  1. If ore bot orders are not replaced, one wonders how tile tax can be paid for from the ore it produces.

Of course the problem with letting the buy orders expire and then bringing them back, is that prices fall, people buy low, and then sell everything once they come back for instant profit, and the sell orders are gone again. (Yes this happened in beta.)

So better to either keep infinite orders at the buy price (lots of quanta in the system eventually), or let them expire and never come back (and let the attrition from people being unable to afford tile upkeep take its toll).

@Cergorachyour replies are a beacon of sense, calculation and raw mental power that keeps this dim place somewhat enlightened. Thank you for being the voice of reason on these boards.

Except that in the quote you're replying to "no taxes means no industry or automining" is incorrect. No taxes only means no automining. Industry is perfectly fine and works on inactive tiles. "Sense" is not always right 🙂

  3. Disappointing for an entire gameplay loop to have been removed from the game.

What if asteroids had been removed, or didn't spawn for a week?

    What if missions were unavailable?

How can PvP orgs plan their gameplay if there is no indication of when the alien cores will return? Is it 1 day? 1 week? 1 month?

  4. Your Haven tile is never taxed.

Any other tile on any (non starter, non-sanctuary) planet or moon costs (on the Beta) 500k quanta to deploy the territory unit, and 500k quanta per week to keep the tile in active state, which you need to run mining units. If you don't pay the tax, after 3 weeks the tile becomes unclaimed again.  If you don't need mining units to run, then you'll be able to turn a max of 3 (we think) tiles to be HeadQuarters (HQ) tiles, which don't require tax ever, but which can't run mining tiles unless you pay tax. No discounts for org tiles. You can only have individually owned tiles as HQ tiles.

  5. Wondering if it might be possible to modify the blueprint deployment to to allow, in certain circumstances, a substitution of the core unit.

    For example:

    • Increasing or decreasing the size of the current core (same type), where this does not cause overlapping elements or elements outside of the build zone.
    • Swapping between space and static core.

Though really I can't see any real need to constrain what core types/sizes can be swapped, as long as there are no overlapping elements or exceedances of the build zone. This would make the deploy blueprint tool even more valuable than it already is.

I recall the beta launch (I think it was the beta launch - not long after the free-play weekend that convinced me to contribute...) which got postponed by something like 5 days, enraging some of those who'd booked time off work to spam the servers to death on Day One... :) There was much wailing and gnashing of teeth. I'm glad one of my org-comrades reminded me of that when I mentioned I was thinking of taking time off for launch...

    NQ has "previous" on this.

In fact for beta launch, after deciding on the launch date and players booking time off work to play, NQ suprised everyone by opening the servers 1 week **early** for backers. While I can understand that NQ may have thought this was a welcome gift to the players, it caused so much trouble with people who now had the wrong holiday bookings. I'm hoping that NQ have learned from this benevolent "mistake", though the lack of certainty over a launch date is not encouraging and is causing people similar holiday booking issues, as we see in this thread. 😞

We can hope that the "estimated" date is just someone being overly careful (though perhaps ill-advised).

Why even have a server for free players why not just have them come two official server and give them x amount of days free why hide them from the real game where we can show them around and help someone trying the game out  maybe give them

some basic material two try building  and a starter ship  after those days are up if they don’t sub everything disappears

Because then a) the live server gets filled up with rubbish from players that stay for 2 weeks and then never log on again, and b) because everyone will have infinite alts to abuse endlessly, which would completely unbalance the game.

There is nothing stopping you from joining the free server if you want to help potential new players out.

The current setup is pretty much the best option NQ could have come up with, and we should probably give them due credit for this.

Apologies if this is a duplicate question but this is a long thread.

Does anyone know if the game time obtained from the refer a friend program counts towards the post-wipe rewards (i.e. if I got 1 month from the referer program and then bought 12 months does that get me the 'exotic' tier)?

Extremely unlikely. The 13 months is for subscription that your account has paid, not were gifted.

  9. Because the person who created the "Talent Point Booster" graphic either failed statistics or aced marketing (or both), some people are confused as to what the graphic actually means. At best guess it means that:

    • 1 month of 2x talent point gain;
    • 3 months of 1.5x gain;
    • 2 months of 1.25 gain.

