    Still hoping myself that I get in with the Alpha Team.  I got buddies in it and want to play with them so bad.  I will be streaming the heck out of this game when it comes out.
    I am hoping the Community Manager can provide us streamers with some beta keys to give out while streaming as well to help promote the game.

    Hello All!
     
    I've never been one for branching out into new games before, mostly restricting myself to a few niche few games, although I've got to say, I watched the E3 trailer for Dual Universe and I was Sold.
     
    Some people may know me as a very active member on The Space-Engineers Community, and have written a lot of fairly popular Weapons and QOL scripts for the game such as writing low-level AI for drone fleets, artificial user-interfaces for fleet command, along with multiple guided missile and automated turret scripts.
    After reading about the in-game programming for Dual-Universe I'm learning LUA in eager anticipation of what can be done with this game, so expect to see me loitering around scripting sections, 
     
    Anyway I am very exited for this game, so I'd like to show my support to the Devs, and hopefully contribute to community!

    OMG, OMG! OMG!!!!  wow, you have impressed me. very nice shots, and love the scale so far.  That city with the folks in it, the city in space, everything looks Fking AWESOME!!  I want in!! Now please...lol
     
    Cant wait to build a base on a planet and have a massive starport for others to land in.

    Gameplay? not today... but soon.
    2nd wave of invitations in the Alpha team? I need to check with the management. I will keep you informed
     
    And now the announcements for today!
     
    1) Our new website is now officially launched. We finished a few modifications today.
     
    2) Dual Universe spacesuits reveal  (for both male & female, no discrimination!) 
     

     
    3) First in-game screenshots are planned for... early next week!
    We think (or we hope at least) that you'll be positively surprised by the pre-alpha screenshots!

    Our Art team has grown significantly since the beginning of the year, both in seniority and by the number of dedicated artists. This has impacted the development on two aspects:
     
    1) Harmonizing the Art Direction
     
    Recent artworks and 3D models (still work in progress) published share a common style:
    - Heavy weapon turret 3D model
    - Cockpit Concept Art for solo spaceships
    - Decorative Props for city streets
    - The new reactor 3D Model displayed in Marmoset later today
     
     

     
     
    You can see in these visual assets the art style (work in progress) we plan to use to represent the "United Nations" and human technology at its peak before embarking in the Arkships (keep in mind  it might evolve quite a bit between today and the official release or even the Alpha phase).
     
    2) Including their knowledge and their skills in the first screenshots
     
    We had planned to post some screenshots sooner, but we felt it would be a missed opportunity if we didn't include some of the massive improvements, relatively quick to implement, coming from the new guys. No doubt this will have a significant impact on how the game will look & feel. These first screens won't contain the final quality of the playable Alpha, but it will give some ideas of where we are heading.  So brace yourselves for the first in-game screenshots in the second half of May!

    Or instead of voxel-anything maybe the term should be a little more generic and less exotic and intimidating like fabrication or manufacturing. If you mean just the smaller aspects of voxel manipulation then just call it detailed fabrication or detailed manufacturing.

    Voxelmancy was the term used inside another game. Here in Dual we call it "voxelmorph".
     
    Seriously though, I would like to lose the term voxelmancy and not carry it over to this game.

    Hi Kongou,
     
    Character Avatar Design is something we consider as very important.
    We can't give you many details on it right now.
    But we can already say that:
     
    As the team is currently working on photorealistic in-game environment, in order to have a consistent artistic direction, characters can't be cartoonish or even semi realistic. This wouldn't match with the work in progress. It's still too early to present you anything relevant about character avatars, but as soon as we'll have something, be assured that you will be among the first to know, if you follow us on Twitter and/or Facebook (or if you keep visiting regularly our forum  )

    You're totally right. The smaller the voxels are, the more performance issues you have.
    We had to make some tough choices, and we think we have come to a good compromise:
    - Voxels on any planet will have a size around 100 centimeters.
    - Constructs made by players will be composed with 25 centimeters Voxels permitting better precision.
    Granted, this is still bigger than Landmark, but in exchange you have mobile constructs 
    And for the planets, well, you will have some up to 100 km radius (which means a bit more than 125 000 km2 !)

    Thank you Nyzaltar. It makes sense to me. I would have to see the voxel size in relation to a character to fully appreciate the 25 centimeter size (my calculations show that your size is barely larger than LM). But regardless, as you pointed out, we will get to fly these and that adds a ton of playability vs a spaceship that can't move. 
     
    The planet size works for me.

    I have been playing video games since the late 70's in one form or another.
    I have played all of the MechWarrior games and proud to have one of my player created maps in one of the two the MW4 Mercs Expansion Packs.  I have played all sorts of space games and currently play Elite Dangerous & ED Horizons & Star Citizens.
    Currently waiting on No Man's Sky & Eve: Valkyrie.
    I have played GRAV liked it but found the building and crafting to simplistic. I love building games as well, played the hell out of Life is Feudal YO, Rust & ARK.  Building & Surviving, two thing that go together well.
    I was a Trail Blazer in LANDMARK and loved it. But unfortunately SOE/DAYBREAK games has not done much with it since last year when they adjusted combat a bit also added in Linking & triggering and added several AI MOB types. (STILL WAITING ON DM TOOLS to script my adventures).
     
    My buddy Squishimus introduced me to DUAL Universe today and wow it looks really promising.
     
    When does the Early Player Backing start?? hehe..
     
    Currently I am disable due to having a brain tumor removed in 2009, So I play video games most of the day and stream at twitch.tv/daddio66 where I hope to be streaming this game very soon.
