    Spawning

Well there will be a one time teleport, available for several days/weeks later in the game. If an org has it's base 493847489208777 lj away, it would be awkward for newbros to go there. Even though I think thats part of the fun, but what do I know
  2. You spawn in the ship. Not in space. Wtf?

    Spawning

That's something to discuss on your discord
  4. Why limit it, orgs will die anyway with time because of inactivity. And they're not going to be successful anyway.... no need to limit players. But please keep the spam going, alt accs. I want to laugh too
  5. It's not interesting at all. Pledge levels don't matter much, it mostly matters how you're involved in the community
  6. As jc mentioned there will be some sort of fee to use tiles in the ark zone to prevent people from taking and not using them. Also, there are way more than 1000 tiles there and a TCU is expensive - no way to get all that tiles for yourself

    Rogue AI

Gameplay wise it just makes no sense to have ai/npc enemies in DU because this game is a sandbox where players create the content. Not some npc. If you want players to fight a huge threat - create an org and rp your borg empire. Create content yourself but don't expect the game to create that content for you
  8. I don't see such a thing implement for release but I definitely hope it will be a thing later on. It would be utterly boring to travel and could be abused. I'm very well aware of the real life issues ftl imposes but this is a game, not rocket science. It could impose a problem on the update process as you mentioned but I don't know anything about that - I just think they should consider it to make the game not an afk transportation simulator
  9. I agree, without a mechanic to pull ships out of ftl, the trip to another planet will be like: push the button for ftl, logoff for 2 weeks, come back to enter the atmosphere of the new planet (or wherever you can warp). Meanwhile play a second account or on an alt. Space / traveling should mean something, pirates should have something to do in open space (if they can figure out popular routes), mercs should have something to do while escorting a trader, nations should provide some fast help for their citizens who get ambushed in open space and so on. Without ftl interdiction, a lot of gameplay will be lost while only adding one stupid and boring mechanic: an afk timer to wait to get to the new planet.

