  1. i agree with you, and i think you will find that a lot of us here agree with you. im hoping to see it be an optional thing for turrets but for dogfights be treated like a fps. especially since we can make guns and such given that our nano arm thing can be used like a ranged weapon as well i feel like its possible to have both or choose which to use in ships. hopefully they will see the error in the alpha and beta
  2. never played eve. when i came across it didnt have the time to commit to such a game. but if thats how it is then yeah. kind of disappointing but im hoping that if there is standard fps combat for on the ground then they can translate that to dogfighting. maybe only "turrents" will work in that fashion
  3. I think NQ said that the chance of hitting and damage and such is based on some research

  5. rebuilding human civilization I think its the main focus. I need to go read the backstory in the blogs still but I believe the focus is rebuilding civilization. I don't know if they will be any other narrative past that though. to much narrative and it becomes less of a sandbox
  6. WELCOME!!! and I don't think the kickstart starts till a few months from now. but im sure they wont turn any money down that you throw at them. unless its quarters. I don't know if they want to be pelted with quarters

  11. well I may be wrong but there will be ground combat as well and im assuming ground combat wont be tab targeting. so for dogfights they could use the same system as the ground combat. maybe im no game designer
  12. I can see this happening. making the game for pc first then going back to make ports for Linux and mac if demand is high enough
  13. the devs are still kicking around ideas. but in the blog they said if they do have the tokens they will be rare and only found while exploring but I did see someplace where NQ posted on a thread where they will have safe zones for non pvpers
  14. i would like to see this implemented into the game somehow. i was going to suggest that the more people who choose to research into a single research item on the organization level the quicker it goes, but i realized as i had the thought that it would make it unfair to smaller groups.

  16. or shared amongst an organization, OR! research that can only be done on an organization level. things that would only be useful inside an organization but not to an indivual.
  17. if the power is being distributed one could say the strongest point of the field is where its being casted out of the ark token and the weakest being the furthest point from the token. which in my mind would mean that an individual may be able to walk through the edge of the field and find the device with the token producing the field and sabotage it. given that no hostile actions can be taken inside of the field there would be no way to stop this person unless you were able to ban them from the area. in which case back to bring to wrought the full force of a fleet's fire power. oh the possibilities and we are left to wonder lol

  19. WELCOME TO THE WORLD OF TOMORROW!!! anyways welcome to the forums. i believe the best way to get into the alpha is if NQ decides that one of the donor milestones is access to the alpha. Id like to think all of us here will get into beta though
  20. i would like to see the item not be able to be sold on the open market. maybe given through direct contact but i think it being on the open market could cause issues. big corps and organizations would buy them all up just cause they would have the cash flow to do so. an interesting workaround would be that you can set each token/artifact to cover a certain area based on the power you feed it or by linking multiple ones together. but the bigger the field the weaker it is to attacks. so a small personal ark field would be 100% indestructible while a city size one would be able to be brought down with enough fire power.
  21. i vaguely remember something in a devblog where you use a computer terminal inside the ark that lets you do different researches. and depending on the complexity of the research affects the time. im thinking like civilization research when i read it. im assuming that the early stuff may only take a few mins to an hr. then as you progress further into a certain type maybe hours? or im making crap up and i dont actually have an inkling lol. but if im even remotely right id like the research time to only be max 24hrs. or maybe you instantly gain the skill but have a cooldown till the next one depending on complexity of what you just learned.
  22. im being healthily pessimistic as most games get pushed off at least once or twice lol. to me beta and early access or different. beta is closed and early access is semi open to open

I think in the dev blog that is mentioned earlier they said that finding the alien item that would allow the arkification of an area is only part of it. the amount of energy and res needed would in theory do the same thing as if it was a temporary thing. if an group abandons a city sooner or later the power will dry up and the shield will fall. the main concern is making it so that its not impenetrable. either by having a way for someone to remote hack it or ,unlike the original ark, have it so that enough fire power brought down on the shield will over heat the generator ruining it and cause it to collapse till the generator is repaired.
  24. short answer.....i have no idea. the specs for this game are a mystery to all of us atm.
