  1. So much this. If I want to create a massive ship the size of the moon, but it only does one thing... and that's thrust forward... I should be able to. However, a more intricate ship should be run with more players. I'm pretty sure that's what most people mean by a larger ship though, one with more guns... more goodies.
  2. I imagine it will be up for drops.
  3. It doesn't matter if everyone has the same skills/abilities (even if it's right out of the gate, granted... that's not the case but its' true). The desirability of your crafting depends solely on the ingenuity that you use to build a structure/ship with your own hands. If you create awesome structures as a new player, you will be able to sell them. If you create crumby structures as someone with all of the uber l33t skills... you won't sell them.
  4. I agree that there are obviously things that need to be kinked out with the current system, the obvious one being pointed out by ATMLIVE. I think a simple fix would be, if the ship is in a similar state to when you logged out (ie. it's in the same ownership, it isn't destroyed, no combat is occurring etc.) then you log back in on said ship, in the same location you logged out. If these conditions are NOT met, then you would spawn wherever you would spawn upon death. However, you would spawn without the penalties of death. Why this needs to be a thing: We can't have people logging out, only to log back in when a boarding party goes past their location... this is a common problem in many survival games, and had to be fixed in each and every one. We can't have people logging back into someone else's ship, obviously. I'm sure there are many more reasons, but I believe a conditional login would be the most beneficial and would not require stasis pods or any other such things.
  5. I actually went with the AKG K7xx which is truly amazing... I'm not an audiophile, but I'm sure an audiophile would be happy with them! Holy smokes, they are amazing. Literally feels like I'm there... I also purchased a cheapo LyxPro HAS 30. Which are also decent, not as good as the k7xx imho... but they suffice for use when others are around. Being that they're closed back, they don't leak as much. I'm using a cheapo Fiio Q1 amp for both headsets, works splendidly. The LyxPro can obviously be used without one, but it sounds much more crisp and punchy with it. It also has a bass equalizer that really give the bass when I want it. The LyxPro is a really good headset for how cheap it is... comfy, well built, 50mm drivers... You can get a cheaper version: Freeboss MDH9000 for like $45... if only I had known at the time, ha! Would have saved $15... although, I don't really like the Freeboss logo on the band.
  6. It could still be entirely enforced by players somehow. It's what makes these games so great.
  7. Another thing to consider is how would you control two ships feasibly with one computer... with one person? Although this isn't a twitch based game... it does require effort AFAIK. As yamamushi has stated, I don't see what's wrong with someone chilling on one account while privateering on another if they so wish to do so. There is NO way you're going to be taking part in combat with two accounts/characters.
  8. Ah, I see! Definitely makes a lot of sense. Thanks
  9. Love the informed/detailed response Nyzaltar! However, I do have a question... could someone elaborate on the second point? I don't play EVE, and when I did it wasn't very in depth. Cosmetics: If you guys do go down the cosmetic route (it may end up being necessary if DACs don't cut it)... please... please don't ruin the immersion of the game. So many games have killed their atmosphere by implementing cosmetics that just don't fit with the theme of the game.
  10. I disagree, too similar to Star Citizen ^^ Colonist or frontiersmen has a better ring to it... as civilization is more disheveled than in similar games ^^
  11. It sounds the opposite of boring to me. Play the game while your skills are leveling. There's no grind. Just pure fun.
  12. They simply need to add a method for purchasing singular DACs. I would love to chip in $10 a month. I imagine many others would as well. I cold always purchase an iron pack a month, but I'm not sure how that would be equated.
  13. Precisely. DACs are not detrimental by any means whatsoever. They do help boost funding for further development of the game. You want a more lifelike universe? This is how we get a more dynamic universe... unlike the dull (to me) universe of Elite Dangerous
  14. Pretty sure it's okay. If Indie games don't support other indie games and their development, we'd be stuck with trashware. I will watch this one for a bit, see how I like the developers and whatnot. Appreciate the heads up though Good information to know.