Well thats another story. There are at least 10 DU secrets, so who knows? But I'm against some random npc enemies
  11. Yep, sounds good - should work fine! Aww, very nice. Potatoes are nice to grow, easy, cheap and better than the bought ones. Well it's the first year for apricots, we'll see how it works out. But considering we live near THE SPOT in austria where those trees grow it should be fine. Will do, don't know what to do there anyway so that's a very clever idea
  12. Yeah, we have 50m² of vegetable garden, 100m of different berries, apple/apricot/pear/cherry trees I never thought about mushrooms though. I'll possibly steal your idea there What if you just build a small roof with that plastic on top, 10-20° should be enough for the water to flow to the sides
  13. It wouldn't condensate on a sunny day. Depending on the insulating properties of the materials (thickness of that plastic mainly) you could end up with some small condensation problems at dawn/night when the inside of the box is still hot and the outside rapidly cools down. Nice hobby depending on the price of such a mushroom I would just try what you have in mind, should work fine
  14. First off: Steam reviews Everyone is biased in some way (depending on your preferred games, played games, media, YT videos, promotions, involvements in some community,....) and only very very few people actually objectively rate a game, based off of facts and not personal interest. Then there are ofc those people (or kids) who think early access = alpha and then realize that this game is buggy as hell and very limited because many mechanics are missing. Part of this problem is the industry, wanting to sell games at an early stage to get money for development, thus releasing those early access games. If this backfires and the game isn't good, buggy, not fun or whatever then the studio will cancel the project and move on. Is this running away with money? I don't think so. I didn't follow those two games you mention but I guess there were cheaper bundles - no one forced you to buy those expensive premium versions. So it's YOUR choice if you want to spend more money (for nostalgia or whatever reason) or not, but I don't think you can blame the devs for it. There are many examples of games which promised a lot...and delivered nothing. But honestly: it's YOUR money. If I pay someone / for something I inform myself BEFOREHAND to know the risks. I watch videos, read the devblogs, watch interviews, compare statements from different interviews in regards of consistency, read the forum, talk to the devs themselves,.... If you don't do that and just throw your money at some random people, well it's your fault then if you never get the game you wanted (yeah, devs can change their mind and change the game too, sucks but happens). So to me, steam reviews are just a general direction indicator because of above reasons. I absolutely LOVED gothic. It was one of the best games I ever played (well, after portal series) and it's not rated that well. Because people are different. Same with Just Cause 3, "only" 70+ % but I just love it. Steam reviews can be a huge motivator for people but can ruin you at the same time. Take alpha for example. If DU would be on steam and people buy into alpha, because "yay, early access!!!! I'm soooooooooooooooooooooo exited !!!!!!" and then they realize it's a REAL alpha with bugs, lots of testing, crap game mechanics and so on (well I hope not, but you never know ). Do you really think this will help the game? Or will it most likely kill DU completely because some people are just stupid? From my experience with NQ/DU: I'm involved in the community a lot and I talk to NQ about several different topics. They were always open for discussion, answered questions, talked to us (those who would listen) and encouraged our participation in some vital game mechanics. If you want alpha access, it might be a good idea to buy into it before it starts. They'll probably won't sell any more alpha tickets once alpha starts (just my guess, nothing official).
  15. Players and the meta of DU will decide what weapon/ship combo will be the best. Depending on game mechanics and cvc. But it's actually a good question: will there be some sort of "warp scram" we know from eve or will it be more like a random lucky game? Tbh, I would rather see the latter with dedicated ships/elements to pull ships out of ftl or shutting down their sublight engines. More specialization, more diverse ship combos, more gameplay for newbros. Plus I don't really like the mechanic of a small, fast ship holding down a huge vessel and just hero-scramming while waiting for friends. I think DU has the opportunity not to make eve 2.0 but instead something better. Like scanning for traces of certain engines, warping faster to the possible destination and shutting down the engines with a highly trained and skilled crew
  16. As you can already see, NQ is active here and answers questions and concerns. And, if you search for similar threads as this one, you can see that they always told us what DU will be about and what mechanics are not implemented. Those "we will not do this, because...." answers are the reason I believe them
  17. To me: small ships: <10 medium: < 30 large: < 100 capital: >100 So yes, as I wrote, keep those penalties high for too small/big ships. But in order to not abuse this, I would only want to see cloaks (read: visual cloaks) on small ships and ECM (like camos, radar cloaks, thermal cloaks,...) on all ships (with a possible penalty)
  18. Since there will be no hinges/pistons/rotary elements in the release version you can't build them. But NQ looks into that matter for a later update

That would interfere with the lore of DU, as AIs shut themselves down a long time ago (in 2145 - Novark leaves Earth in 2536 - read here for more info) and as such it would not be logical for AIs to exist. Price fixing, destruction, pirates, noblemen, some crisis, some doomsday device and every other interesting gameplay should come from players, and not from some random, stupid NPC AI or something.
  20. In some YT video JC mentions glass voxels (I think it was the Graystillplays one, not sure though). As far as I can remember he said they're looking into it and want to implement them but they have some issues (can't remember why....twerk?) We don't have any info on changing colors of lights or other objects (except voxels) - but an educated guess here would be: probably not at release, but maybe later on they implement a custom painting system of some sort. I don't intend to silence people or preventing them from asking questions - by all means, ask, watch videos, read and talk about DU to your friends - as long as they weren't already discussed in lenght. I'm really patient with newbros but some are just....necromancers
  21. As said on the community page: Note: If you upgrade from a Kickstarter pack, you will get the Kickstarter rewards according to your new pledge level: Name reservation and Hovercraft Blueprint (all Kickstarter levels), Kickstarter Outfit (Bronze level and above) and Kickstarter Pets (Silver Level and above).
  22. To elaborate a bit more on what Falstaf already said: In the Rules&Announcement subgroup you'll find all three AMA (ask me anything) threads. Read them, they answer A lot of questions. Water No flowing water for release but (as answered in the AMA event) they think about underwater bases and stuff. Pledges There is plenty of time for pledging left, although the rewards might be less later on. Servers DU is based upon cloud servers, so you will connect to the nearest one. No problem for pings. Painting You can paint voxels so far, shown in the ship building video. But afaik you can't build elements with different color. Welcome to the forum and have fun reading all the deven blogs, watching the videos and using the search function (pretty please - this advice has nothing to do with this post here which is perfectly fine)
