Not buying off ... there were devs or a dev IN BoB ... and gave BoB BPO's through abusing the dev's power. I think they were T2 BPO's. So it isn't like BoB on it's own grew so big that it had that power, it was a dev abusing his/her/their power. Not like a mega corporation growing and buying off the government but more like the government abusing its power for personal benefit .... just like the real world. hahaha

I am bumping this because I am watching the Kickstarter Ask Me Anything youtube vid where JC is answering questions ( I know, "You are just watching it now???" I have been a slave at work for the past month). At about the 13 minute mark the question about scripts being readable comes up. What I mentioned in my first post in this thread looks to be true. If you sell something that has a script then said script will be readable by the purchaser. I do not like this at all. Please tell me I am missing something and I am wrong.

OR ... automate a mining cart that moves on rails powered by something .... maybe redstone so you keep mining and inventory space isn't a problem. I don't know why but that idea now that I think about it sounds familiar for some reason. Seriously though, automate everything else that you can besides the actual mining which you must do in person. So even with no automation in the actual mining there is still ways to speed up the process/efficiency involved.

It will be a dream b/c NQ has said that space elevators won't be possible in game.

You will be able to find safe zones out in the universe as well, but those will be rare and you'll need to invest time in the game to develop toon to get to a point to be able to find them and claim them. Just be a hermit. Live underground until you can make a couple probes .... send them out and travel a couple of jumps ( they are a one time one way jump tool) and live on a planet secluded on your own. OR!!! You can join an organization for protection. I'd suggest an organization whose vision includes balance and harmony .... if only there was an organization with a logo that symbolizes this ..... hmmmmm ... (pssst, look below this line)

NQ have said that that will be possible.

My understanding is there isn't a separate tech tree from the skill tree. You will need to learn the right skills to be able to use the materials required to make and the skills will open up new schematics.

In no way should players have any control directly in the creation of currency. This would turn into a gold rush instead of a functioning economy game. Why do any productive service to earn money when you can hunt for it. Then those who find it even if it is limited would have a huge unfair advantage in controlling market prices for everything. You bring up a good question however and tbh there will need to be some sort of npc way of earning money. I know NQ has said they plan on phasing out any npc interaction after the economy is jump started but I do not see how that would work. You need a way of controlling the money supply to make sure there is no great extreme of either inflation or deflation. This would really be determined by how many players are active which will fluctuate. Eve's big tool in this regard are the npc factions ... for example ratting or missions. This allows the creation of money into the economy while fees or taxes can pull money out of the economy. This is to try to maintain some sort of balance or at least a gradual or low rate of inflation. I can't say I have the perfect solution and really haven't thought much about a solution however players being able to create currency in any way is not good for the player base as a whole AND keeping the total amount of currency circulating stagnant is not an option as well. A player ran economy is very realistic but I do not think NQ eventually being totally hands off the control of the money supply which structures the environment of said economy and not influencing it at the least is realistic. (how is that for a run on sentence?)