Now, why might people be confused at coming to this conclusion? Well ...

    • The x-axis on the graphic is extremely unhelpful/misleading/plain-wrong. November means "start of November" (or just before start of November); February means "start of February" (or just before start of february). However, March either means "end of March" or "a few days before the end of March" (to give exactly 6 months). One means start, the other means end. No wonder you're confused.
    • The only reason we're able to figure the above out is a) because we were told elsewhere (not in the graphic!) that this is a 6 month event. This is not useful! (Yes, we can also look at the relative width of the bars as an extra hint, but see the below point ...)
    • The y-axis is on a completely made up scale. It's not linear. Zero is not at the x-axis. So the height of the "2x" bar is not 1/3 more than the "1.5x" bar, and is certainly not 3/5 more than the "1.25x" bar. This is just plain misleading (i.e. marketing) to make the "2x" bar look much bigger than it actually is.
    • [Edit] Finally, in terms of accessibility, colour-blind people will only see one bar colour here.

i paid the $120 on one of my alpha accounds back in alpha 1.  but when i log in the website it says i only get 1 DAC, but im sure it was promised more. because in alpha 1 the min to even log in and play under NDA was the 120 package.  Are we getting screwed on our DACS owed?

Our backer DACs are not in our accounts yet, so don't worry about that. What you can see is 1 "Summer DAC" which NQ created to test the DAC system (you can gift it to a new account for 1 month play before launch only). So everything is still ok there, and we expect the backer DACs to appear on launch day.

  11. 16 minutes ago, Damian_Firecaster said:

Were DAC amounts from backers pledge packs Doubled because of the drop in subscription price ($18 to $9)??? my pledge pack has 12 DACs, so since the price drop does that mean I will get 24 DACS at launch ????

I'm not sure why anyone seriously believes this. We will receive the number of DAC in the packs that we purchased rather than via any notional adjustment due to value. Yes JC made some vague hand-wavy comment once about "compensation" but really, we all know that's not going to happen.

  12. Just raising the suggestion (again) of not requiring schematics for T1 products. If NQ is happy with T1 factories, then schematics on the final elements is ok and (mostly) managable for assemblers. Then if the player wants to go to T2+, sure, have pure and product schematics.

With T1 product schematics, the schematic tedium hits too quickly in basic industry. Make the game a little fun, please! 🙂

Your likely correct. Still, past lower than scum developers have ripped off backers, so I want to keep this issue in the spotlight. I also found it concerning that nothing was mentioned about these from any developer in recent history. (At least none that I could find via searches.) And I feel the developers should be prominently highlighting the past backing pledges and how THEY will work before they try and sell people yet another tier of essentially backer rewards to push people to pay for a year's sub up front.

Basically I'm calling for more transparency in the developers intentions to honor past purchases via official info.

I thought those would still be available post launch just as they are resetting the 2FA bonus at launch.  Why would anyone want to use RaF between now and launch if those items will be lost?

I agree it's not clear, but suggest caution in that a) I don't belief RaF awards were mentioned in the same way that the 2FA ones were for launch, and b) it explicitly says on the RaF webpage: "(Technical condition: the items will be loaded in the referred player's nanopack, right at the start of his/her playtime)", which I admit was written before reset was (officially) on the cards, but it still doesn't fill me with confidence.

I'd be happy for them to appear after launch ofc - those 2 small containers and extra container hub will be a great help!

  15. You'll get the same items now as at release, apart from any extra goodies that come from the Pioneer Packs (which will require a certain amount of in-advance-of-launch monthly subscriptions ahead of time). If you want to have "faster" progress at launch, you could start now and get a feel for systems. If you're not bothered about that, then starting at launch will be more exciting and there will be far more in-game activity from other players then (it's fairly quiet now). But really, either way is fine so just go with what you feel you prefer.

Note that you can get some extra in-game bonuses by initially creating your game account via Recruit-a-Friend links, which provide benefits for the new account player as well as the referee (as described here). If you would like these, my recruiter link is: https://www.dualuniverse.game/signup?recruiter=30720

Edit: RaF awards are given the first time you log in - they won't repeat for launch if you've already claimed them.
