Get rid of mining for wood and let us cut trees for wood.

Fishing - this is really easy fauna interaction since they don't have to actually implement living fish (that's why it's a mainstay of MMOs).

Of course, fishing only makes sense if they add an eating survival mechanic, and, yes, I'll include that as an idea. Plus other survival mechanics - air supply, water, sleep, bathroom. We don't need detailed play on this stuff - just make it a nerf if you don't lie down on a bed for a few seconds every eight hours.

Other NPC and fauna interactions. Alas, this would be huge since they really have no way to implement NPCs when everything happens in the client. Includes mission givers and hunting.

Weather - again, hard to do when everything is in the client, but not as hard as NPCs since we don't have to see the same raindrops.

    These are also good ideas!

    That kind of already exists.

There are a set of monolith in several places in the system. I have found one personaly.

Those monoliths have some kind of code..

Those codes were joined together in a calculation and a secret loation was found. Im not sure but i belive the special t5 ore was found there.

There are also several monuments, some of them underground that ppl have found.

Some players theorize that the way to go to another system is linked to those acient monuments.

Ah, interesting. I've heard of those things. Perhaps they should make more of them.

  3. Just wanted to hear your ideas. I think a common complaint about this game is that the planets aren't very interesting.

I said in another topic they could add other moving beings such as wildlife and robotic machines, but another user said that it would be difficult to implement. I was thinking of varying the landscapes a bit more. Thades's large canyon is a good example of a unique feature that makes the planet look interesting. For example, maybe have the Alioth trees look more varied (with different shapes and sizes?) Maybe add some effects such as mist?

  4. I know that NPCs are not a new concept discussed around here, but I was thinking about some ideas in which they could be used:

Enemies: This one is self-explanatory. But they do not have to be advanced "aliens" (to avoid the "evil alien" trope), they could just be hostile wildlife or machines. Good for the PVE aspect.

Pets: Again, self-explanatory. Common aspect of MMOs. I believe that this was already promised anyway.

Allies: Recruit an NPC ally to assist you in battle, to guard an area, or even help you in something like building!

Non-dangerous wildlife: Maybe you can collect specimens (e.g. bugs and fish) for scientific missions or materials? (This can also apply to non-mobile lifeforms such as flora).

There might be other uses for NPCs that I haven't though of yet. Either way, I'd like to hear your thoughts and ideas.

  5. Just wanted to tell the story of how I almost lost my ship because of lag.

So I was flying around Alioth, doing some sightseeing - seeing what interesting creations other players have built. While maneuvering my ship near the market districts I encountered lag and my screen froze, as per usual. By the time I was able to control my ship I was heading toward the ground way too fast. I tried to pull up but I wasn't in time. I found myself looking at a loading screen and the notification that I died and the core unit of my ship was destroyed.

I respawned in my base about 20 km from the crash site. I figured I could find some way to salvage my ship, but I had doubts (I had come back from a long hiatus.) I decided to move by foot to the crash site to investigate my ship. After a 20 km run I saw that I could replace the core unit to make my construct like brand new. Also, Market 2 was only 2 km nearby so I could run there buy a replacement core. I did the necessary repairs and afterward breathed a sigh of relief. My ship escaped from the claws of oblivion yet again!

tl;dr: Crashed my ship due to lag but was able to salvage and fix it after a bit of a detour, thankfully.

  6. So I decided to play Dual Universe for a considerable amount of time after a long break. I was trying to get into space with a construct that I knew was able to get into space before. After a bit of trial and error, I realized I had to add a medium atmospheric engine to my construct into space. I was able to leave Alioth, and after getting to space I decided to go back to base in Sanctuary.

Little did I know that I had barely enough space fuel, both in the tank and in my inventory to make it to Sanctuary. After reaching space I turned around to set course for the moon. I realized I was slowing down from my initial course fast enough, but stupid me forgot to brake! I had less than 10 percent in the space tank after that ordeal and about 25 L total in my inventory, but I thought I still had enough. That was until I overshot Sanctuary and had to turn around yet again. I lost even more fuel. Upon turning around a second time, this time I remembered the space brake exists and this helped me with changing direction.

At around 10 su from Sanctuary (and 20 km from the edge of the safe zone, too!) and with about less than 3 percent in the tank, I decided to go at 25 percent throttle to about 3000 km/h, then shut it off. This time my ship was headed in the right direction. I let Sanc's gravity speed me up to about 4000 km/h, which happen when I was between 1-2 su from the moon. After making a gradual descent I made to Sanctuary and my base with around 1 percent space fuel left!

tl;dr: I almost got stranded in space due to my stupidity and lack of fuel, but a clutch performance helped me get to my destination!

  7. Funny you mentioned Dual Universe and Cyberpunk 2077 together...after playing and enjoying Dual Universe I was more eager to try Cyberpunk 2077 - now that I knew that I could stomach first person games. Cyberpunk 2077 was already on my radar but I was more hesitant to try it because of the first person. My hesitation disappeared after playing DU.

  8. I enjoyed the game when the beta first released. I liked exploring the planets and space. I also liked building stuff. I haven't played the game very much for a while now but I hope you guys are still enjoying the game! I hope this game doesn't die soon because there's a lot of possibilities that could arise from what we've got!

I'm thankful for this game for the enjoyment it gave me, regardless.

  9. How far do you think humans will travel from Earth to the universe?

I think humans may settle Mars within the next century or so. If the great distances between stars can be bypassed (i.e. a "warp drive" mechanism or something else) they will reach other star systems probably within a millennium or two.

  10. I wanted to ask people on the Dual Universe board about Cyberpunk 2077 partly because DU helped "prepare" me to play Cyberpunk 2077. The reason why I say this is because I wasn't accustomed to playing first-person games before DU but I loved playing Dual Universe. I was always looking forward to playing Cyberpunk but now that I know I can enjoy a first person game, I'm more excited than ever.

I'd be about umpty-teen billion times as likely to click on that link if it was to flickr.com, rather than that dubious-looking shortened URL to "flic.kr." Or if there were any actual photos directly linked to the post... And given how few comments there are by now, I don't think I'm the only one.

Okay, I fixed the link and added some samples to the post.
