  1. How old is 'old'? I've roleplayed for over 7 years now. Anyhow, welcome to the forums!
  2. Such things already seem like they will be a main part of the game. Woodcutting will most certainly be, as you can shape voxels (made of wood) with a lot of detail. As for agriculture, you will need to find a renewable source of food for your faction, group, and so on. So farming will no doubt be in the game, at least some form of it. You can be sure that this game will not be all about those who PVP/PvE to win. There will be passive jobs. In fact, earning money will be a main goal for many, as if you earn enough money in-game, you will be able to purchase an in-game item that will allow you to play another month for free. (As the pay model has been confirmed to be a monthly subscription)
  3. Then there's forum names. If someone sees your name on the forums, they'd have to be pretty crappy to steal said name. Of course it's possible someone might, however, so far, the people I've met on the forums don't seem like those kind of people.
  4. This is probably the third time someone has posted this exact topic. May I suggest that people start to check if a topic like this has already been discussed before posting? Even checking the Devblog would tell you.
  5. Brutal, yet inviting. I can imagine taking a bathe in such a toasty environment. Oh wait, my legs just melted.
  6. It looks great, but if that is indeed taken straight from Halo, you can forget using it. However if DU made their own version, that would be nothing short of splendid.
  7. I don't think mutations fit. The idea of it makes sense realistically, but in a game, it may not be practical. (Or suitable) As I suggested above, you'd be better off with a simple set of power armor with different modules such as night vision.
  8. In other words, most 11 year olds will love it. There is no way collision and some sort of physic system isn't making it into this game.
  9. Looking good guys, the DUA will be watching for the shadows...Or not!! We'll just watch from plain sight. Coz flip, why not.
  10. The grid size in DU is 25 cm*2 I believe, which is a healthy size for Multi Block Structures.
  11. Great! We are always welcoming new supporters! We are a very unpleasant lively bunch.
  12. Pretty much the same as my thinking. Creating the basic shape using voxels then smoothing it over. Adding pieces like the barrel, etc, would hopefully allow for weapon creation. However it would indeed cost more on the server so perhaps we'll have to pass on this one. Unfortunately.
  13. If I may suggest, we need a member list. I'm constantly losing track of who is a member and who isn't.
  14. Good to know. I can begin designing banners, logos, etc for each of them if needed when you're done.

    NPCs

You make some good points. I suppose this would make sense. I've been pondering about this myself. Having some NPCs as security would be useful. No one wants to spend their day on patrol duty.
  16. I suppose. However, keep in mind, FTD is primarily focused on ship against ship combat. Designing your ship is also a main focus, that isn't the case with DU. DU is focused on all of those things plus a whole lot more. As such, a MBS system may not be worth the time, effort and resources.
  17. Yes, exactly. However, I didn't say they'd be at the same stage as us humans, only that they exist, and should be a somewhat main focus of the game.
  18. Hopefully, we get some form of physics, Floating islands are fun, but not realistic. As this game is aiming for realism, I can't see them going without physics.
  19. Planets are made up of voxels, so caves are already possible. However, I'm not so sure about physics. The Devs mentioned a need to test out your ship in a virtual environment available to players so there would be no loss in materials if the ship crashs. This indicates there will be some dynamics to flight. Which means aerodynamics, and maybe physics too.
  20. From what I've heard, you get pre-made weapons and gear, no?
  21. Space Engineers's building system is a lot more in depth than you make it sound. From the sounds of it, you only played creative. In creative, all you need is a single reactor, a single gyro, some thrusters, and guns. Weapons have infinite ammo, reactors last forever. It's not very fun. In survival, however, you need to hook your weapons up to your storage so they can reload. You need to refill your reactors with uranium. Batteries need power to work (They ar also infinite in creative) You need to place all of these things so that you can access them without tearing half the ship off. In short, it's a lot more complicated than you think. Although, it's still pretty simple in my eyes. I support the idea of MBSs though, it makes sense. If it fits inside DU, however, is another question.
