  1. I don't understand what this topic is for Ripper. Could you elaborate on what you want us to participate in ? nora,
  2. If you look carefully at some of the recent tweeted images you will notice that some of the characters are using emote/ movement such as kneeling and face palming. I believe that NQ is planning on having some proper social interacting in DU because how else would you converse with people correctly when almost 100% of the politics and interacts are player designed/ created. You can't have that much reliant on the players without giving them the proper tools to do it with. However there have been confirmed emotes and the like by twitter
  3. Oh wow.. if you have not tried space engineers and you like what DU is becoming. I would highly suggest that you go out, get it, and play it while you wait. Big learning curve for a new person now but once you get around that you'll be absolutely fine doing anything
  4. Excuse me.. I prefer the term, Independent Adventurer!... But yeah, Ripper is right, you can have a ship any size you want (when you have the materials for it of course) with as many places for people inside it as you want, but that majority of actions that will be required are presumed to be able to be scripted, if you are good enough with Lua. I'm going to stick to the small single player ships that i can nip around and potentially breach inside bigger ships and fly around inside them.. Think episode one!
  5. ^ THAT... Not the shoes, couldn't care less about the shoes... but ALIOTH WITH ARKSHIP!.. Alioth with an arkship would be great, like a standard globe but with the terrain in the shape of Alioth and a arkship sticking out. I would have this on my desk while playing. Could potentially work as a map too.
  6. You flamethrower isn't very hot... only around 500'c.. that's like a ovens cleaning cycle.. But i think i might decline your services in the future, I like my swiss citizenship...
  7. I'm just sitting here thinking of different materials now. Solar Absorbent material. So instead of it being a 'element' that you put down for the solar panels, you actually create your own from materials in your 'nanobelt' in a shape that you want.. And if it follows all the other rules of construction with voxel then you can create and save your own solar modules . I do think that there should be some form of battery that can transfer in and out power, just like some materials in your belt. So you can dock with a spacestation and 'recharge' your ship.
  8. I learnt how to logic in minecraft, well I knew logic circuits but not how to use them and such, minecraft actually taught me Redstone is 100% the best thing minecraft has done, other that what tekkit has done to it.
  9. Space engineers actually has a mod that puts them in and they work exactly like the show with the bubbles and everything.
  10. I disagree, I think anything is possible you just have to try harder . As for the other lovely bit of information. That is lovely.
  11. You're just a big bliddy tease you know that...........
  12. Welcome to DU, I can't say I've played StarFlight but i certainly remember Descent, and remembering being frustrated at it because it was too difficult for me (just a kid then) they were back in the days of Dos and the 3D-menu were they not?. nora,
  13. I'm going to elaborate for them till they come back. I'm assuming they mean is it going to be either of the following: - Orbital flight where you need to continuously travel around the planet to maintain a specific altitude above the surface, and to get from planet to planet you need to play around with the ideas of apoapsis/periapsis before you can leave the gravity's sphere of influence and enter another bodies gravity sphere. Kerbal Flight - Or the easier to manage, point this direction and you will go this direction. The only influencing mechanic on your ship is drift. If you go a certain speed in a direction and quickly change direction you will drift slightly till the ship can slow you down enough to allow you to go in the new direction. Star Citizen Flight. I think that's what they might have meant, but if it's not then I'm curious anyway. nora,

    jetpacks

Could you elaborate on the mechanics of the jetpacks?. Such as: -How long can you fly? -How high can you go? -Will you be able to hurt yourself while using them? -Will they use fuel? -Will there be upgrades for them? -Can we hover, or will it be 'keep tapping to hover' mechanics? ect. nora,
  15. I have a request, can I help you do your job and get access to all the nice 'hidden' information that I want about NQ/DU ?...
  16. Well to each their own, I was simply offering suggestions that I personally would prefer to see in the naming of a organisation. It's your organisation, you can name it what you like. But just think of all the organisations out there that are just a name, all the companies. It's only land-masses or political groups that tend to have a collective term attached to them. Coke, Pepsi, Google, Microsoft, Cat, Hyundai, NovaQuark, Enjin, Blizzard, Activision, ect... There are a lot..
