  1. Considering Highsec in EVE safe is like considering jumping a red light safe. High Sec is the most unsafe place in EVE as you never know what someone may intend to do, especially when you are flying valuable cargo. EVE High Sec is scary and dangerous. I'll take Null any time of the day since anything not blue to me is potentially hostile and needs to be avoided, unless you are looking for a fight ..
  2. Frankly if you are out in the world carrying master blueprints you have every right to lose it. The simplest way to deal with this is to have a vault like setup where the contents of the vault can be either DAC or Master Blueprints. These can be access anywhere and stored from anywhere. The vault is bound to the account and so can't be looted. If you choose to transport either in your inventory they can be looted/drop when you get killed.
  3. @GunDeva It happens daily in EVE, people just are BadnDumb and fly their PLEX around.. Frankly, if you do not inform yourself you only have yourself to blame.. Before the changes to PLEX, you could redeem one anywhere but then not put it back to fly to a station where you could sell it for ISK so people would fly around with them (back then, 1 PlEX was little over 1Billion ISK and worth $20). Now there is a PLEX vault which is accessible anywhere. You can put PLEX in when docked at station X, fly to station Y and take it out again.. This works really well and I'd hope NQ implement a similar system in DU. Now, if you choose to fly around with PLEX in cargo and you get blown up, it's your own fault really. Frankly these days I just fly around in NULL doing exploration and carry 1 PLEX just for fun.. it's only 3M ISK so can't really care much..
  4. IMO DAC is like any other commodity. If you want to keep any with you while you travel and get killed, what you carry on you can drop. I do like the way EVE deals with this, having a kind of a bank system where your DAC are kept safe while being accessible from anywhere if needed.
  5. For one NQ needs to release more detailed information on the HTML syntax for screens.
  6. What is not cool about a 'realistic' event of leaving behind what you carry in case you get killed? IMO games where there is no consequence to this are the bad ones. It creates lazyness and carelessness.
  7. You lose/drop what you carry with you when you get killed in game. Ganking will be much less of an issues in DU as in other games IMO as it requires effort and holds more risk, two things gankers in generally tend to avoid. There have been a number of threads on this and I suggest you go through them.
  8. DU is a sandbox MMO. Once you are in you can go wherever and do whatever you like. There is no linear story driven progress which makes DU very much like EVE in that you literally decide your own path, generally together with others. In many ways DU will be even more player driven that EVE, if only for the fact there are no prefab ships and structures fixed and designed by the developer. Everything you encounter as far as these will be designed and built by players.
  9. @CalenLoki Honestly, you are pulling a Don Quixote here..
  10. I doubt this will be the Alpha release, possibly the one after that but not this one.If the dev team keeps momentum going, maybe in 3 months time which would align nicely with the announced updated road map expected to arrive the beginning of summer
  11. And now only count unique members Quite a few players are a member of several of these orgs which skews the numbers quite a bit. I can see this becoming an issue over time as well once these orgs start to move, let alone the fact that a number of them will simply disappear once the game actually starts and something called effort will be required to maintain an org's structure and health. Once the big and well structured organisations currently on the sideline (waiting for the game to get going) come in, this picture will shift dramatically anyway.
  12. We do not know yet whether organisations or players setting up businesses will be able to actually trade stocks. It would be en interesting option. I expect though that it's more likely the markets will trade commodities and goods.
  13. While I appreciate the intent of the OP, something needs to be addressed which I feel may in fact only be encouraged by this post. Something I have noticed is that there are a _lot_ of orgs that are basically copies in their setup and intent. Another thing is that many of these are rather pretentious and boast a 'leadership structure' which often is simply pulled out of thin air and has no real meaning or function. Also it's quite obvious a lot of these organisation founders have no clue about what it means to lead an organisation and just copy/paste something they like and throw in a Discord server and maybe a template website for good measure. It would appear that a lot of players 'attracted' to DU are rather egocentric and want to 'have their own little kingdom' which is actually not a good development at all and potentially could (seriously) degrade playability in the end. Now I am sure a lot of these orgs will simply amount to nothing and just fizzle away once the game gets going but really, you should _first_ see what is out there that matches your vision and ideas and only set up anew org if you can't find any. Most of these 'I am a huge org with massive structure' one-man setups will simply be squashed when the game actually goes public and a number of well organised huge member count groups march in to the game, I know of at least three that will make the larger orgs in DU now look like boyscouts as they have actual leadership structure and a large group of 'workers' who know what to do and when. NQ has quite the task ahead to clean up and restructure the way Organisations are able to be effective in the game as right now, most are driven by what they want instead of what NQ is actually planning/allowing, much of which we do not even know yet which is part of the problem because too many are just making stuff up right now.
