  1. This ^... I have a invested interest in the vive now so I wouldn't be a unbiased opinion, I can tell you thing with biased if you want, but wouldn't be fair. I have used both, so it's an informed biased of course
  2. Wouldn't have to be a Dev at the end of the day, could just be someone who knows a lot about what is going on with everything. Some of the Devs might only be creating a section of the game and not fully understand other parts of it (not likely, but could happen).. I would prefer all the devs continue developing and they get someone else in to do the PR roles and such.
  3. Is that a serious comment ?.. It's just I have a hard time believing the oculus is better simply because of 'headphones', or that you would think that, Headphones can be bought anywhere to work with it or the vive. there must be other reasons to your thoughts of the oculus being the better device?... EDIT: I'm don't want to start a war here, but I am interested in your opinion, so please give a little thought to a proper response

I'm not going to give you a reasons upon reasons why which ever one is better because that's your choice to make, but I will tell you why I bought the Vive though, and it was because I wanted it to track the room so I could walk around and not just sit still, I wanted to use my hands and not a controller, and because it is backed by Valve. Also, when the 'touch' comes out for the oculus and added onto the price of the current headset, they will be more or less the same price, but one of them will not be as good at tracking. Anyway, yeah, I hope there is something, but if there is not it is no loss to me as i'm still going to play DU a lot regardless
  5. Well you know why I don't like them already. They contain 'collectives' and I don't think organisations names should contain the collective of what they are, their actions should tell you what they are. You could try something without a collective, and since 'The free worlds' doesn't sound right.. How about -The free people -Freedom -Black Hand -Oath -H.O.P.E, some abbreviation like Home of Planet Earth (or some such) Tired so they are not my best, but anything I feel is better when it doesn't include the collective terms.

  9. I have a HTC - Vive and wondering if there is any compatibility, or any planned, or anything at all to do with it, or even if it's been thought about. There has been something somewhere about Oculus compatibility and that it was tested and seemed to work. At least in testing (I think) maybe I'm making this up, but I hope not. I'm surprised I haven't asked this yet, but yeah, is there anything?. I'm not doing very well with my sentences tonight, feel a bit sluggish and 'ungramatical'

I can't promise everyone else will interact if you do speak it though,, but it's not in the rules to speak English so best of luck ... Also, 'I do know a little german.. he's over there'...   12. It's unofficially predicted as a mid 2018 release, so it's on the 2 year mark already.. ... hope it does keep to that date.. Can't remember where I read that from now. But your idea of how it should work I think is inevitable, other than the release of standalone devices (character/object creator) I think things like that should be kept for the alpha/beta only and not put out as a standalone but have the beta open so anyone can try them and the game together.
  13. What about if you have a option to keep your 'top 5' (or something) designs to be transferred/saved when the game releases, but these designs become available from a NPC vendor as well.. So you don't have to re-construct them but you don't get the benefit of them on the market place... OR Devs could just make them untradeable/soulbound in your inventory, so if you plan to sell them you can't.

