This will just create an unpleasant situation where holding constructs hostage with giant dirt piles is the norm.

If the intent of the two-week timer is to give the former owner time to retrieve their stuff, then they should be able to access it.

If that's not the intent, then they should just forget the whole thing, and static cores should be abandoned when a territory is abandoned.   That sounds like a lot more fun than a two-week hostage negotiation.

NQ just makes things complicated for the sake of it.  instead of 2 weeks unpaid taxes, just go a full month, then its abandoned right away, and you can either claim the tile, or just salvage what you want if its small pickings.  What they are doing now will create things sorts of issues on whose right it actually is.

I'd like them to do something more original with weapons, but if they're going to copy Eve they should copy Eve better.

I think they have plans for upcoming speed changes.  I would like to see XS cores get a new weapon that bypasses shields and hits elements and CCS directly.  Could be a good balance for them being complete shit dps and range.

let me just say the utter disappointment for no christmas theme nor in game gifts,,has to be the first game i ever played and i mean ever that somehow avoided it for what can only assume to be a any celebration even world wide,,sad world though i bet they got the day off and bonuses.

Did you not get the memo? The players create the content in this game. You want Christmas shit you create it yourself.

End of the afk talent system?
Real interest in raising level 5 skills?

    -1: + 3%
    -2: + 4%
    -3: + 5%
    -4: + 6%
    -5: + 7%

Rather than a linear thing which recompenses each level as much.

Ive said this long ago, if they are sticking with the passive talent point accumulation, it needs to rework the bonus.  If the skill now gives 5% each level, it needs to be changed to 2.5% on levels 1-4 and then 15% for lvl 5.  This will help make specialization matter.

    Did you read the description?

Precision = Superior damage and range

Heavy = Superior damage and vision

That is the problem. DMG and range are the most important.  Literally no other gun but the precision variant is used in pvp. Is that balanced to you? Who cares what the description says.  There is 0 point in pvp to use any other gun.

  6. 49 minutes ago, Underhook said:

I have not used weapons yet.  Looking at the screen shots I don't see any problem?

Look at the damage.  They are the same.  One is heavy which is suppose to be bonus to dmg.  The other is precision that is bonus to range. But the precision gets the dmg bonus AND the range dmg.  Those 2 stats are the most important stats of any gun currently.  So no one uses any gun other than Precision.  Unbalanced.

NQ made several public announcmeent of this coming well in advance, as far back as late October and offered a way to prevent this from happening in the process.

It's not that they did not give enough notice, it's that you pay a sub for a game, do not play and do not keep tabs on what the developer of a game in "beta" is doing"

I'm sorry, but this is pretty much on yourself

While I don't disagree with you, NQ though has really skewed the lines on where the game is at.  They say its beta.  By their own admission its not released.  They are making what everyone in the industry would call alpha level changes by removing a core feature mining on planets/moons.  So this begs the question, why couldn't NQ release the new tile changes but say that the tax/abandonment wont happen until 3 months after release?  This would give players who want to support but wait til release to choose to come back.  Why are they doing this NOW?  Thats the big question.  Not that its happening, but why now.  I think the two most obvious ones are

1.) They are doing detemer and in addition the abandonment and taxes to remove as many tiles as possible because their money situation is more dire then they led on.  Otherwise whats 12 more months of a few static constructs on some hexes?

2.) They already made up their mind on wiping, and doing this is a test, a 'Beta Test' if you will.  They know everyone is losing all their shit anyway, so might as well test out some future mechanics.

Those feel like the most likely to me as to why these taxes abandonment are happening now, and not shortly after official release.

  8. They just need to start making a game, do something cooler with radar, put more things in "space" people like to fly their ships.  Add some variety to cores in what they can do.  ANYTHING except making you an Amazon employee and have to clock in and pay your taxes to daddy beezoo.

The refuged value is T1 thanks to the bot market buy orders. T2 for fuel and some of T3 for warp cell.

its almost like if something is CONSUMED it gives it more value.  A better funner balanced pvp even in small cores tied in with PVE crashes killing elements would help in that department.  It needs to be a balanced cycle of things being created, and things being consumed/destroyed.

I dont see it as lazy, I hope, just like many other features, it i version 1 and will be improved.  I would LOVE to see more flexible spawning, mega roids, roids fields etc and I hope they come soon.  Personally I MASSIVELY prefer roid mining to ground mining.  It is actually enjoy the risk vrs reward level, although I dont discover roid at all, I have DSATs on space stations, find discovered roids and go from there.

Sure and I agree with you.  Just saying I think some people do want to be the first on the roid and then it goes shows the world.  Even me as a hardcore pvper I just dont like this.  I also dont like knowing exactly what Is the best roids and the worst roids.  Adding a better asteroid system would add some cool exploration that is much needed.  Actually flying around looking and not knowing whats there.  That has an appeal I think to a wide audience not even taking into the pvp part of it.

