  1. I have nothing against Steam, I have used it many times in the past. However... There are very few MMOs with a subscription based monetary system on the Steam market. From what I've seen, the majority of MMOs are put on steam are free, b2p with a cosmetic shop, or may have been p2p but are going free to play with a transition to Steam. And the vast majority of those MMOs are dying and need a boost in players. Perhaps this means Dual Universe will get glowing reviews... perhaps not. But more often than not, I see knee-jerk reactions to games on Steam. I'm not sure what the Steam community thinks of P2P, but if it's not a good one... that will reflect on the reviews. What's the first thing people look for in a game... especially if it's on steam? The reviews. Oh boy, it has a mixed rating? Better pass this one for now. I don't even use Steam all that often, but I always look over Steam reviews if the game is on there. If it's not, I look at other reviews from reputable sites. The main takeway from that above section is that people look at Steam reviews before going anywhere else. These reviews may get the whole story, or they might not... Basically what I'm saying is I don't personally think the whole "publicity will skyrocket with adding the game to steam" to be a full truth. This could also come around and give negative publicity as well. Just look at how much "flak" has appeared on this forums about the P2P model... imagine if it hit Steam, where very few if any games follow that model. I guarantee that "flak" will sky rocket. The majority of the games on Steam are games you play for a few months, and move on from. The MMOs that are on there are debatable as to whether Steam has actually helped keep them alive. Anywho, food for thought I guess.
  2. 4 hours... let it be known, that's how long I lasted. Such terrible resolve >.>
  3. Agreed, I imagine Vive will drop in price someday soon too... Good news all around imho
  4. Oculus Rift has gone on "sale" for $400 for a limited time. You get both the headset, couple of sensors, and the controls. You no longer get the xbox controller. I've been interested in VR, but it was just a little too expensive to justify the means... but now, it's the price of a good monitor... Might have to pick it up. The price is both on Amazon, and on their official website. I believe the sale ends on August 7th, and will then be $500 there after. Anywho, seems like good news to me... 1/2 the price the headset/controls originally costed. This IS a pre-order, so I'm not sure if it's just a new batch... or a new edition, but keep that in mind.
  5. I'm curious what the reaction would have been if they left the PLEX system the same. The main reason PLEX has gone up (I would imagine) is because there are multiple avenues for using up PLEX at this point. There's more demand, it isn't just to get one month of gameplay... it's to get all the cosmetics you desire as well. I'm curious if the "annoyance" sparked in the EVE community would be similar if those cosmetics could not be purchased with PLEX. Begs the question... IF NQ implements a cosmetics shop, should we be able to use DACs in that shop? It's too bad there isn't an alternate universe where EVE kept PLEX and cosmetics unrelated.
  6. Ever since I took a photography class in college I have been into something called urban exploration. I would HIGHLY recommend looking up urban exploration in your area. Not only will you find some amazing/forgotten places to photograph... but you could meet other awesome people on the way. With urban exploration always be smart and safe, bring a friend the first few times. On another note... A lot of people think photography is meant for nature, and the beauty therein. But some of the best and most powerful photographs I have seen are of people... See if you can capture the wide array of emotions people exhibit on a daily basis. It's actually pretty funny, I thought the photography class was going to be a "joke" and easy A for art credit. Boy was I wrong... I showed up to class not knowing I needed some fancy DSLR camera or anything of the sorts. Anyway, photography can be a fun little side hobby even in the city/urban area.
  7. Instrctions unclar: Stck in backhol. Nt sure if ths trnsmision will mke it... but sen halp... *static*
  8. Psh, I prefer calming right.
  9. It's been in development for a good 6 years now, I imagine they have scrapped a few things in the time... but it shows a lot of work has gone into making this game the best it can be. NOTE: This game will be F2P in 2018, buying a package now only gets you "early" access and whatnot.
  10. I really like how there are classes, but you aren't limited when it comes to items. Apparently there are just perks for using the "right" items with your class. Can't wait for a PvP mode either... Said they've been working on it for awhile, so hopefully it won't follow too far after!