  14. I kind of expect the implementation in DU to be much like jump portals in EVE. You provide an anchor end point at the destination which allows the gate or portal (which can be generated by a static or dynamic construct) to open a phased subspace path from there to the anchor where the anchor can also be either dynamic or static. To balance this I think the point you arrive at should be random within a range anywhere between 0.25 and 1 SU from the anchor.
  15. Welcome to Dual Universe! BTW.. The Space Engineers rumor is just that.. It's since been clarified that the intent is to have a feature freeze, work towards actual release and from there either update or create a sequel. Frankly, makes perfect sense actually. It's funny how the loudest voices now spelling doom and gloom have had their money's worth and then some form the $25 or less they spent on the game. Unreasonable and misplaced sense of entitlement would come to mind. It did not help obviously that a non native English CEO was putting himself on the spot during a live stream. He should have known and prepared better.
  16. Good piece with no immediate surprising news but definitely some interesting stuff 'between the lines'.. Nice read! https://medium.com/@jcbaillie/the-oasis-from-ready-player-one-will-soon-be-a-reality-870121af659e
  17. Comments like this generally come from people who do not actually play EVE, do not understand the game or got burnt somehow, generally due to their own mistakes or stupidity in game. The EVE community is one of the strongest and most supportive I know. If NQ even comes close to matching it that would be great. EVE is an unforgiving and harsh environment where loss is very real and it's easy to get punished for mistakes or ignorance. And to those who do not expect or look for that, this can be tough. EVE certainly is not for anyone, as is the case with DU actually. If you feel/think the EVE community is toxic you obviously have not been around much nor have you been part of many other communities. It's true there is a lot of banter and shit talking/posting in and around EVE but this is for the vast majority in good spirits and for fun. If anyone has ever been to FanFest, EVE Vegas or another EVE player meetup he or she knows how tight the bond is between players and how well the community building in EVE has succeeded. Again, an example for DU to strive for IMO. Could CCP do a better job at maintaining and managing (the development of) EVE? Certainly and we, as players, do not leave an opportunity unused to let them know, it's for a good part what has kept the game strong and going (as well as dying ) for a good 15 years now. IMO, DU can only hope to come close to what EVE Online has achieved over the years. It will be a tough uphill battle and while the promise and building blocks are certainly there, it remains to be seen how far NQ can take their vision.
  18. DU has the room to take a lot from the EVE back-end while the direct interaction with the game is so different there's not to much that could be designed in a similar fashion.
  19. With regards to the development road map, this is announced to be updated early summer. Personally I would expect Alpha1 to start at or around that time but this is purely speculation on my end as there is no information on this whatsoever.
  20. I tried to stay within the role playing theme of the propaganda post but it seems this is not understood. So let me comment as my actual person An autocracy is a totalitarian dictatorship where one person has all power with no (allowed) influence by any other body or party within government, which basically is a front to maintain the illusion of some form of democracy. In short, what the boss says goes. Now this can be benevolent or evil but based on the rest of the propaganda the tone is certainly that of a warmongering aggressive expansion 'kneel and commit or leave' organization. While I somewhat agree with @Lethys that in the context of DU a dictatorship will generally work best for quite a few reasons, there can be situations where because of a very specific and ideological agreement between members a more open and democratic system will work. In this case though we have a clear example of (yet another) org presented as a 'my way or the highway' style setup (where is appears it is not understood fully what is actually presented) which without _very_ strong and dedicated leadership will not end well IMO. That said, I do not want nor intend to further drive this thread off topic even though the subject matter is certainly one that will need to be discussed and addressed within the DU community at some point.
  21. If what you claim is truthful, you are not an autocratic government (which is what you state/claim you are) and I would welcome that. I would suggest you instruct your communications office to research this and make changes to your outward representation.
  22. Please consider Signal Cartel as a possible home! At least you will have a friend in us based on your intent and ideas.
  23. Your recruitment message defines your organization as an autocratic government and so the definition I posted applies. Either your propaganda is misrepresenting your intention or you are what you say you are and the lies and deceit tactic to solidify and hide the true intent of your leadership is already showing. If that is the path you choose that is your decision to make but he people of Alioth and beyond have the right to be informed of what your propaganda actually tells us.
  24. An autocracy is a system of government in which supreme power (social and political) is concentrated in the hands of one person, whose decisions are subject to neither external legal restraints nor regularized mechanisms of popular control (except perhaps for the implicit threat of a coup d'état or mass insurrection). Your average warmongering dictatorship. No thanks..
