  1. Also the only disadvantage with people starting later is that there character skills wont be as developed as say for someone who has been playing for a year. The game gets a total wipe at release, except for blueprints, everything is totally reset. So those early backers will have a very slight advantage over someone that joins the game on day one, but that day one person can still out perform and out develop them. So that sounds fair to me. There will not be any 'play to win' mechanics, just a monthly subscription to enter the game..... and .... most of us no longer get government subsidised university coffee BTW I never said there will be both, neither has NQ, so that idea needs to be squashed.
  2. Arent all MMO's a kind of time warp? ? My guess is that resources arent that rare in the testing phases, I have no idea though, tis all conjecture. My favourite ship is the one I am yet to build
  3. No need to move the discussion as its not NDA, most is just conjecture, or what has already been said in NQ's releases. I am certain new elements will be introduced and/or modified over time. The characters skill set also ensures that this will happen as only skills will determine when certain techs will be able to be firstly made, then secondly used. NQ has said the characters skill sets will develop similar to Eve Online - and to become fully skilled in Eve takes something like 20 real life years, so expect new techs to arrive over time. Secondly, JC has said that there will be some form of story arc to progress through. I dont know how long that will take, but it also allows for another mechanism to introduce new techs/elements etc. I am also sure that they will provide full transparency as to what elements are achievable in game, and what it takes to both build them and use them. Gives everyone something to both aim for, and in some cases, search for.
  4. It would only be blueprints, as the entire game world will be reset on games release so that everyone starts of on an equal footing. As for rarity? Nopes, not then anyway, maybe 10 years after release - though by then those early blueprints will just seem quaint reminders of days of old. I cant wait to see how designs change over the life of the game as new elements, techs, and player skills are introduced.
  5. Around markets, both white and black. Those markets will be formed before official release, and then very quickly restock after the official release, as designs/blueprints will carry over from the alpha's/betas. More complex items will hit the market quickly over the first few weeks, then slower as skill sets slowly improve, allowing for higher level products etc.
  6. I'm pretty sure there are many much costlier games to produce than DU. If however you are talking about 'cost to enter', well we still don't know that yet either besides "between $10 to $20 Euro's per month'. So about the cost of three cups of coffee. I can live with that - as can most people. If you are referring to the cost of entry at the moment is actually the cost to both back the game, and the privilege of helping to debug and improve the game, before the games release in a year or threes time. Naturally there are benefits being an early backer - as well as the danger that the game may never be released, though indications so far is that it likely will, which is why I will be joining the game come November-ish when Alpha 1 is released. So is DU for everyone at the moment, nopes, is it for everyone at release - yes (assuming they don't mind increasing their coffee budget )
