  1. My best guess is they are gonna cave on it. For one, it brings them more money. They don't want to turn down more money. Second, eve has already created this precedent, and if you actually play eve, someone dual boxing is always less effective than 2 separate people working together. Third, its very hard to police, and keep the level playing field. If I put a laptop next to my desktop, and am mining on an alt while I fly to another planet, who is gonna know? Its a waste of NQ resources to try to "catch" or police this. If you have the means to buy 2 PC's and buy more accounts, then its just the way it is. Say what you want, but this will be the policy in the future id bet money on it.
  2. I think you have a misconception about what DU is.
  3. 1 month at a time will come when the game goes to "official release". So just wait until then to hop in.
  4. From my point of view, you guys are griefing that dudes wall. Im going to file a ticket.
  5. You are mis-understanding me. I have 0 theories on how atmo pvp will work. Only that it WILL work in some way. And that leaving your ship, parked, on an unclaimed tile, while mining, is probably going to be dangerous, thus going back to my original statement, Him being paranoid isn't a bad thing, because soon enough you wont need an exploit to shoot someone on a planet.
  6. What claims tho? Lets think about this. Atmo pvp and territory warfare are CONFIRMED. So if someone is on an unclaimed tile (not in a safe zone) then it will be able to be shot. No "exploit" is needed to haul it away to shoot it. The ore at least at this point is all on Planets/moons. When is a ship most vulnerable? flying around where it can warp/evade or when its stationary on the ground and its only pilot is 1k deep with a scanner out. Doesn't matter how atmo pvp will work, because its confirmed to be coming.
  7. It has been, but his paranoia will be very real when he tries to mine when atmosphere pvp is introduced and he lands on a random unclaimed tile. I suspect pirates will roam planets just as much if not more than space when they can.
  8. I try to let people know, but mining high tier ore on moons is a waste of time even after a fresh reset. They are crazy rare. Almost all the veterans know that. If you are looking for a specific ore thats T2 ore above, its always better to go to a planet that has it. ALWAYS. Its a trap some new people fall into. "oh man i have to travel 3 hours to go mine gold?....wait there is some on this moon!"
  9. The only way a lot of these scammers succeed is, based on buyers greed. Our best guess is official release is probably 18 months away. Give or take who knows, but thats a educated guess. So that means if you are paying a sub til release, you would have spent $7 X 18 = $126 dollars. Beta keys you dont have to pay for release, so thats an estimate of their value. So this person thought they could spend only 5mil of in game quanta for $126 dollars, which is laughably low, because even noobs can make 5 mil in a few hours. There is a reason for the saying "if it looks too good to be true, it probably is".
  10. I have no arguments with discord so that's whatever. But ya no ingame sanctions to his character should happen.
  11. Chalk this up as lesson learned. He should not be sanctioned. You attempted to buy something with ingame money. Which is fine. But you chose to try to buy something that doesn't exist "in game". So this is a valid scam. If you tried to buy for IRL money then it would be RMT and you both would be liable to be held accountable per their TOS. Only IRL transfers can go thru NQ. For subs/DAC (when they come out). If you tried to buy something that is an ingame item, you could use the barter system to be way more secure. Buyer beware when purchasing services from other people.
  12. Sure, all those countermeasures are fine to put in as long as it comes with atmo pvp and the majority of the solar system open world so people cant dip in and out of planets for safe zones
  13. Give this man a shit ton of credit. He got shot in the pvp zone, but came to the forums asking what HE could do better to prevent it. Yes we know pvp needs lots of work, but in the mean time you use what you have. I for one sir applaud you and if you want you can personally message me and I will give you a bunch of tips for avoiding pirates with and without warp. This type of attitude is what people should strive for when choosing to play this game.
  14. Pretty much this. Mining is currently on easy mode. People are vacuuming up ore at record paces. Let's see people take their medium haulers with 3 territory scanners out to unclaimed tiles when there is full atmo/planet pvp.
  15. It really is the non-pvpers who are the most toxic. I have a decade worth of eve experience and evidence backing it. Instead of daphne finding a game that's fun for her, she has to go to the forums of a game whose gameplay she doesn't agree with and tout "it never works" and thinks no person should ever be allowed to play a game with open world pvp, and those who do and play games like eve are psychotic. Me on the other hand, understand that people have different tastes and while I personally dislike games like WoW or fortnight, am glad they exist and are there for people to play who enjoy them. I stick to playing games I'm interested in, like a normal well adjusted adult.
  16. What are you talking about? I said we sell the item we make to the market bots. Reading comprehension.
  17. I mean, to be fair, you are choosing the grind life. Have you considered playing with other people? You can join an org, or you can even stay solo but make contacts to do projects. One thing our org does, is set up a small 100% automated industry that only takes T1. It produces 7mil quanta a day selling to bots. We then use that quanta to buy things we need. When we divvy up the mining duties its maybe 1 hour of mining to keep the machines on. And if they shut down for a little it's not the end of the world, they turn right back on. With that quanta we use to purchase everything we need, and work on other projects that interest us. Not saying everything is 100% ez but with some effort trying to meet people, you can find things you enjoy and monetize it to a degree. The biggest mistake I see brand new people do is thinking they need to build every thing themselves. I only make fuel and voxels. Every thing else I find on the market. And usually at pretty good prices. Ya I have to mine a little, bit that becomes a very small percentage of my game time. My alt with industry skills make it more efficient too.
  18. Yes, but have you played poker? The word "exploit" is used ALL THE TIME and not in the way you just described. AT ALL. People change the meaning of words to fit circumstances. If you used exploit in that way as you described you would get blank stares at the poker table. What you described is called "cheating" in poker. This is a very well known online player. And raise your edge is well known in the poker community. This is how exploit is used within the poker community.
  19. Further more, the word is exploit in itself can be a bad term to use. In poker, we use the term exploit all the time. We exploit a players tendencies to gain a statistical advantage to win their money. Those are the actual rules of the game. And exploit can just mean to gain an advantage. But its been geared toward meaning "unfair" advantage. If i train pvp skills, and my opponent does not. I could be said to exploiting him, because i chose to take actions that gave me and advantage, and he did not. It comes down to what NQ decides is acceptable and unacceptable in the pvp zone.
  20. Yes but you are saying exploit. But regardless this discussion wasn't about any exploits in the safe zone, regardless of what others have said. But in the "pvp zone" there is no griefing. If there are exploits report them and NQ can fix them. I don't see exploiting as the same as griefing. But griefing anyway is a pretty vague term, and not a good one. I see it similar to the word Toxic. Its something that is over used and can be a very broad term to use in many situations to bend it toward what you want.
  21. No one is talking about taking someones ship from a safe zone to pvp zone. NQ im sure is going to clarify that. But IF YOU LEAVE YOUR SHIP ON AN UNCLAIMED TILE NOT IN THE SAFE ZONE....then well you can probably guess what might happen. We are talking about non-safe zone issues.
  22. So its not griefing if they are in the pvp zone, and using their ships and guns as intended, to shoot someone. Interesting.
  23. Kinda funny since you brought up votes when it was asked about griefing, and everyone but you in this thread is getting positive likes and reactions in this thread. You are the one who isn't. Speaks volumes. And since you took so much stock in the voting about griefing, then it would mean that you do here to.
  24. You can't do any of what you explained in the safe zone. So your little made up story doesn't mean anything.
