  1. Hey, yeah, fellow LM player here :-)  There are lots of us here.  I have a few guys in my org, The Outfit and then the Brew Crew has an org named Profit Rocket Foundry.  You should look us up in the community organization area and get in touch!

  2. Sure, it's going to be possible by some of the larger Orgs, but then that's part of the game.  I doubt most of them will be making it a living hell for anyone else who wants to live there though.  They would probably be inviting people to move in, set up towns and cities and all of that.

Now if a really big pirate org  (not naming any names, mind you) controls an entire planet, it might not be as friendly to outsiders. But then that might end up being one of the more fun planets to visit when you're bored.  Nothing is quite as fun as poking a sleeping bear sometimes, lol.

Regardless, relax and let the universe take the shape it will.  It is going to be so interesting to watch it evolve.  Besides, it would be pretty boring if the Devs start telling people where they can live and what territories they can control.  That's what I hate about traditional MMOs; you get one little "plot" and you're done.  Some of us want more ... much, much more.

    Hello Alpha team

I am Damian Firecaster legat of the Core worlds Coalition. I am a former Everquest LANDMARK builder,  Current Space engineer and second life resident. I wanted to see How many Alpha team members are also former LANDMARK voxel mancers (Master voxel builders). You guys are going to show JC/novaquark just what a voxel engine is capable of doing. Also we need to test this engine to see if we can do micro voxels and negative voxels. so sound off. gentlemen and Ladies. we know what our job is, we have been down this road before ( Everquest Landmark) stress test, find every bug in this game and get it fixed, as with landmark we will find Some bugs that we like and that can be turned in to features such as the a fore mentioned micro voxels and negative voxels. we might find others. but our job is to get this planet / game ready for the other colonist that are asleep on the Arkship. My job will be to explore this planet and find resources. I look forward to meeting you guys again, some of you I know from landmark. It will be great to get back to building in voxels like we did in landmark. but this time our creations will FLY !!!! If you see me in game please say hello, I enjoy meeting people. to all other Members of the Alpha team, if you need assistence with building tools or building I will help some. the Ships I will be building are the S.S. Ram (Luxury yacht/Mobile Home (unarmed)), CWC Wolverine (Science-Command ship (ARMED)), CWC Amazon (Runabout(armed)).

Good luck to all of you.

Hey there, fellow LM player here.  Nice to see another one of us here!  I have not had a lot of time to play yet but once the servers are up full time i'll be hitting this game pretty hard.  So far I'm in love with what they have done.

  4. I don't think it's going to be a problem.  A large ship with a large crew won't be as nimble as a smaller ship.  If its one gun per person, then the crew also needs to be pretty good at working together to be effective.  I can foresee many instances where a smaller, tighter crew might be more effective.  It will all depend on strategy at that point.

  5. Just wanted to pop in and remind everyone that we are recruiting again.  At this point we have a couple of top officer positions available due to some of them not having access until beta or later. So if you're interested please apply!

Hey guys, I'm a Gamepedia staff member and just wanted to throw some information in here. Player content does have a place on wikis, but it should be in a separate namespace and tagged as such, just so it's not confused as official game information. Here are some examples of how other wikis handle it:

    Guilds on Wowpedia

    Journals on No Man's Sky

    Fan art on Ark

If you'd like to go this route, we can set up an "Organization" namespace, so pages will look like this "Organization:Terran Union". With that, you all will want to set up a template and some guidelines for people to follow as well. I'm happy to provide more examples or answer any questions.

This is exactly what I was thinking.  There is nothing wrong with having org info on the wiki, as long as it is separated out like this.  And since it is a Wiki, then players can add their orgs in themselves.  The only thing I would suggest would be from a moderation perspective.  Just make sure that if info on an Org is on the wiki, that the org in question is aware that they are on the wiki so they can keep an eye on it.

If we do it this way then if it's important to an org to be on the wiki, then they can be on the wiki - if they want to put the time in to manage the page themselves.  I think an org could even request to be excluded from the wiki if they like, as well.  It's emergent game play in DU, so let it be the same with the Wiki.

Now all that being said, I have never run a wiki or even use them that much, tbh.  So I don't know if you can give specific permissions to specific pages to specific members.  But if you can, I'd probably try to set that up.  Just  make sure only the legate, or a person they approve, has access to edit that page.

But if that's not possible, or sounds like too much work, then I would opt to not add them in at all.  Just let the community set up their own sites and simply have a section to post links to them.  Actually, that might be the best solution of all.  If an org feels like it's important enough to them to have a bunch of info online in a place other than the DU community area, then they surely have a website.  Let them submit the link for that site and then be done with it.

  7. Why are people arguing about this?  Some people don't like to pay for games.  Of course, you have to pay for everything else in life, so why games should be free or super cheap is beyond me. I don't know where their logic comes from, but they have been steadfast in their belief.  But hopefully the Devs will stick to their guns on this one and maybe, finally, we can have a good game that continues to develop and improve over time and becomes a great game one day.    Just have to wait and see if the Devs can actually deliver first.

I sure hope so, I'm getting REALLY tired of these B2P games that are all in EA and end up being abandoned; one after another after another after another.  Also getting really tired of being a server admin for these same games - such a pain in the ass.  Starting to wonder if the game companies aren't investing in renting game servers instead of their games themselves.  That seems to be where the real money is now-a-days.