EDIT- And depending on how/if they further develop pvp and TW, I think asteroids in this context would be a great gameplay option for more "random" encounters.  And thats fun not knowing what is out there, who is out there.  Maybe its a lone miner you run into, maybe its a group of 6 with heavily armored ships, maybe you run into no one and mine in peace.  That randomness leads to a more longevity to that, and is more skirmish gameplay too in regards to pvp.  Where station pvp and TW and possibly camping planets is more fleet/org pvp.  That would give right away a few playstyles to chose from.  And a couple of dudes roaming for asteroids could have some success not only in pvp, but finding some ore.

Everyone playing in the same universe, and the building, are what brought everyone who's already here.  Remove that, and there's nothing that hasn't already been done.

So i'm not sure what you are proposing that would pay the bills...

The game needs more, not less.

I know, but we aren't getting MORE are we?  Thats my point.  With what was put in with beta, and the past 15 months have showed that all they are doing is losing money as a company making this single shard, and not utilizing it by using that to create unique gameplay you cant get with space engineers.  Every big battle was a lag fest that cant be disputed.  And those seem to not even happen anymore.  There is no territory to defend.

  12. Also, this is coming as a pvper and industry guy.  I hate the way asteroids were implemented.  Why should i know exactly what an asteroid is, and when someone steps on it.  On one hand NQ says that they should be a conflict driver and people "fight over them" but then later said asteroids arent suppose to be the main pvp focus.  But a lot of fun comes in the mystery.  And flying our ships and a fun way to navigate in space then just this 2 su radar.   If we manually had to fly around known hot spots for asteroids that constantly spawned and respawned more randomly, and never knew the riches of what was in the asteroid til we got there would bring way more gameplay.   They could also range more in sizes, even bring back some mini megas or megas of T1 and T2.  So if you did find something the longer you were there, the longer your chances of being found.  It would be a gamble.  Maybe no one comes near you and you happily mine for 5 hours, maybe someone notices you on radar 20min after you land.  That more balanced feeling would probably get people to risk more.  Explore more, and be out in their ships.  Some would go in big groups, others would roam and try to ninja mine some good ore.  And everything in between.  That seems way more fun gameplay then knowing exactly what asteroid, whats gonna be on it based on rarity, and exactly when someone knows im there.  Its just plain lazy.

  13. Just now, Kobayashi said:

I would counter that to say that I mined roids from the start, 5 days a week and never had an issue, you would have thought that since Demeter, more people would be mining them but there is still ore.  So I ask again, is miningg REALLY just a weekend activity, or is that an excuse used by people who dont actually mine?

I dont know it could be an excuse.  But again, population is pretty low and regardless there seems to be a large population who dont want to even go in the pvp zone.  And are fine getting their ore in the safe zone.  If NQ tripled the population or developed much more cool combat stuff, then it probably would be a weekend activity.

  14. 5 minutes ago, Kobayashi said:

Something I have heard a lot of complaints about on this forum is that asteroids are 'only available at weekends', this is something that has always confused me.  I started mining roids on launch, focusing on discovered roids in pvp space.  I NEVER had an issue with finding ore, even on Friday nights before roids respawn.  I was making bank, no problems, I actually preferred it to ground mining as the ore was so easy to find.  I wondered if demeter has made a difference, so headed out tonight.  First rare roid I hit had loads of nodes left, T1-4....... but it is Friday and asteroid are only for weekends? Or are the people saying this people who dont actually mine roids?

Its hard to say 100% but in the beginning I think a lot of the best roids were mined relatively quickly.  But as time has gone on perhaps less are mining asteroids.   And as far as rare and exotic there is only like 15 total that spawn, 10 and 5, so those are obviously sought after, but thats not saying there can be useful ore on advanced and uncommon.  Detemer just was released so now roids are the only thing left to manually mine so might need a few cycles to see what it will be, but I think the player population is still pretty low regardless and a lot of people are working more on getting their mininng units up and doing that.   There is definitely left over ore that isnt mined come friday, but my personal thoughts are because of low populations.  If we get a boost ever in pop and still no other way to get ore then we could see a quicker depletion.

And I think a good amount of people just assume once a roid goes to broadcast a good chance the ore there is mined.  And ya it might not be, but its usually a lot of SU to gamble and see, and in the pvp zone.  So people think "why bother".  Not saying its true, but i think that is the sentiment of a lot of people.

  15. As in the other thread i posed this question, but wanted to see more.  I know we are waiting on NQs new roadmap, but with what we currently have, why does this game need to be a single shard universe? What does it provide?  If i can't effect other peoples gameplay then whats the point?  There is no bonus for cities, or carrot on the stick.  I can create whatever I want on any planet safely, I can run missions free from anyone else in the safe zone to make more quanta.  I can run all my mining units free from any interference.  I can build without any regard from someone else.  I can even crash my ship into the planet going 30k speed and it wont die or explode, no one can take it.  I just use some scrap.  Sure i can buy blue prints from someone but that could be easily transferable even if people owned their own private servers they payed for.  So once again, where does having this a single shard universe come in and give us unique gameplay?  If you say building you are terribly wrong, as I can just look at someones screen shots of what they build.  Going to someones base doesnt add to it.  But if I really wanted to they would leave their server address so I could connect and go see, but thats not really gameplay is it.   Seems NQ wasted a huge ass portion of their 25mil + on servers costs when that single shard hasnt provided us with anything a server like Space Engineers could provide you.
