Why on earth would you paint a particular performance class of engine a particular and completely disparate colour?... makes little sense to me. Quite literally sprinkling glitter on poo, but for some reason they don't let us choose which poo and what colour glitter we want to sprinkle. If they were skins i'd be more inclined to have a positive opinion... as it is, this is just another minimum effort addition to the game.

Yeah I did. I have probably read more and for longer than you. But the topic is going nowhere and will amount to nothing. Just like the other 1000 topics on this forum. Show me a topic where an actual dev or game/level designer responds and that’s where I’ll make pertinent comments. The fact is if you want to PvP you need to be in a gold cube. if not. You lose. why bother trying to write posts and design mechanics that nobody on NQ is even aware of? why bother theoryctafting when it will be ignored with all the power a disinterested party can muster? if you are in a freighter in PvP and get pounced by cubes, you’re dead. you need to have equally solid cube backup to protect your freighter. cube vs cube. the game will always sort the meta. Currently it’s l cubes. so it’s l cube vs l cube. it’s very very hard to make a Paper Scissors Stone PvP game and NQ have proven that they are not up to the task.

I don’t get this mining trauma thing. I haven’t mined for the better part of a year. I build stuff… people buy it. I get cash. but mining is stupidly inefficient with server and voxel data. Single use voxel data should NEVER exist in a shared universe of potentially thousands of people… and 99% of all mining tunnels (pulling that number straight from my arse, I will admit) are going to be single use. what an absolute fustercluck. Now if they get culling correct (that’s the term for not rendering what isn’t seen) then they can actually just shift that data onto near-line storage and be done with it. but if for some reason superfluous data is being read time and time again, we’ll then they have a problem on their hands. they could also use P2P ala bittorrent to reduce server load.

PVP too specialized? Dude. How hard do you think it is to make a gold cube and stack guns on every face?

Why restart? What do you intend to gain? Other than changing your name, there is no reason you could possibly need to restart. unless the OP means restart but with current skill points still intact. (I.e. respec)

I’m generally OS agnostic and run a multitude of OSes at my business place but I do find that each OS is more suited to different tasks. For me, though, Macs are for work, including design, photo and vid editing and programming my PCs are game boxes and run my VR headsets. Of course, all my server and storage needs are built and run on Linux. I couldn’t imagine changing it or losing any of them. No windows? No VR. No Macs? Relearning everything again. No SE Linux? Have to use a more insecure and heavy OS to manage my storage and websites. Eww. I would never try to do AAA gaming on a Mac or Linux. nor would I want to wrestle with Windows and the plethora of monitors for photo editing since I have used Macs and their 1.8 gamma is ingrained into my soul. LOL. I would also not want to run a website on a Windows box or crowbar modern versions of standard software like PHP and Python onto the highly modified semi-open source stack of a Mac. The thing would likely implode. we are so lucky to live in a world with not one but THREE world class OSes that are all very, very good at what they do best just like any decent tool. conversely, best not try to cut with a screwdriver or hammer with a spoon.

Yoinks.. sounds rough. Hope you manage to make something of it this year, since the games appear to be going ahead... at least I already heard teams are on the way here. I put The Expanse up there with the Battlestar Galactica reboot in terms of story arc and character development. As well as being "Hard Scifi" Really amazingly rewatchable series. I loved the Tom Waits inspired take on Miller... Just fabulous.. and the dynamics between Earth and Mars and the amazing, downplayed inclusivity without the typical cringe. Perhaps the only downside was the lack of decent music in The Expanse.. Galactica had All Along the Watchtower among other epic music segments... Now all I'm worrying about is if Apple are going to destroy Foundation... Just rereading the books now.. Don't see how they are going to bring this to an ADHD loaded TikTok audience without eviscerating its depth.

I was overflying that area just now! I reckon MP3 might be one of the most developed spots on Madis. Now with our train running North East of our base, we have a 12 tile stretch! I always thought that patch of voxels would resolve to a QR code or something. LOL I've only had the invalid cell on planetary voxels... But usually a reset fixes it. Sometimes I have to plop a massive ice cream scoop of voxels over it and whisk them away to remove the blemish... One section of planetary voxels with a bug had a window to the soul that if you stepped through, you fell into the core of the Madis. Always wondered what would happen if you threw a dynamic core construct in there.

