  1. This ship building contest was hosted by YouTube creator Shams. It gave me some inspiration for some ship creations of my own!
  2. Pretty much, yeah (unless I had all the materials I needed....)
  3. Just wanted to tell the story of how I almost lost my ship because of lag. So I was flying around Alioth, doing some sightseeing - seeing what interesting creations other players have built. While maneuvering my ship near the market districts I encountered lag and my screen froze, as per usual. By the time I was able to control my ship I was heading toward the ground way too fast. I tried to pull up but I wasn't in time. I found myself looking at a loading screen and the notification that I died and the core unit of my ship was destroyed. I respawned in my base about 20 km from the crash site. I figured I could find some way to salvage my ship, but I had doubts (I had come back from a long hiatus.) I decided to move by foot to the crash site to investigate my ship. After a 20 km run I saw that I could replace the core unit to make my construct like brand new. Also, Market 2 was only 2 km nearby so I could run there buy a replacement core. I did the necessary repairs and afterward breathed a sigh of relief. My ship escaped from the claws of oblivion yet again! tl;dr: Crashed my ship due to lag but was able to salvage and fix it after a bit of a detour, thankfully.
  4. Just wanted to see what your camera preference is in vehicles. I personally use First Person even though I'm more of a third person guy. I like default settings and am too lazy to change them, I guess....
  5. So I decided to play Dual Universe for a considerable amount of time after a long break. I was trying to get into space with a construct that I knew was able to get into space before. After a bit of trial and error, I realized I had to add a medium atmospheric engine to my construct into space. I was able to leave Alioth, and after getting to space I decided to go back to base in Sanctuary. Little did I know that I had barely enough space fuel, both in the tank and in my inventory to make it to Sanctuary. After reaching space I turned around to set course for the moon. I realized I was slowing down from my initial course fast enough, but stupid me forgot to brake! I had less than 10 percent in the space tank after that ordeal and about 25 L total in my inventory, but I thought I still had enough. That was until I overshot Sanctuary and had to turn around yet again. I lost even more fuel. Upon turning around a second time, this time I remembered the space brake exists and this helped me with changing direction. At around 10 su from Sanctuary (and 20 km from the edge of the safe zone, too!) and with about less than 3 percent in the tank, I decided to go at 25 percent throttle to about 3000 km/h, then shut it off. This time my ship was headed in the right direction. I let Sanc's gravity speed me up to about 4000 km/h, which happen when I was between 1-2 su from the moon. After making a gradual descent I made to Sanctuary and my base with around 1 percent space fuel left! tl;dr: I almost got stranded in space due to my stupidity and lack of fuel, but a clutch performance helped me get to my destination!
  6. Funny you mentioned Dual Universe and Cyberpunk 2077 together...after playing and enjoying Dual Universe I was more eager to try Cyberpunk 2077 - now that I knew that I could stomach first person games. Cyberpunk 2077 was already on my radar but I was more hesitant to try it because of the first person. My hesitation disappeared after playing DU.
  7. I enjoyed the game when the beta first released. I liked exploring the planets and space. I also liked building stuff. I haven't played the game very much for a while now but I hope you guys are still enjoying the game! I hope this game doesn't die soon because there's a lot of possibilities that could arise from what we've got! I'm thankful for this game for the enjoyment it gave me, regardless.
  8. Just wondering. I have a small space station but it's kinda half-baked....
  9. How far do you think humans will travel from Earth to the universe? I think humans may settle Mars within the next century or so. If the great distances between stars can be bypassed (i.e. a "warp drive" mechanism or something else) they will reach other star systems probably within a millennium or two.
  10. I wanted to ask people on the Dual Universe board about Cyberpunk 2077 partly because DU helped "prepare" me to play Cyberpunk 2077. The reason why I say this is because I wasn't accustomed to playing first-person games before DU but I loved playing Dual Universe. I was always looking forward to playing Cyberpunk but now that I know I can enjoy a first person game, I'm more excited than ever.
  11. Interesting interview! I'm pondering whether I should go to markeedragon's party in Jago....
  12. Okay, I fixed the link and added some samples to the post.
  13. Hello everyone, I just wanted to present my album of screenshots I took so far in Dual Universe. The album itself is in the flickr link, and I've also provided some samples in the post as well!
  14. Love the ocean and beach biomes of this planet!
  15. I personally hope they don't remove the current safe zone but if they do it's no big loss. I guess I'll just try to adapt myself and my property to the changes....
  16. If so, what are you favorite tracks? I like the music! Very nice futuristic ambient music. My favorite tracks are "Pioneers" and "Cryosleep".
  17. Wow...those are all cool! Great job and keep 'em coming! My space station will soon be open! Once everything is ready everybody can come and take a look!
  18. NPC enemies would give players more stuff to do but I don't think they are necessary. I actually think this game is a breath of fresh air because it doesn't rely on you defeating hundreds of enemies....
  19. Not really. I kinda heard about that beforehand and planned my landing to account for that. I guess the surprise was "spoiled" for me....
  20. I heard the stories about the planet Thades and how it was a hellhole. Well, it may not be the verdant planet like Alioth but I still ventured there and I found the place amazing to look at! The canyon was really breathtaking!
  21. What should I replace the white pattern aluminum with?
  22. Wow, that's pretty cool! Awesome video! That would be cool to see in DU!
