I'd say if it's on-topic then put it in Fan Art :P

I filled up that forum in the hopes that it would encourage others to start making content and posting it there haha

    Haha I tried.

I suppose I need to dedicate myself more tho to creating MORE.  I had some ideas in mind for wallpapers/ gifs...

But overall I would have to say that the art section was created just for you since you've posted the most fan art, inspiring stuff!

I hope ANYTHING can be used for fuel (Which I mean, you CAN put steel into your gas tank, if you plan on destroying it), while others excel better than others (Hydrogen>Unicorn Farts).

I also hope that different fuels excel at different things (low-profile [noise, the flash, ect], potential energy per milliliter/voxel [since voxels are presumed to be a centimeter/decimeter {1/10 of a meter}] that affects fuel mileage and "strength/propelling force", and potentially color [Flashy colors!].)

I presume fuel will physically be stored (Nutshell: Placed in voxels, not in a storage interface) and of course, fuel refinement.

Just my cup of tea I wrote in 5 minutes but hey, it's a starter.

Reminds me of using the furnace in Minecraft, you can use leaves and stupid items to essentially "recycle" them into a useable thing but they ultimately suck when compared to logs, coal, or even a bucket of lava.

The game mechanics of what NQ is trying to do with DU should easily handle this sort of thing.

Your idea takes it a step further, which is awesome!  Usage of certain materials should provide better results to noise-suppression, illumination, potential energy, etc.  It will also allow different fuel sources to be found throughout Alioth (or to a larger extent the entire universe of DU).

Do you mind sharing that cup?

  3. To further that your idea, I think if one was to be something of a professional explorer in DU then it would help to really focus the skills/abilities to that.

Basic level: send a probe and it tells you whats what.
Mid level: probes can differentiate planet types and stars, provide number of moons, etc
high level: planet readouts with pretty accurate locations of minerals and such
pro level: idk, locate wormholes? will gas mining be a thing? accurate details of everything.

It'd be cool if you had a limited amount of copies of your findings so it would be up to the buyer to pass along or retain the knowledge of the stars...  It would be interesting to see players needing to fill in the gaps of a galaxy wide map as opposed to it being set up for everyone.

  4. Overall there is no easy solution, some of the suggested above are pretty good though.

What I could see being played out is that Alioth will eventually become in such a state of ruin until other planets are found and essentially become a mainstream to be played on, then there will be efforts by some of the "founding" orgs or players to rebuild Alioth to its former glory.

Alioth alone holds some +50k tiles to control.  Given that there is no automated mining it'll be a long time at even double the community count to wither away our precious starting planet.

All in all, I would like to preserve Alioth for as long as possible, lest it becomes some trash Minecraft server....

  5. At this point in time... I'd have to say no.  Given what NQ has released thus far on "aliens" it seems there's gonna be just wild fauna/flora (like roaming a planet in NMS) and possibly some unknown source that may or may not be alien.

    Stay tuned tho!