I'm having an awesome day.. Got my MSRP RTX 3080 back from repairs last week and managed to get it running... My old GTX 1080Ti is back in my secondary machine for dual boxing... Now my card is back in my latest build, I benchmarked my new 5900X vs my original 3900X which I used since last autumn... Currently I'm transferring over my files to my new 980 Pro 2Tb... My business has just broken its sales and income record at the end of last month ending a dray spot that started last April and I just sold a bunch of 10,000 yen 2020 Tokyo Olympic Gold coins I bought last year which were removed from circulation because the olympics were cancelled... They fetched $1500 each.... Also currently rewatching all five seasons of The Expanse from Episode 1 while drinking some excellent IPA Things are swell! Life is good. And you? I'm sorry, I've read that twice but can't quite grasp what you are saying... Probably the IPA I mentioned above kicking in... Could you explain what you mean?

Exactly, that is why if you mix a bunch of XS engines with S engines the system will divide required thrust between all engines... thus the XS engines will ramp up to full but the S engines will still be on <20% thrust... And since XS engines are less efficient in terms of impulse per litre (Ns/l) than S engines of the same type, the ship ends up using more fuel at low speed than it would if it switched off the XS engines and just used the S engines. No Lua needed to reduce your performance... ?

When you say "still," do you mean just people "were once suffering it and are still suffering it today" or do you include people who are now suffering it but haven't suffered it before?

I often see quotes like this talking about some nebulous cloud of white knights.... Using super-generalistic phrases such as "the community," or "everyone" when it was likely just a couple of people with a different opinion. But I see this exact same comment on every single game forum I've visited... Elite, NMS, Hellion, SC, even GOF... Yet I rarely remember this supposed massive cloud of white knights descending from heaven... I merely recall a couple of overoptimistic players once or twice harping on about something ad nauseam until they got bored and left. other popular ones are "I made a comment about xxx but was completely shot down by the community for saying yyy and everyone made fun of my clothes, taste in music and my mama's weight and sexual endeavours." Yet when you look back at the comment history, it was likely he got into a comment row with one or two people and they hounded him for several comments. It's also like those Youtube videos with a topic that people believe other people will find questionable that have a bunch of "cue the crowd of offended xxxx.... to arriave and say yyyy...." But it reality it just ends up a raft of people saying "cue..." and the nebulous commentards never appear in any significant numbers.

@Cheith I spend money on Materials, Materials, Materials. Our base doesn't build itself... We have a couple of miners who fill a bunch of containers for us and allow our group to buy with a discount... the rest they sell on the open market. In exchange they have use of our knowhow, L5 skilled avatars for buffing builds, as well as our "at cost" private dispensers. Landing strips, train lines, factories for different types of goods. Parking areas for all our vessels. Massive tall towers to annoy flyers (j/k) These take a LOT of matierials to make since we can't use material such as rock and sand to make stone, concrete and glass.

What? What discord were you on? This game has about the fewest white knights and the loudest bickering of any game I’ve ever played. if you were drowned out by the half dozen or so people who still believe in NQ, I’d say your technique is lacking.

Crumbs. I thought this was a necro thread reading these last few comments regarding 0.23. Had to confirm. yeah, I’m playing daily for about an hour. Don’t want to risk too much time in DU since the chance of it shutting down and closing shop in the next couple of months is palpable. NMS style redemption is the massive exception rather than the rule, so I don’t hold out much hope. pretty much don’t see many player on line at all these days.

No apology needed... ? We are all here because we are invested in the game, enjoy it (probably more than we should) and see such a great concept put at risk of failure and deletion. We just want it to succeed... So of course we can get a bit emotional at times... ... Let's hope these mini patches keep on rolling in... I prefer a number of small patches to a half-yearly, server-breaking wad of changes.
