources by defeating others and taking their resources.
  13. People always say that, but it's a video game. And my org will be at war 100% of the time. What you gonna do, stop me?
  14. I agree, thats the only way I would be ok with a wipe. Id prefer territory warfare to already be in the game when that happens tho. dont want no risk mining/scanning of T4/T5 ore
  15. My conspiracy theory is they will wipe, because here in a number of months, the player base will be so god damn low, that it will make sense for them to "gamble" and do a wipe to actually get more players. The wipe could actually get more players back and new ones then any amount that actually quit. Make no mistake plenty will "threaten to quit" but only a fraction actually will. And if NQ actually has a good update down the road a wipe could be welcoming to most people.
  16. Yes many things "seem" to be place holders, but I lack the confidence NQ has the ability to make changes to warp in a meaningful and balanced way. But way to often people do cry about not wanting "easy kills" and say that pvp needs to be "meaningful", removing the safe zones on the outer planet is going to lead people to camp to get their pvp fix. Some of us while we are excited for territory warfare, we prefer all things space as opposed to doing things in an atmosphere. Even if space stations make their way into pvp zones, how often am i gonna waste my time grinding structure timers like in eve ( they were painful and always a means to an end, which is fine) but then leads to, if I can camp a planet and hit haulers coming out of warp, why would I attack space stations then? Where is the meaningful pvp? Why even set up a beacon with my corp, when I can just warp from my safe spot around alioth to any planet when im ready to pvp with my group. Force projection will be a real thing, and having easy warps I see will be a big problem. Anyone gets intel of a fight going, Group A who has 40 ships can warp to any planet and get into the action. It was a big problem in eve. How NQ deals with it will be interesting, but I forsee lots of tears on the forums about bigger groups warping anywhere at anytime and zerging people when outer safe zones drop.
  17. This is very true. In EvE if you haul to lowsec you use means to make yourself VERY safe if you know what you are doing (jump frieghters, DST's with scouts, etc). And most times when I paid for hauling while I lived in lowsec, I just had them drop it off in the highsec next door to our lowsec. So they would do the 18 jumps from Jita, and I would grab it and move it 1-2 jumps with a scout in an area we lived and had constent intel. And to my knowledge most nullsec hauling was done in house. Same with wormholes. So that lead only really highsec and "some" lowsec for the random public contracts. Those did happen a lot, but the dangerous areas there was a lot more finesse and in allaince hauiing.
  18. Then stop commenting. Though it is a bit amusing listing to you cry.
  19. Ya anything close to that in context im fine with. This goes along the line with open world games, people try to make places their "home". And those with the means to defend/enforce what they want lay claim to it. Warp Beacons have a chance to be a huge deal, and a great engame (not talking about cost) but their viability, and their meaning. If someone doesn't own one or have access to one around a planet its hard for them to force project. Its something Eve has dealt with a lot over the years, especially with super caps. Force projection is a real thing. Warping imo needs to be more meaningful right now in some fashion.
  20. Once again, you can't see past your own hand. Its not my fault youre not smart enough. Sure, for me personally, I would want them to KEEP us able to warp to planets. I'll kill way more haulers that way. But in the end I don't think that is what could be best for the game. For one, people shouldn't automatically have access to every place in the game. In EvE You cant use peoples jump bridges in nullsec to jump around. You go to unknown territory in nullsec, lowsec, wormhole space you get shit on unless you brought a fleet ready to fight. It creates engaging gameplay, and helps people develop ownership of said areas. In DU the game would be better in that regard too. And the power struggles that go with it. If you want you can always slowboat or use means to try to smuggle shit in and out, but that creats a better dynamic with warp beacons and Space stations something meaningful to control, and fight over. And im sure many planets in the pvp zone will try to establish Public ones and do what they can to tax and make money off of that. Long term that sounds way more fun and engaging that what we currently have, or what is currently projected.
  21. Right now you land 10km from the warp beacon. I feel that could easily be adjusted. And dropping a space station would give a few km leeway on its protection bubble. Up to NQ how they want space stations to be actually an option in a pvp zone.
  22. People constantly say "PvP needs to be meaningful, and not mindless killing!" Well what is more meaningful than having beacons be the only thing you warp to. Now you have legit meaning to befriend people, to gain access, or place your own, or shoot anyone else that puts one near you so you get all the warps to there and collect the fee's.
