  1. This game being called a beta is a bit of a joke. If you’ve seen the login screen, you will know this is just an alpha in a beta’s clothing, since a whole lot of features aren’t even in game in a basic form... ergo: alpha. betas are supposedly nearly-final products with bug checking /balancing, tweaking and refining. This game is still rough as a badger’s arse. but it’s hella fun!!! 500+ hours and only a few regrets (3 complete wipes have nearly drained me of patience)
  2. “...Lead to a dark time in my life...” With all due respect. This is a computer game... but then you’re already gone, so you won’t be reading this... p.s.can I haz your stuff?
  3. Today was pretty rough... Quite a few restarts because of "HTTP error)" or something... Never saw that during the game before (usually saw HTTP errors on login)... I think we can safely say this game and its usage environment are "in flux."
  4. Very interesting... I'm not in game now, but my guy died a few of hours ago when he sat in a cockpit of his ship and it spontaneously exploded on the landing pad. I didn't think to check his inventory. Will check tomorrow.... I also have an alt... I will pick up a few litres of iron and force respawn him to see if he keeps his iron...
  5. I wish people would stop thowing their money at stuff without actually researching what it is they are throwing their money at but then expecting to be bailed out.... This is not a scam, they are not "deceiving" this is a beta.... The only thing I take issue with is NQ calling this a beta... A beta is a functionally complete bit of software that is in the lockdown phase (no additional major features) and that should undergo testing for sanity and robustness.... For all intents and purposes, this software is still just as much an alpha as it was 10 days ago.... Calling this a Beta is a marketing rather than a development decision, I'm sure. So putting these two things together.... The company is playing fast and loose with definitions, (just like everyone does in the modern, post-truth world we live in...) but also now more than ever, the onus is on the consumer to make sure they don't part with their money unless they are 100% happy to write it off... * I should know, I'm an SC kickstarter backer ?
  6. I heard that the "Lose inventory upon respawn" decision was put on ice .... You might want to confirm with someone who has actually respawned to see if they kept their stuff.
  7. Get your inviter to send the invite to different email address... But they will have lost one invite so they will have to send a ticket to NQ to reinstate the "Lost" invite. TBH, NQ's system of removing an invite at the point of sending the email and not at the point of the email recipient accepting said invite is a bit.... re... well, not allowed to say that word any more, but you get the idea. Anyone with more than a couple of braincells would have made the 5 beta key invite limit cost at the point where the invitee actually accepts and not at the time of sending the email... Alas, not all minds are created equally.
  8. I thought they were called surrogates, not robots.
  9. You can fetch your speeder if it’s within 4km using the F4 map and selecting constructs menu. You can only fetch once every 24 hours.
  10. I certainly can’t say this as a fact, but NQ are a fair company, I wouldn’t be surprised if they “compensate” beta subscribers for down time by extending their subscriptions. Before the context nazis arrive: THIS IS JUST CONJECTURE...
  11. I have a 2013 spec 4770K quad core CPU standard SATA “SAD” ? and 32GB of DDR3 RAM of some description. GPU is Zotac 1080Ti bought second hand after the bitmining craze started to wear thin. I get 40+ FPS and while it’s a bit jumpy from time to time, especially when I land at a crowded marketplace, it’s generally actually not that bad.. at markets, I often suffer from elements not loading (just voxels with empty space where engines should be) one thing I will say, though is that my CPU is constantly >70% even when doing nothing. I suppose we all have our own definition of unplayable. I have never used a monitor with > 60Hz display. (I have a VR with 144Hz, though) so maybe it’s more of a shock for you coming from COD or another twitch type game. for me, I came from ED at 60Hz and Cities Skylines which often went sub 30Hz with a massive city of 300k people. I play at 2560x1440p with medium shadows settings. I am also an SC backer and play it for a few days after every update to see how it’s coming along (waiting for SQ42). SC also runs fine on my middle aged spec PC so it’s gonna be peachy on yours. I have 2Gbps FTTH with sub ms latency to the first relay and <3ms to AWS so it might be thst is a factor ? but DU is, as I say, generally ok.
  12. That is the nature of beta products. We are basically guinea pigs, risking our sanity for an arguably-unfair head start over regular players. if you have the patience, wait a couple of days before you make a decision to leave or not.
  13. Nothing at all? Not even oxygen or hydrogen?
  14. Finally the game is starting to work as intended. A PLAYER driven economy. I have had to fly around the ark ship in search of the precious few bits and pieces we can’t make in our factory yet. (Lights, container hubs). The prices are Whooooooo high.... but I’m willing to pay them because I need the parts. supply and demand, baby, it’s a beautiful thing! if you can’t buy it, buckle up (can’t use man-up any more T_T) make a factory yourself and sell it for an obscene profit.
  15. Strange. I’ve been playing for a week. It was running smoothly most of the time. I’ve built a bunch of constructs, mined, traded, bartered and explored with pals, flown into space on someone else’s ship and watched as my dude got over a million skill Points in piloting. this is the best and smoothest week Of play I’ve had in a while (the last hour or so was a bit rough, though) . I managed to log in ok after the update (the queue was 200+, though) I guess it’s just luck. *disclaimer: this is just my anecdote. This is what I have experienced so far, no more no less.. please don’t feel that I’m saying you’re lying or whatever. I just want people to know that not *everyone* is finding the game unplayable. however, my experiences are quite narrow and purely on Alioth, I haven’t flown to other planets or taken part In PvP for example. anyway. The more feedback NQ have, the better.
  16. i'm really enjoying the beta... Had a rough 30 minutes just now, though, with constant kick outs (http error of some kind), but I guess that is what the current patch download i'm doing right now is aiming to address . Hope to see you again when the game is running smooth enough for you! Good luck with the refund.
  17. Doesn't shift drag work in the markets? It might not, since it seems to use a different interface to the containers. In your container you can hold down shift and drag an item and when you drop it on the destination a window pops up asking you how many items you want to move.
  18. You might want to hold off until the full game is released if rough software is not your cup of tea. I'm sure the devs are aware of the bugs and are too busy to read these forums... Just put a bug report ticket in.
  19. You could actually try to communicate with someone. This is an MMO after all... or you could put a ticket in to NQ... OR you could add your location to your bookmark, force respawn back at a marketplace, buy parts. Make a speeder and fly back here and pick up the rest of your parts. if a glitch like gets you down and stops you in your tracks, you’re going to have to learn new ways of overcoming obstacles.
  20. I’m in Japan, so a similar time zone. We have another chap from your neck of the woods in our org, I’ll see if I can’t get him to drop you a line. Welcome aboard.
  21. Kind of feel ambivalent About this. It’s great for Yama, and potentially NQ if they can put him to gainful use, but we all know that NQ has an all but no-communication policy with the player base (apart from the odd poorly voiced over video and a few dev blogs.) yama was a great contributor to the community but now I fear that the rules and regs will prevent him from taking part as fully as before, case in point, his dearth of replies to this thread. also, is the DU server now owned by DU themselves or is it still independent? Sorry I can’t be more positive, I’ve been part of another Kickstarter campaign where a supporter joined the ranks and it ended very, very badly for all involved.
  22. If all goes to plan and schedule, they should be back on line on the 14th.
  23. 素晴らしい! 日本語が通じるグループもあるといいですね。 また木曜日23時に楽しみです。