Muahaha But yeah, I hope that isn't the reply and something comes out of it a little more concrete, I've kind of exhausted all the forums information and some elsewhere so i'm looking for new stuff now.   15. You are making me think of Firefly. Central core planets, and outer ring planets. This is exactly what I think will happen also. Because Alioth is the central hub for all new players it is probably going to become the capital world of the universe and be the main place for trade and commerce ect. then everything expanding away from it will be populated by fewer and fewer people giving rise to central and outer planets. Densely populated and lightly populated, it is by a players own choice to go further out than the central hub of players interacts with, and since it is 3D space and not 2D a 2D plan (i think) this gives a smaller and smaller chance of interaction the further you get away from Alioth. So if you are a hermit or explorer be prepared to lose track of all other people in the verse....
  16. Always a bigger fish... ha Anyways, from my little experience I have I beleive underwater and water related things are not difficult when the land is non-destructable. It is where you are allowed to change the world and water needs to react to it that's the issue. If you create a cave under a lake and then puncture the roof allowing water in.. what happens?, Does it flood from floor to roof, does it fill every sections and create air pockets, does it create pressure ? On a side note, I wonder if there is water pressure, given that there could be water and if there is water vehicles, we could require more advanced technology to get deeper into the oceans otherwise you start to take damage or your constructs deform based on pressure inside and outside (already seeing this is as a coding nightmare, but I have faith) think subnautica.
  17. I like it how you went from one topic to a completely different topic all in the same post. Your ideas on the openness of FTL and warp I agree with. I too would like to be able to just fly in a direction and lose track of everything and everyone if I plan to build or live in peace. Boss fight idea appeals to me, but would that not restrict solo people from attacking larger ships completely ?..
  18. I suppose it could go both ways there.. If there's a Stargate it means it's been explored enough by players to build one or find one and reconstruct it, so you should explore elsewhere. And also, it gives you the chance to explore elsewhere, instead of following in the step of the 1000 people that left the planet before you, or scattered faster. Either way, if that are or are not player made only, I have faith NQ will do it right, from what 'i have seen' they are doing everything right
  19. I understand all the points in here about space being space and the others about how we should fill the space ect. Alot of them are based upon real life and scaling it to match, but this isn't real life, this is DU and DU is a space game. What's the point in having a space game if the only content is on planets, or the rare asteroid?.. I do think that there should be things to do in space, because we should be in space or there should be an incentive to be in space. It's a space game and should be in space.... in my book at least. Also, can we try to refrain from swearing?. Makes the place a little more pleasant when theres none of it
  20. Although I must Say that there is the rumoured 'alien ruins' that we don't know about yet and they could be arksite/StarGates or anything. So I wouldn't totally write off StarGates being previous. Like I said in another post, 'need' alioths' could be server wide events that open up 'npc' StarGates to widen the starter zone or available starting point t for exploring the universe .
  21. I read all that saffi, and I think you could do that with just one single character if you played around with some of the mechanics you have described there. The multi-character thing could be as simple as a spy skill that gives you the option to 'select alias', giving the guise of you either logging out or logging in as a secondary character, but you are in fact just putting on a disguise. Couple of levels to it like you have depending on your spy skill: Could be 'chat disguise' you can infiltrate and pretend to be a person in another chat, but it requires 'hacking into' that chat, which other spy masters inside the chat could 'anti-hack'. If you are found out the 'anti hackers' could have the option to either remove you, which would just get rid of your ability to chat/watch much like /quiting the chat yourself but forces and without any visual indication to the guild you were spying on that it was you as the spy. Or the 'anti-hackers' could 'trace-hack' giving them the change to find out who you are, where you are and what organisation you are from ect, depending on how long you let them trace you for (could have a indication that you are being traced, depending on your level vs their level) Another one, like you pointed out, could be 'Visual Disguise'. You simply copy the appearance of a person, basically 'hack' their look and credentials (this could be ontop of the 'chat-hack' so its more believable) giving you the chance to infiltrate their base and loot chests and anything the person you 'hacked' can do, give more need to set out correct tag on people, so that spy's can't do anything they like. The 'anti-hack' for this could be security checkpoints, or scanners inside the base that indicated you are a spy but only to those who can see or hear the element (so it's got some leg room to work). Obviously if you get found 'visual hacking' the enemy has the option to shoot you, immediately removing your hack so everyone knows, or let you go about your business and trap you or watch what you do. Trapping someone you could incorporate all sorts of skills, that would let you interrogate people, or view inventory, or 'pretend' to be them on their chat to see if you could lure more people into traps, obviously traps should only last so long.. OR you could download a 'player file' if you trap them giving you access to all this, and a risk/reward factor to spying. Don't know if that makes sense, I was kind of just building upon saffi's idea.

The whole 'need people' is what I think the direction they are going to take DU, because when they say 'you won't leave Alioth for the first few months'... it makes me think just how difficult it's going to be to make it to space, and i assume they are taking into account the amount of people that could be working together to get out into space... But, the materials needed for the blueprint, i'm sure I read it somewhere that it would tell you if you had enough or not, i just can't seem to find it, so maybe i'm just imagining things, i have seen alot today so could be me
  23. Virtual Simulator: enabling player to enter a virtual world (call it “inception syndrome”!). While in that virtual space, the player would be able to design any construct, in a completely peaceful setting. This would help builders to design their construct and create their blueprints safely, without being interrupted by any PvP action. For ships, it will also be possible to test their flight mode, without risking a crash or wasting resources!

Not a concept, they've got it in one of their DevBlogs Link: https://devblog.dualthegame.com/2016/02/20/builder-gameplay-voxel-tools-elements/ I'm sure some part in there also says that anything designed inside the virtual world as a blueprint will be buildable quickly if you have the materials. So to answer your question, why would you start to build something precious if you didn't have the materials required for it ? I'm assuming also, that the materials required are shown on the blueprint, can't remember if that's confirmed in there or not anymore.
