  1. one of my alts is a member of the Utopia Spacer's Guild and has access to their beacon... I visited last week... A very nice project that felt relatively lively. Got myself a space facing XS core and will be building it up into a little apartment at some point. We are doing the same at Madis MP3 and are trying to become the Madis hub, like Freeport on Alioth.
  2. I don't really see the point in adding anything when the current setup is still sucky af... Though I wish you could set the gravity strength on space cores to something other than 1.0 or even disable it. And I also wish cores in general could have toggleable gravity....
  3. You keep making sure again and again to tell us that you deleted this game months ago and that you don’t even play the game because it’s beneath you and the community is beneath you. so how would you know what the game plays like right now? Lol. i have two PCs since I like to multibox. one is a recent Ryzen 3900 32Gb DDR4 NVME RTX3080 build. @1440P the old pc is a 4700k 32GB DDR3 Dual SATA SSD GTX1080Ti build @ 1200P both were fine and ran fairly smoothly, often pegging at 60fps once away from market places until 0.24. Since then the game starts to chug a few hours after server resets and I’ve lost 10 FPS on soon both my computers. still playable, just not as smooth as before 0.24 There is definitely something wrong with their cacheing algorithm, though.... Our base on Madis MP3 is multiple hexes across, but if you go to one end, all the elements unload and have to reload before you can use them... this is very annoying when you have a landing platform with no elevators and have to wait for them all to respawn before you can get back up to your ship... I find that I can reach a hex boundary before the next hex's elements have spawned.... I'm sure there's a technical reason why the cacheing is so bad, and I know full well that coding isn't magic, but seriously, if a 32GB 12 core machine with a RTX3080 can't keep a construct built over about three months by just half a dozen players (less now than before), how the hell are they planning for the sort of builds they showcase in the videos above?
  4. yes. once you get those skills that reduces atmospheric effects on your atmos and wings up to L5 you can cruise into space without too much effort.
  5. The only analogies worse than car analogies are gun analogies, IMO. only a tiny, special, subset of people has a clue -or likely cares- what you’re on about. lol
  6. Do you think they are charged for bandwidth? Like how much data the customers download from the DU servers? IF SO, they are wasting a lot of money/data. sooooo many good and seemingly workable solutions have been posted here over the years. I keep wondering if I’m just too naïve to understand the nuances of coding or are NQ really just ignoring us... hmmm...
  7. I have my line monitor on and have also noticed a lot of data being used since 0.24. Often it’s churning 30MB (bytes not bits) per second when I start flying. Crazy. im curious what it’s doing to my SSDs.
  8. Pseudoscience about thermodynamics... Classic. Reading isn't everyone's strong suit. ?
  9. I had this a few times. I think I just restarted and tried again.
  10. Are you talking about Sanctuary or Madis? the building in question was on Madis. The tall red one. We cloned all the features of it on to a dynamic core and flew that to their base. Now we are currently reconstructing it onto the locally placed static cores. It’s got a lot of angles and is really difficult to place all the cores accurately, since there is no ghost image when you place the bloop. Should only take a few hours to complete. Well worth the payment. our group’s casual numbers have dwindled but the original core are still here bar one. And we’ve gained two very dedicated recruits who’s re absolutely killing it.
  11. The game is not in its final form. pvp is still more complete than level 3 pets.
  12. Did you even "fucking" read what I "fucking" wrote... Aaron Cain said people are are making buildings solely for aesthetic purposes... and I "fucking" said that was not "fucking" so. Pretty straight-"fucking"-forward. Also, it wasn't one person... it was a group effort. Moreover, it's not a one-off... http://du-creators.org is literally filled with people building stuff and selling it... I have sold my 2kkph dragonboard bloop for 2Mℏ multiple times. And even 5 Mc.Buggle stand-up bloops for 250k each. easy money... no mining involved (by me). ^^100% Boredom breeds discontent... Idleness is the nursery of evil thoughts... etc. etc...
  13. And you can't read, apparently. (See, I can dispense completely unnecessary insults, too) When talking about tanks I said they were T3... I was talking about L Rockets being T4... not tanks. And I also acknowledged that it could be a bug... so not sure why you seem super defensive about it... So clearly it IS, like XL screens listing the wrong tier... unless you need a T4 assembler to assemble it?
  14. I like to leave a bit of ore behind as a gift for those who come after me; don’t want them to leave empty handed. ?
  15. Absolutely not true. We just sold a building for 100,000,000h.
  16. Not if NQ keep developing it. Ores are finite and non renewable. Alioth was densely populated, so it’s had a lot of areas depleted somewhat. Madis originally had and still has higher amounts of remaining basic ores. NQ will likely create new sources of ores like asteroids or even completely new planets to ravage and stripmine, what us humans love to do best.
