  1. No it does not.But having to join an org is sort of "forcing" people down a certain path. Its not because its cool or convenient that it would be desirable or good for the overall game. I dont think we can really judge the impact either way right now. Me personally I wouldnt really mess with the mining itself. I would explore ideas for creating elements that enhance the mining gameplay. Or an element that has a benefit of some type, but the speed/efficiency of gathering the ore would stay the same for everyone. Either way its a tricky thing to balance because it would affect the entire economy. And I dont think its fair to tell Timmy he must join an org, but thats just my opinion. Mining is more then just digging and collecting ore.
  2. The issue is that an element for mining drives out the beginning miner out of the market. Its a time vs cost vs supply problem.
  3. Thats pretty much the only thing everyone has. Even the people at NQ wont be able to predict how exactly everything will work out. Thats the beauty of emergent gameplay.
  4. JC also said that he wants things to make sense to the player. So imagine a death star type of weapon blowing up a city, the persons living in said city wouldnt understand what would be going on. He says that in one of the video interviews. I think JC has a point when he says that. Me personally think super weapons are on that border between cool and boring.
  5. The navigation map is also a pretty interesting subject. It cant be a static map since the occupied space will be dynamic. Its one of those things EVE never got right in my opinion. The new map is better than the old one and its still a mess.
  6. Welcome. While you are setting up your infrastructure you could always carve out a space to hide your constructs. Alioth will be really big. And there is also the safezone, plenty of creative options.
  7. Welcome. There will be plenty of time to decide what exactly you want to do. And you can always change your mind. Have fun on the forum and see you around.
  8. Nope, he's not. Edit: sorry, no have nothing to add. It would be cool.
  9. I was, usually I am very careful with how I type my posts. I'll just continue finishing this bottle, thats probably wiser than posting at the moment.
  10. Thats a bit extreme twerk. I know its your style of talking but still... I have no issues with slow and deep systems, but not everything has to be. See what I mean? I backed the vision for this game just like you, instant gratification isnt something I am asking for. Doesnt really matter anyway, it was a lighthearted post on a saturday evening while I'm having a drink.
  11. How about it being a consumable? You activate it then you get x amount of time to do what ever you want in a "hostile" territory. When its done you get flagged as intruder as normal.
  12. Fine, I guess that will have to do for now. But seriously the fact that NQ is concidering adding joints and such at some point is already very cool. Thats the beauty of taking the time to write your own engine.
  13. Welcome. Yes for me its also a game I've wanted for for a long time.
  14. *mister Miyagi voice* The meaning of life is to live. *nods head*
  15. I found Bluedrake42 to be incredibly frustrating, ignorant and oblivious to many things. But thats just me.
  16. Hey thats a very cool way to look at it.You basicly adjusted the perspective of the observer. Though I didnt know the RN was able to transport entire bodies. But however you look at it, it remains a very odd situation. Perhaps on Alioth people do what we always do. Shrug our shoulders and just continue with live.
  17. Ah yes good point. Infinite realities and all that jazz. It really boggles the mind right. Still I find it creepy to think about. Its like episode of R&M, I dont think I would deal with it in a healthy way.
  18. Hello everyone (colonists/arkers) So I was thinking about the ressurection nodes and how it works. Somehow these things save our qauntum fingerprint and in the event of (unnatural) death it transports your fingerprint into a reality that closest matches your own. Now purely from the standpoint of my character, it makes me very uncomfortable. I mean, how would you deal with that knowledge? Everything looks the same but it isnt. To make it worse, your psyche got planted in a many worlds copy/version of yourself. Psychologically thats enough to drive a sane person insane. How would our characters cope with it? Lots of diversion? A sense of nihilism? Or would we have been chosen to deal with such an unusual way of life? How about natural death? If reality is infinite so are the possibilities. Does that imply that somewhere natural death is eliminated. Or what about that reality where earth wasnt destroyed? Feel free to share your thoughts.
  19. Hmm I found this place through an article. I remember that the people in the thread discussing the article were a little bit upset. Cant remember why exactly... I think it was a massively article. Somewhere early 2016...I do remember that the article was not so friendly. Edit: http://massivelyop.com/2016/02/01/dual-universe-promises-a-seamless-galaxy-on-a-single-shard/ this was the article for anyone interested.
  20. Fair enough Ripper. You are right in what you are saying. Its indeed a bit early for getting worked up about it. In the end we all want the same thing, making DU a great MMO.