  17. You do realize that you'll not be able to make that ship for months right? It's been said that no-one will be able to leave Alioth within the first few months, even with basic starter ships, so you won't be able to make that straight away anyway, and by the time you do make it other people would have made something similar/better. Also, I disagree 100% with anyone keeping something like that to themselves (that has been designed in the beta) because something like that is a 'big' advantage over other people who are starting on start day and don't have any blueprints. If it's on the NPC market for a fair price then keep it all you want, other people would have it also they just wouldn't be able to edit it (as it would be a copy BP not original), but you wouldn't be able to sell it. I don't want to come into the game the first week and see ships like that on the market place that have been built in the beta so that beta people can get a advantage over the new starters. Also, it's beta, why would you build something like that in beta? Beta is supposed to be for testing the game (and playing a little) to make sure that it's working correctly for launch, it is not a place to build/construct things that you want to use in the released game. {After Re-reading my post} In fact I've turned myself off the idea of players keeping anything from the alpha/beta unless it's transferred to only exists as a purchasable item/BP from a NPC vendor. Reason for this is self-sabotage. You could create the greatest ship possible, with all the bells and whistle, then remove all the major elements that make it great. It's then uploaded to the NPC shop as the sabotage version that people can buy but cannot edit. While you have the master BP and just add back on the elements required to make it great again, giving you a massive advantage over other people because you still have you great BP given that you can remember where all the elements go. Giving the creations to the NPC vendor ONLY so that even the creator has to buy a Copy-BP, that is not editable, is the only fair way I can think about transferring over anything created in alpha/beta. Someone somewhere till find a way to glitch/cheat through the alpha/beta transfer and give themselves an advantage in the start of the game. I want a fresh game where the only thing people have from the alpha/beta is there knowledge and that's it, anything else would give a unfair advantage. Think about if you could transfer simple buildings/ machines that didn't do anything other than help you start the game off better. Like a very basic mining machine that allows you to get rare resources from day one?... Not Fair. If you want something you built in alpha/beta that you can edit/sell..... Build it again. nora,
  18. There is a 'virtual world' so i don't see why it would be against any 'lore' or 'immersion' to incorporate any of the ideas you've said, that being the symmetry. The other things that's been mentioned about mutli-select ect are already confirmed by Nyz in another post or maybe Devblog. I asked if you could have 'snaping' constructs that you've built, and have them be able to be added onto the construct your building now, and he said there will be a copy/paste function along with a area select. So the majority of it there is already confirmed, I'll just have to see if i can find that post to see if it had anything to speak of on symmetry
  19. I couldn't help thinking about 'Starbound' there and tentacle planets, where the vegetation attacks you. That would be an interesting planet i think, you land there and the PLANTS come after you, growing at a exponential rate covering everything unless you burn them away with fire or some forcefield. I'm thinking of two things that are like that, the 'growth' in C&C Tiberian Wars, where it had the mouth at the center and if tanks when through the 'growth' (not sure of it's name) they would take damage and die, same as if it grow towards buildings. The other one is Creeper world, constantly flooding planets that if it gets to you, you die and you need to fend it off. Either way, I would love a planet that attacks you and tried to stop you from colonizing it.
  20. @Astro - only till the oculus touch is out. How much do you think that will increase the price by so that it can have matching controllers to the vive?.. I'd say it will have equal price then, so no arguments there. @Slaxx - do what I did and get two camera tripods for like £5 each and hold them up that way. Also to point out, the oculus as far as I'm aware is stationary tracking, meaning if you move out your spot it stops tracking you, the vive has a tracking area of 5m**2, with controllers and front camera and bunch of other things...
  21. You could have been the 'Red Masons'... wasnt that a group of people from red faction ?... good games them for their destruction... other than Armageddon, that was poop.
  22. Well, looks like I'm getting out of Alioth as soon as possible if that's the plan. However, I don't think they should disappear in a (poof)... they could start to decay from the top down (if you don't log in or something)... but since they will all be open to players and possibly not under a TU, would we not just be able to morpher them down ?
  23. Welcome to DU, we're all in the same boat there with wanting to sculpt entire planets and do lua (might have to steal your note to self).. You make me think of how I found DU, and for the life of me I can't remember. Maybe it's in a post I made somewhere, but in my mind it is not.
  24. Well I can understand you so your doing a fine job so far
  25. Welcome to DU.. as others have mentioned about building, they are all correct. The way the devs plan to take DU is sandbox emergent gameplay, meaning the players decide everything and construct everything. You want to build a 'drake?' and fly it around, go ahead. You want to build a sofa and fly that around?.. sure go ahead of you can work out the physics at least. Want to create a bank and set the politics on how and who can withdraw from it or set up a crèche for youngsters... do it. DU is planned to be almost 100% player made creations, laws, ships, politics... any thing is yours. But yeah, welcome to DU, I didn't play eve but I hope you enjoy it here.