  17. The flow of T5 ore to the safe zones is the logistics underpinning the economics. Getting to it and getting it out of the ground/asteroid and getting it back there should be the risk and require expense, making it valuable. players will camp over the T5 hotspots, presumably, making the larger orgs the only ones with access. orgs will merge and fight and eventually end up as clans and then even members of proto nations. who knows. That’s all a loooooong way in the future at the current rate of development.
  18. What? Srsly? Have you ever studied dynamics? Or even just Physics? the laws of thermodynamics also pretty much control games. make everything homogenous and random with no differences anywhere and you have zero impetus to move or evolve… entropy is maxed out and there is nothing left to be done. like a bowl of lukewarm water in a room of the same temperature. nothing changes. Nothing moves. Compare that to a room with a fire in one corner. The heat from the fire warms the air which flows around the room, warming everything it touches. the air moves, there’s ‘life’. the fire itself is dangerous but entirely necessary for the whole system to come alive. that is the T5 in nullsec. imo only T1 and mayyybeeee…. A tinsywinsy bit of T2 should be in the safe zone. the rest should be in places where real risk exists. as it is now, literally all they do to make T3+ hard to get is to put it deeper and most importantly slooooooooow the mining sphere and sloooooow the refining for god only knows what reason.
  19. Just came here to have a wee chckle at Johnny Tazer stating ‘carebears are toxic as fuck’ while apparently keeping straight face. Glad to have you back; I missed your colourful prose. Well, actually not just to chuckle… NQ were wrong to advertise PvP this early on. Basically misadvertising their game as some kind of massive shoot and gankfest ala EVE when they can barely reach 2x2 PvP (or support 100 now static, abandoned constructs sitting completely still for months) without lag. Pretty much the definition of bait and switch. I am not a pvper but was very annoyed to hear that the safe zone was extended beyond Sanctuary, making Sanctuary absolutely redundant. what a load of bollocks. however, we already know that NQ are supposedly going to build new systems or new destinations within this system that are not in the safe zone, yet people are crying about the safe zone seemingly encompassing the whole of space. banging the same drum, post after post won’t really help. Take a chill pill. NQ aren’t listening. Never have done, probably never will. all we can do is wait and hope that NQ can create some meaningful content out in “nullsec” which they’ve says d they are going to do… … in their own sweet, sweet time, apparently.
  20. Where did I imply you didn’t know what an AGG was? Or were you just slipping in a sly boast about just having them lying around somewhere, for the benefit of other readers or potential mates? ? Also, why on earth would you build a large AGG when XL cores don’t exist and no atmo PvP exists? Although, I suppose, you could call it hedging a bet for when (lol) XL dynamic cores get release. Why do I think it’s T4? Because it says so when you inspect it. Could it be a bug? Possibly. Do I care? Not really.
  21. If you can reach Madis, that is where most of the dwindling resources still are, currently.
  22. I, too am not in ATV nor do I know anyone who is, so do not get advance warning regarding exploitable bugs coming down the line... I don't like the word exploits (tho I use it from time to time) because the word exploit is just shifting the blame for a bug onto to the end users. Look at the latest major patch notes... fixed bug.. fixed bug.. fixed exploit on hover engines... (No you didnt, you just fixed another bug that was exploitable) semantics? sure but just like the word issue used instead of problem, it's designed to shift blame and obfuscate the truth. aaanyway... where was I? Ah yes... schematics at 99% discount. Them not winding back the schematics or alternatively not offering some schematics to everyone for a short period really made me feel sorry for the industrialists who never got in on the action. Those industrialists are one of the cornerstones of DU civilization, and to treat them like that (more like outright ignore them) was really a kick in the teeth. The thing that made this sting more is that schematics were already potentially the most contentious aspect of the game... and to allow some people to effectively all but completely ignore that incredible road-block that had just thrown in front of the industrialists to kneecap them was extremely harmful, and IMO exacerbated the exodus after 0.23...
  23. Best comeback to a necro slapdown ever! i'm stealing this... Though in terms of the game, it was always expected that the "pioneers' as it were would create the "civilization" (yeah, lots of airquotes, I know) and the majority of the players would come later into this already populated world full of strife, conflict, death and destruction because humans are incapable of creating anything greater. Sure the leaders have first mover advantage, but incumbents suffer from lack of mobility and agility by nature. Later players would be at a disadvantage, points wise, but only by a few percent in terms of actual abilities... since you can get 80% of the buff within 20% of the time.. it's only that last level that takes ages... But in retrospect, they will also not need many of the pioneer skills as they will come into a world already created anyway.... moreover, they will have all of the experience of the pioneers to learn from and likely make far less mistakes and be able to receive better edvice. For example, no new player will waste, as I did, 2,000,000 SP ranking up in Advanced mining efficiency knowing that JC removed any benefit from it... 2,000,000 SP down the drain right there... Then there's polycarbonate plastic. multiple people have realised that they have wasted sp on those skills. That's just off the top of my head... likely there are millions and millions of SP being wasted by us fogies.