  15. Although I understand your point, and a LOT of people have brought this up in the past... and tried to combat it. However, the fact of the matter is buying a DAC in DU does not mean you can now purchase an uber weapon. What you CAN purchase is a bunch of resources... what you do with those resources depends on what type of in game backing you have from other players. In order to use those resources you purchased, you're going to need players who know how to build certain structures, buildings, infrastructure, ships, and whatever. Everything you have in DU is going to be built by a player, and protected by a player. You can't purchase a city (as a singular man) and expect it to be there when you re-log into the game. There is no individual P2W. If you are out harvesting some ore deposit you found, and you encounter another player... no amount of DACs can balance the struggle from one side to the other. What I do believe may potentially be an issue is an organization that has a large reserve due to purchasing DACs... but what does that mean? It means they have more resources to play with when it comes to organizing their hold on whatever they own or wish to own. Sure, it may seem unfair on a base level... but in all honesty I imagine there will be ways to "steal" from organizations... and if they wish to spend thousands on in game assets... they have the potential to lose them as well. Ala a few instances and EVE (I don't play EVE but I've heard of similar situations). Furthermore, as I alluded to... this organization will need the in-game player backing to uphold the resources they purchase. However, it is also entirely possible NQ has thought of similar situations and is working on a fix to combat the issue. Not sure how that would be possible, nor do I even think it's necessary. If someone wants to spend thousands, and thousands of dollars to give their organization a "lead"... what's to stop them from paying real life players for the same assets? Why not let the money go to NQ? tldr; p2w will not be on an individualistic basis, rather the outreach of organizations if it comes to it.
  16. The future. You are reading the future, basque in it. Or weep.
  17. Moneystacks Make me feel like a gangsta... yo... doggity doo... a space gangsta... pew pew I actually quite like Quanta though, seems unique.
  18. I really do support this idea of Reavers, as it's something that gets a really bad wrap in most games. People usually call such a playstyle griefing, when it really isn't. Or at least, isn't as serious as some griefing. When I think of griefing, I think of someone going out of their way to single out a single person for no arbitrary reason than to ruin their gameplay. For example, killing someone as soon as they spawn over and over and over.

    I don't think it's out yet, it's a movie right? Can't remember
  20. I imagine he was talking about here: https://www.reddit.com/r/Starcitizen_trades/ On topic, in the end I believe the situation ended up having a very very stellar outcome. Novaquark showing that large organizations aren't above the rules set forth in the game. I imagine this will bleed into actual game mechanics as well, if you break the rules... fear the consequences. If an organization abuses a bug in the game, I imagine there will be consequences. This is different from many games that I have been a part of, where large organizations had amnesty. Granted in this case, the large organization was one player... but it still has a strong indication
  21. I appreciate all of the feedback and suggestions, but I really want to go for an audiophile headphone rather than a gaming headphone. They (gaming headsets) are not as ridiculously overpriced as Beats or anything, but you can usually get a better audiophile for the same price as a gaming headset. So, I ended up jumping on the K7xx as the open ear design intrigues me. I've never used an open back headset, and I'm curious how much better it is in comparison to closed headsets. I imagine it will be worlds different than my crumby Turtle Beach PX22s! I also plan on getting a closed headset later on in the year as well, perhaps a DT 770 or V-MODA crossfade. I imagine I will go with the crossfade, as it is polar opposite to the K7xx.
  22. Of course, haha. I actually already have a cheap mic, it works decently well. Don't think I will be purchasing a new one, but if it ever goes out I will keep that one in mind! It's definitely a lot bigger than the one I have now. I'm now leaning towards the K7xx again, I will probably just use a different (cheaper, closed) headset when I'm around others. Or I just might not care . Okay, I'm not that evil :/
  23. My "gaming" Turtle Beach PX22 headset has finally died, and I'm relieved. Which means I am finally in the market for a new gaming headset, once again. Well, preferably a non-gaming headset that works well in games. It seems like non-gaming headsets can reach a much higher quality soundstage in comparison to similarly priced gaming headsets. Currently I have been looking at the AKG 7xx, AKG 545, AKG 535 Pro, and the ATH m50x. The AKG 7xx seemed like a phenomenal choice, however, I also realize that open headsets probably bleed a lot of noise. Which is why I'm tempted to go with the AKG 545 (for the detachable cord), the AKG 535 Pro (slightly better sound), or the ATH m50x (for better quality build). I'm leaning towards the m50x at the moment, but reviews have stated the soundstage isn't as good as other similarly priced headsets... but none of them seem to elaborate on this comment. Another option was the AKG m220, but that would also probably have leakage issues. (Only $50 for the next 10 or so hours though!). Anywho, if anyone has some good recommendations... I would love to hear them!
