  1. When you say "football", do you mean American Football or what we call "Soccer"?
  2. 2017 World Series Champions! The first time ever for the Houston Astros. I don't even like sports, but I was on the edge of my seat tonight. I actually really dislike watching baseball (or any sports in general), but this World Series was actually really good, especially game 5. I'm thinking about buying tickets to go see the Astros play next year, something I never thought I would be excited to do. Plus my sister is a huge Dodgers fan, so now I have something to rub in her face for the next year Edit: Woo! My 1000th forum post!
  3. I sat in my garage with a cigar and beer reading a book passing out candy. It was one of my better Halloweens.
  4. If they don't respond to this thread, I would message @NQ-Nyzaltar asking about it :-)
  5. It's not implemented in the way that this suggestion is describing. The smooth tool as described in the video is a point and click one, where you click the area that you want to be smoothed out. In Everquest Landmark, you could select the voxels and then click the smooth tool and it would apply smoothing to the entire area you had selected. I agree that this would be a very desirable feature to have.
  6. You should contact support@novaquark.com
  7. It's all good, just keeping an eye out for you <3
  8. Don't post this here, this belongs in the pre-alpha section. Posting this here is breaking the NDA
  9. Don't upload images to the forum, upload them to imgur or something then link them in. What could you possibly be uploading that is over 500mb? Don't do that.
  10. 1) Yes, it will float. Same as Minecraft or EQ Landmark. 2) Yes, as long as they are still linked to the construct. Though in the video that was a static construct so it wouldn't have propelled that construct, but a dynamic construct yes.
  11. One thing of note from this video that I noticed (kind of hard not to) is that Micro Voxels will apparently be possible in Dual Universe, something that nobody was really sure would be feasible or not. That means all the crazy tiny details from Everquest Landmark with the Micro Voxels you could pull off in that game are, in theory, reproducible now I'm really excited about the potential for this.
  12. (NQ posted this publicly on youtube, so I'm going to wager this isn't breaking the NDA by posting it here)
  13. The only thing this topic makes me think of is this scene from Total Recall
  14. Read this comment thread on Twitter to get a better picture of why this will probably not happen: I would love for this to be a feature, but the last time I brought this topic up people shot it down and seemed to not really care about not having this feature despite all of the things it would allow us to do.
  15. I was driving today and I decided to switch over to Fox XM to see if I could catch it on the radio, and I just so happened to do it about 15 seconds before the bit came on. It was kind of surreal hearing about Dual Universe on the radio like that.
  16. I came across this article tonight, it sounds like Dual Universe had a spot on the radio, which is pretty awesome to me. There's even a pretty good 30-minute long interview attached (scroll past the first video) https://radio.foxnews.com/2017/10/13/mmorpg-dual-universe-makes-big-promises/
  17. This hypothetical game sounds incredibly boring and totally unsustainable for a long-term MMO. I don't think many people would be here at all if this was the vision that NQ had in mind, but luckily they've said from the beginning that one of the main driving forces behind the game is the political and socio-economic conflicts that will arise between groups of players. I hate to say it, but DU is definitely not going to be your type of game if that's what you're looking for.
  18. Being in the community discord is a privilege, not a right. There are over 900 people in Discord right now, and everyone knows to treat each other with mutual respect despite arguments that arise when talking about the game. "Be Nice to Each Other" is the core rule of the server rules that everybody has to read before joining the rest of the channels. We have done a lot of work to ensure that it stays that way. I get that people are not 100% happy with the way that moderation decisions are carried out all the time, but we didn't get to be this large by letting everyone run around mistreating each other without any consequences. We try to foster an environment where people can be comfortable talking about the game without fear of being attacked. I highly doubt that the harassment your brother displayed would be well taken if he did the same thing on the forums. Like I said before, if you want a different type of discord where you are free to openly harass people, you are free to create your own. If your motivation here is to try and get me in trouble, well... I'll let my own record stand as my defense. Regardless, your actions on Discord, here and (probably most importantly) the threats in private messages you have sent me have shown that neither of you are willing to contribute in a positive way to the discussions taking place on the Unofficial Community Discord. I have reported this thread for breaking the forum rules (Section 3.E) and the threats you sent me privately accordingly. That is all I have to say about this matter.
  19. I highly doubt NQ would overlook the ability to make an invincible territory simply by burying a TCU
  20. I won't install Empyrion again until you can walk around on moving ships. That one missing feature killed it for me in the end, and it's one of my most played games.
  21. NPC's setting prices are only somewhat true in a limited context. When you build a market in a high population density area, you're more likely to have bots showing up purchasing things to inject money into the economy there, however, you can't just expect to build a market in the middle of nowhere and have bots start purchasing everything you try selling. So the closer a market is to a population dense area, the more likely it is that prices are going to be regulated that way. If you want people to come out to your markets, you'd probably start offering more money for things. Even if you were buying from a population dense area, you might offer more money to people for their goods simply because you need them more than the black hole the bots are going to put them into. It's also not guaranteed that everything you try selling will be bought by an NPC, so some things might have to have their prices determined by the market completely.
  22. This video might help as well (remembering that this is pre-alpha UI stuff that will be completely customizable): It's also worth pointing out that many elements can be controlled with LUA through a screen unit. So if you don't want to fly a ship with that kind of interface, I believe you could just create your own panels and run around on a bridge manually flying by using menus and buttons on a screen (but someone will have to program that first). Here's another demo video of them building a ship that should give you some ideas as well:
  23. After reaching a certain altitude you can achieve "orbit" status, but it's not as complex as say a game like Hellion or KSP. However, in space, if you thrust forwards your momentum will keep you moving even if you cut the engines. So if you're trying to park in orbit somewhere, you either need to find a sweet spot to continue moving around a planet without risk of falling back into the atmosphere, or you will have to park your vessel in orbit and apply momentum in the opposite direction to stop. (I know I'm doing a terrible job explaining it) It all sounds really easy, but in practice (from my experience playing at PAX), it will take some trial and error before you're comfortable with it. As far as making functional displays, most of what you're looking for we know should be possible (heading/fuel/speed/attitude/altitude). You can code up whatever types of screens you'd like in HTML (or LUA) and make displays that look just as cool as the ones in your screenshot (it's just going to take actual work to do it). As far as displaying scanner information on screens, I'm not really sure if that will be possible because we haven't been told anything about it. It stands to reason that we would be able to, but that all depends on how much access we have to that information (since scanning, in theory, is something based on a skill level). Now for the other part of your question... Yes, you will be able to get up and walk around and do whatever you want on your ship along with the rest of your crew. Do you want to hang out in the lounge while your ship is traveling for hours on end to its destination? Go right ahead. Do you want to have a fancy star-trek like bridge, or perhaps something out of Battlestar Galactica or Star Wars? There's not much stopping you but time. Many people don't want to have to work in crews to fly around, so they'll probably end up in single-person ships. Others will want to work together with others, and they can certainly do that. Things will require planning, especially during the exploration aspect of the game. Do you have enough fuel? Do you have enough food (when food is a requirement after release...)? Do you have a contingency plan in place if you get attacked along the way? It all really depends on what you want out of the game and how you choose to play it, and perhaps who you play it with.