  11. Nothing like Dual Universe, but is anyone else out there excited for fortnite? Never thought we'd actually see this game, haha! Thankfully I didn't follow it as closely as others, just came out of the blue for me... even though I remember looking into it all those years ago. Lots of gameplay: NOTE: The game will be F2P in 2018, the package just gives early access at the moment. And of course goodies and whatnot. There WILL be microtransactions, but Epic Games usually does pretty well with their in-game purchases... if Paragon is anything to go by.
  12. Are you saying it isn't? Heresy of the highest order!
  13. What if muffins had no tops?
  14. You can't tell me what to do! I will ignore this if I want to... wait a minute....
  15. Baha, that may be so... no problems yet though
  16. I'd go as far as to say even large groups should have trouble owning a planet, rather they'd be forced to form alliances with other groups in order to take control of a planet for a common goal. Precisely how I think it should be, it shouldn't be easy to completely control a planet. Creates a much more dynamic universe, especially if those groups begin to have conflict
  17. Haha forgot to give an update on this, everything went well! I did end up getting Svet's BIOS, and it isn't as sketchy as some people had made it out to be. As long as you're not completely idiotic, there shouldn't be any problems with the BIOS. Play it safe, and all goes well. I also ended up delidding the CPU, as I figured I didn't have much to lose. Not as hard as people make it out to be either. Ended up getting a stable 4.7 ghz @ 1.35V on the CPU and a 1250MHz on the 980m. Anything over that on the GPU and (even though the temps are stable) games seem to get really wonky. Tearing, black screens, etc. Kind of strange, but happy with it all the same ^^ I think it's due to the fact that the power draw grows exponentially crazy with the 980m. It's a power efficient card at low speeds, but once you start increasing it... oh boy. Not sure if the laptop can handle the power draw Looking around it appears that quite a few people were able to push 4.8ghz with an i7 6700k, but I will be content with the 4.7ghz I think. All temps cap out at 80-85C depending on what I'm doing. The surface hardly even gets warm The difference between stock speeds and the overclocking is light and day, can just tell it's a lot more bang. Definitely will go with the MSI barebones whenever I need a new laptop. Considering this thing is already ~2 years old, it stands up pretty well.
  18. Rather than join the whole "Mac vs Windows" going on right now, I will say that having a boot camp is a nice thing to have on a Mac. You can do all of your important stuff (purchases, work, that kind of stuff) on the Mac, and then do stuff that isn't very important on the Windows partition. For example, if you get a virus on the Windows partition, you can scrub it clean and reinstall Windows with your key. But since you had all your important stuff on your main partition, all is well ^^ Of course, also keep external backups of important things like Photos and other priceless things
  19. Not at the moment, if enough desire is there... they may look into it. Just dual boot windows on your Mac... You will be able to play far more games that way.
  20. I didn't watch your videos, but if what others say is true... figured I should add this: The success of a video isn't based on gameplay alone (if at all) it is whether or not the Youtuber (you) can intrigue the audience with your commentary and wit. Just showing gameplay isn't something people watch videos for, they can do that themselves! (Unless they're looking at purchasing said game, but even then a good commentator or a good reviewer is far better than just showing plain gameplay) You need to be able to build upon the game, give something more... in order for your videos to be successful. Good luck!

P2P may not always settle with the community, but F2P NEVER settles with the community. However, if you're able to afford just a couple months... you can purchase further gametime with in-game currency. I believe they are also looking at a severely gimped "F2P" account that can do a few basic things, like a "trial" of the game. Not sure if that's still on the drawing board though, there was quite a bit of flak towards the idea.
  22. Looking great, love the first implementations of crafting... fantastic news. Can't imagine what it'll look like in 3 months ^^
  23. You can create a poll that doesn't show what people answered, and you can create a poll that does show what people answered. There isn't anything inbetween IIRC.
