  1. OMG.... Every configuration error in every SaaS is actually not a bug..... Thank you! So much! My life is now so much easier. /s ?<facepalm> Are you guys lawyers or something? Cause you bend reality like a pro.
  2. In that case you are classifying NQ staff as a user. For me anyone who work on developing the game - so level designers too - are developers. So its developer misconfiguration - as its not according to design/intent - ergo bug. Now its also a user error - on that I agree and it was never my intention to deny that. But I don't see an issue. User error and bug are not mutually exclusive terms. If you are car company, had to design car with autopilot which stops when near a wall and than user crashed into wall with window, is it a bug or user error? Your example is about user doing stupid thing. My is of product which is not working as intended. Which case m15 is? Imho second. Than, please educate me. What English fundamentals I don't understand "very much"?
  3. Dude - program - game - doing unintended (by developer) stuff is a bug. Ability to enter market build mode therefore is a bug. Using said bug to disassembly the market is exploiting bug.
  4. flaw or fault in a computer program or system that causes it to produce an incorrect or unexpected result Open RDMS in market in a Dual Universe that causes it to allow player to enter build mode on market. Actually colored it. Also please pay attention (assuming you copied it from wikipedia) to first sentence of second paragraph. "Most bugs arise from mistakes and errors made in either a program's design or its source code...."
  5. Its actually very simple. Was market intended by NQ to be editable? No. So the fact that its possible to disassembly is a bug. So act of disassembling the market is abuse of exploit in form of abusing bug. Was theft of player stuff because of RDMS mistake intended? Yes. So not a bug. So no exploit. Also simple.
  6. Yes, theory of what DU is is not what DU is in practice. So what that has to do with perma-banning exploiters?
  7. Bug in software engineering is by definition a developer/programmer mistake. Or in this case game developer. So yeah, I have been calling, I am calling and I will be calling every developer mistake a bug.
  8. Check software engineering bug definition. ?Every bug is a developer mistake. I do understand it. You don't know definitions.
  9. Well, lets take a look at said definition. Lets take wikipedia one: "In video games, an exploit is the use of a bug or glitches, game system, rates, hit boxes, speed or level design etc. by a player to their advantage in a manner not intended by the game's designers." https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Video_game_exploit First sentence say it all. Applying here: market open to build was not intended by game designers so using b on market was an exploit. Congratulation on invalidating your point with your argumentation.
  10. Market being open to RDMS is a bug - this is not intended way for program(game) to work. Player rdms being open by mistake is not a bug - as this is intended way for program (game) to work. So its bug abuse. Yes - you need to read developers mind. Or apply common sense. Anything else?
  11. Area you talking about real life or game world? xD You can't kill anyone in most games if we go by real world meaning of that word. Even perma death in mmos is not even close to be equal to murder irl. This whole debate is lacking common sense, mixing irl terms with gaming terms. <facepalm> Worst case you can vandalize player ship or base. So one/few player are upset. Or you could vandalized market - so anyone who is using/would use this market is upset. Assumption: more people will or want to use Alioth market than any base/ship, maybe excluding biggest communist corporations. All the time we are talking about abusing mechanics not intended for that purpose - so exploits and bugs. Now - you are using argument -> lesser evil done without consequences so bigger evil should also have no or small consequences. Thats counterproductive - and i'm really sugarcoating words here - because it encourage further abuse of bugs and exploits. If you want to be pissed - imho you should be pissed that lesser evil has no consequences because they clearly shown they are able to apply consequences for player stupidity. Current soft hand policy is imho responsible for what happen to the market. On the side note - it doesn't even to be actual policy, its enough if its perceived that way.
  12. Or just start using atmo radars? So you can see those towers cores from few kilometers out always? What we really need is navigation radar which works in both space and atmo or ability to connect both space and atmo XS to the same seat.
  13. This game is buggy as hell sometimes but also fun as hell when its working (good enough). It already saved me quite a few bucks out of my new games budget thanks to providing fun things to do for so long Thanks NQ
  14. Hundreds? Lol, how the hell did you get that number? Nonetheless I see you are burned out and just want to leave at that moment - and its easier if you assume NQ is at fault. Well - thank you for information that they are actually looking at the tickets : ) That's one useful thing I can take away from it.
  15. You don't need treachery. Maybe someone made a mistake at some point - which was than noticed by unrelated players. Like "i can't build", "ok, i will switch it for a moment to public" or something similar. Easy enough if are not used to consider ops-sec every time.
  16. Look up easter egg solution podcast from DU and you will learn how it was introduced to game.
  17. Implementation in dates - that idea I don't like because it makes commitments done based on either crystal ball or astrology - its either padded so much that someone working efficiently would do it in half time (work will always span whole time allocated on it - one of unwritten laws of universe ? ) or will be missed very often. Besides - for now they are throwing one "bigger" patch every week - which i think is good enough information that they are working on game. On one hand giving us information "and we have worked this week on improved graphics and shields" would be nice - and I'm just making random examples here - on the other it would most certainly evoke much rage "bUt tHeRe aRe bUgS nEeD fIxInG nOw !1!1!".
  18. So why so many other people are still playing? Sorry man, you malicious intent is not working. Unless only braking NQ stuff is malicious intent.
  19. Several times? I'm aware about one guy claiming to report it around 2 days ago. Someone else did too? No exploit was used as far as i know - only not correctly set rdms?
  20. Truth be told i think everyone here would be okey with it if they start right now perma-ban worst exploiters too. But that won't happen, will it? -.- If they start enforcing all the rules that way now, i'm fine with that. Its just i don't believe it will happen.
  21. You think? I'm too sure that here is how its going to be: exploiters now knows the line and they will have free rain until that line. I've quit enough of games over exactly that sort of issues, looks like i will have to quit yet another in month or two. Hope i'm mistaken, but track records of "genius game developers making that only one great game" is not positive and NQ is falling exactly the same pitfalls as usual.
  22. Hey man -> here is the thing - you still ship from other players? No problem. Gms teleport this ship back during heist? Okey, lets steal another. Still no problem. Than lets steal whole bases. Using rdms? No info about bans? No problem. Actually allowing it in rules? No problem. So lets steal base using exploits. Still no problem? Nope, noone was officially ban. Whats next? Well, we can clearly see. Market. Oh, and here finally is a line. <facepalm> Sorry man, but this is straight forward consequence of current NQ politic on exploits and bugs. And now this, permabanning for rdms mistake by people who did the system in the first place. Sorry man, but after that great string of no real consequences - at least perceivable consequences - for not reporting and than abusing mechanics and exploits? I'm too salty to see it as anything but straight forward "lets check the limit" yet again - which was encourage by that politics - and now overreaction on the NQ side. On side note - i'm as certain as possible without making such report myself that if they would comb they communication channels they would find reports of it going back few days. Ps. I doubt it will take more than 16 manhours to sort it out all. I'm so salty that the only difference between that and lose of all the players, that i can see is that NQ actually need to pay for those hours - oh my.... While players rebuilding their ships, bases, etc.? Who cares about their time, its beta after all.
  23. There is no absurs, its clear line - you can mess up with players as much as you like, just leave NQ stuff out of it. Simple. Infuriating but simple.
  24. So steal a ship using exploits - no problem. Steal a base using exploits - no problem. Take everything using RDMS? No problem - unless ts market. Not like.
