  1. I'll have to say, figuring out how to get a ship into and entering space for the first time.
  2. Just wondering what you guys think. To get the ball rolling, I've decided to post something that I've posted on other forums (about movies and games): Of course there's not much of a story in Dual Universe, so perhaps the lore isn't compelling as an actual story in a movie or game. So the futuristic stuff is just a backdrop in this game. Perhaps the game isn't really an example of good sci-fi....
  3. Ah, I just went ahead and spend a DAC to see what the pets were like (but I will still play more DU this month.) I decided to post a pic of what one looks like:
  4. Hmm....I wonder if is this worth spending a DAC over?
  5. Thanks for the helpful reply. Yes, the community is one of the best things about DU, in my opinion. Both good and bad talk is good. I think the community is also not just direct communication between users but also things that the community built in game or showed off. I've dabbled a bit in Lua and industry (more so the latter, but I've coded a simple "bouncing ball" simulation for a screen too.) PVP is also something I've wanted to do, too, but it's something that requires a bit of investment and commitment in my opinion. Thanks as well for the info on the other stuff like the talent points, IAR, and the newsletter!
  6. Just wondering. In case you wanna know more about me as a DU player: The things I liked the most when I played were seeing and exploring the cool constructs others have played, and I also liked building static constructs of my own, too. (Although it's hard for me to finish what I'm doing.) I liked figuring out how to make a space capable ship, but that type of excitement only comes once. I also like talking with the community both in game and on the forums.
  7. While I was traveling in space in a ship with two XS space fuel tanks, one of them ran empty while the other was half-full (the engines were not taking from this tank). My ship couldn't travel further, so I emptied the half-full tank and attempted to fill the empty one. I got a message saying that the fuel is incompatible, even though I'm sure that the fuel used for that tank is correct. I think it's a bug with the space fuel tanks....
  8. Just thought I'd bump this to see if sentiments have changed regarding mobile NPCs.
  9. I just got my code from his company. It came fast!
  10. Voice chat would be awesome, even if I won't use it as much as text chat.
  11. I think there's a minimum threshold for objects rounded by their own gravity though (a.k.a. hydrostatic equilibrium) such as for them to be defined as planets. Ceres happens to be the smallest such object. But I see what you mean.
  12. Alioth has a diameter of about 252 km, if I recall correctly. For comparison, Earth has a diameter of 12,756 km. The "dwarf" planet Ceres has a diameter of 939 km. How would you feel if the planets were larger such that they were closer to the sizes of real life planets? I'm of the opinion that more real estate can't be bad, but I also understand why planets in DU should be smaller because of data storage issues or whatever.
  13. Tutorial, find a sanc tile, and then buy parts and then build a spaceship, probs.
  14. First images are coming tomorrow! President Biden gave a sneak peek today! https://www.jwst.nasa.gov/
  15. This may go a little off-topic, but I still think it relates to Dual Universe. After watching the Summer Games fest today and thinking about what kinda games would appeal to me, I was able to get a better idea of what I want from a sci-fi/futuristic/space game. It would be about exploring (and I guess, perhaps building) cool futuristic buildings and structures such as corridors, space stations, cities and stuff like like that. You can also have the chance to have PvP if you want in those buildings and structures. Also, I'd also like a game that shows the wonders of future settings and space. A game that makes you think how cool this sci-fi stuff is and want you to go into space in real life. A game that triggers that...sense of wonder. I think that's why games like Dual Universe and Starbase appealed to me in particular.
  16. For me, it's simple: I found out about this game from a Second Life forum. Was interested because of the space, open-world, sandbox, and building aspects of the game.
  17. I nominate this from the YouTube user "Bonusaben":
  18. I've heard more....grand (albeit vague I must admit) visions for the metaverse though. Things such as virtual reality, augmented reality, or at least larger or more diverse worlds and activities....
  19. For instance, would NovaQuark's metaverse be based on or build on Dual Universe? Or would it be something completely different?
  20. I probably had a different route to Dual Universe than most of you. I rarely played space games (or even building ones) before playing DU. I started with cutesy platformers like Mario and Kirby. The one space game I loved when I was younger was StarFox 64. Over time, I discovered RPGs and began playing those. Then after that, with the help of the Internet I became exposed to MMORPGs. My first MMO was MapleStory and I mainly clung to eastern RPGs like Aura Kingdom, Blade and Soul, and Phantasy Star Online 2. I also started to be interested in virtual worlds like Second Life and IMVU. Why would I then be interested in DU then, you may ask? I remember growing up and even now, I loved science fiction movies, TV shows, and books. I wanted to replicate the experience, that "sense of wonder" I had when experiencing those stories. Now, I could have just settled with another sci-fi game but I guess they could not give me this feeling I've been searching for. At the same token I love virtual worlds like Second Life, as I mentioned before. I loved the openness and freedom of it all. While browsing through a Second Life forum I found out about a game called Dual Universe which promised things like an open-world, space exploration, and building. I decided to give it a try when I got a good computer, and here I am now!
